Unique enviroment

We were impressed by the decoration of this restorant that i believe very traditional estonian. The service was very good and kind. The food was taste and we had a chance to taste Estonian course and drinks. We are sure to come back if we have the chance to visit again the town

Trad Estonian Food

A short walk from the center of Tartu but worth the effort. Good place to try traditional Estonian cuisine and many others as they have an extensive menu complete with pictures and English translation. Service was all smiles and dining venue adjacent to a fountain. A.LeCoq Premium and Alexander both on draft.

Good service. The children really liked the crispy chicken. Varied menu, food for every taste. The interior was interesting.

Lovely restaurant-shame about the food and service

Walked into this empty restaurant and looked around for service. Saw grim faced young lady sitting folding paper napkins. Gave me a menu and told me to find a table!!! Ordered oven baked pork that came so quickly, it must have been microwaved and tasted accordingly. Not a smile or pleasantry. Dreadful experience.

Basic food and weird service

The place itself was really beautiful and filled with flowers. Unfortynately our whole table agreed that food was quite basic "tourist food": the menu was extremely long, options were basic and the food was the same you get from a cheap lunch place. However, the worst thing was extremely slow and cold service. It took way too long for us to get the menus and ages to be able to order. We got our drinks about 45 min after our arrival and maybe 45 min after that we got our food. We were just about to pay just for the drinks and leave when the food arrived. I don't know if they had a lack of staff or something: no one explained, apologized or even mentioned the waiting time as they normally do in restaurants. All in all, the whole experience was very confusing. I'm giving two stars only because the place was beautiful.

Don’t go here! Tourist trap! It’s expensive for Tartu and not good at all!! For this type of “local cuisine” restaurant you would at least expect big portions, but we left hungry :(

True estonian food

Our family loves visiting Hansa Tall. They serve the most authentic Estonian food that our grandmonthers used to make. It's like going back to our childhood. The servings are huge and you are guaranteed to leave with a full stomach! After leaving Estonia for two years this was the first place we wanted to eat when we got back!

Good food at reasonable prices

The menue comes with fotos that do not really show the food that later is served. The food is far better. The salmon was excellent, the dish in total very good. The beer can be served in one litre mugs, which is impressive. The restaurant closed a little early at 22:00.

Good food, super expensive Coca

bovine cheeks were well cooked and tasty, chicken dumpling soup was delicious also price was okeish. But how on earth can a 250ml Coca Cola cost 6€?

Place could be awesome, but it's overpriced.

This place has a nice atmosphere. The ribs are very good, but the menu is quite expensive and you can't get free tap water! With some small changes and consistently friendly service, this place could attract lots more people!

Very good meal in an interesting setting

Hansa Tall is at the other end of town but is worth the walk (or taxi ride) as the food is very good and the setting is quirky but interesting with lots of stuffed animals and antique adorning the walls. We ordered the smoked pork chops and the chicken stuffed with ham and cheese and coated with sesame seeds. Also had a couple of nice large beers and a very filling plate of boiled dumplings and the entire bill came to 34 Euros. Portions were large and the meal was very tasty and filling.

Hearty food in a rustic setting

The restaurant is dark, filled with old collectibles such as antique farm implements, photos, and taxidermied animals. It sort of resembles an old beer hall. The food was good, very hearty and tasty, and of course there was a well stocked bar. Good value. Free parking.
