Nice food and generally attentive staff

I went here with colleagues for food and the menu was good and broad. There were things more related to its Latvian location as well as more Asian-style dishes. The prices were not really cheap for the location but were fine. The place was very busy on a weekday night which is probably a good sign. The staff were generally very helpful, if some more keen to engage than others.

Excellent šaslik dinner

Best šasliks we have ever eaten - I had chicken and my husband ate pork šaslik. It was sooooo good, spicy and yammy. All the extras, little cabbage salad and grilled vegetables were delicious too.

Nice but noisy

Nice & NOISY! Thats’ first you can feel. All dishes are really well done, but the prices are too high. Average dinner per person - Eur 20 Service is rather slow and we had some incorrect dishes - the eaiter changed this mistake rapidly. Overall experience-nice but noisy and a bit slow.

Chaotic menu (not really sure what is the concept / which are suggested dishes). Absolutely no spice / punch on different dishes (tried soup, tried owen baked potatoes and meat). Confused staff.. Mixing serving times, no water / bread offered and overall - people seemed to have crazy wednesday..

Mixed reviews - one great and one awful

Mixes review...... happened to visit twice on the same day within 2hs. First visit was very good - came in for lunch. Ordered chicken wings, fish soup and chicken sish, Food came at a good time, generous portions, great presentations. loved how they serve fish soup - with sour cream, with bread and a shot of vodka, with lemon and spring onions - just delicious and great attention to details. We were seating inside, where the service was very good, attentive and quick. Second visit was very poor - decided to get a dessert after a walk and Ive seen a gluten free fondant on the menu, so went back to this restaurant. This time we were seating outside. Ordered two desserts, a coffee and tea. looks like there was a change of staff on duty as we were there...... a coffee was served in about 15 minutes. After 35min of waiting went to complain, and was told that fondant takes 20 minutes to bake...... after about 5 more minutes a tea was served. As we were about to leave (about 45min of waiting) the desserts have finally arrived. I guess it was just a bad luck, however really spoilt the first impression.

Unfortunate experience. In general food is ok. The thing is that in desperate desire to look modern or cool, they serve food which will look presentable on photos for insta but it doesn’t have any logic. Uncomfortable to eat. Understandable wish to have a hype looking dishes… but mushy single giant potato pancake with bunch of sour cream, salmon, greens etc on top is just an undesirable mess. Comfort is one of the most things my family cares for. Presentation has a value, it is an ultimate experience feature but if it ruins actual taste experience it is a failure. We tried other dishes - same issues. Service extra slow. But polite.

Yummy and friendly

We were recommended to visit this restaurant, and it was indeed worth the journey (came all the way from London, UK, on a family visit to Latvia). Tasteful décor, huge portions, an impressive selection of dishes, decent pricing, and great service. We were eight people, ordered a few starters and food platters, and it was so much food that we had to take half of it as a takeaway. too much. Can especially recommend the potato pancakes with sour cream and smoked salmon.

Your loss if you don’t try this Restaurant.

The food is not just delicious but the portion was huge. I intended to start with soup , before One of their signature salad but I ended up taking the salad away untouched cos I was too full to eat it after I finished the soup. The soup cost less than €7 and it comes with other accessories like special butter, freshly baked bread, cream, oil , rice 🥹 Not just the food but the cocktail taste and portion was on a different level, the glass was so big that it could cover one’s face, lol. Maybe this is why I could not eat the salad the cocktail was €4.5. The worst part was, I kept on staring at other people’s food before, while eating and after eating mine cos each food was presented in an appealing way, all the food looked attractive. The next day , I had no choice than go to their breakfast section to get another yummy food which was also great. I regretted that I could not order a take away while leaving Daugavapil. Please pass by this restaurant and thank me later

Waiting time one hour

Half empty place but the waiting time is at least one hour. We decided to give this place another chance the next day but it was the same and even not that much people were there. They mentioned that they have “reservations”. Isn’t it possible to find a balance between reservations and people who are willing to make an order on the spot?

Frying pan + RoThko

Actually the name of the place is SkovoroTka with “T”, which is a play of words: “small frying pan” in Russian + RoThko (tribute to famous Daugavpils born artist). Focus on the client and good quality/price combination! Nice and cosy!

The staff was friendly and the food was good. This restaurant located close to the train station in Daugavpils is one that I can recommend. I had the pork shashlik and was not disappointed .
