Sunday night Birthday party dinner

We went there in a Sunday night for a birthday party of a friend. The restaurant has a nice bar/lounge where you can wait for the other persons and drink an aperitif, unfortunately they didn´t had champagne of any kind but we fortunately find out a Portuguese sparkling wine, though the drink menu is big enough in spirits. Upon all people arrived we went to the main room restaurant escorted by our waiter, we asked for starter a Red Caviar Plate with the toasted bread and the garlic and butter. For main we asked the WILD BOAR in red wine ( a red wine stewed choice-cut boar meat with potatoes ) and the Pelmeni «VILLAGE style» ( a dough pelmeni overcooked in an oven under a lid with a forest mushroom sauce ). Both starters and main courses were really good and we even had the bonus of a traditional Russian accordion player through all the dinner. The service was very good and friendly and all the waiters were helping a lot in the explanation of the plates. All would be perfect if it didn´t took long time to arrive the food but that is what is wine is made for, the waiting moments of the food :)

Very good dinner

I visited over Christmas. It was very cold and snowy out thus I assume this is why there was no dancing or live music when I visited. I began with a flight of flavored vodka shots, followed by red caviar with salad. For my main course I had the bear stroganoff. The food was excellent. I found the service to be attentive. The interior is very unique. Slightly expensive compared to other options.

Very nice Russian restaurant with Russian national foods. My personal favourite restaurant on the Raekoja square. Even waiters wear Russian national clothes. Appetizers are the best. They also have a children’s menu. People who don’t like Russian national foods may not find much to eat.

Best restaurant in Tallinn

Our visit started already with a very pleasant experience with a friendly, helpful, patient personelle. The menu has offered a splendid tasty choice, from a familiar until luxuriously delicious dishes. We decided to taste everyone something different. The dishes came served incredibly beautiful plates. The gourmet plates served in a portion that stills your hunger just wright- not like in another gourmet restaurants, serving just a bite. The best meat in Tallinn we have tasted so far. The plates without meat were not less great and tasty. Great location- at the Town Hall place. The best place to enjoy the medieval Tallinn, eat fine and get satisfied, without blown up prices and try Russian cuisine ( if your feel like, but not only).

Catastrophic service

Right in the middle of Old Town in Main Square(Raekoja Plats), so you know this is a tourist trap, but I have still always kind of like them. Been here several times and food has been good(especially dumplings) and if you go to their downstairs, they have all kind of "shows" there, from live music to dancing. On a sunny evening, we decided to have a dinner on their terrace. Because of Covid-19 they said in Finnish newspaper, that they have all kinds of discounts and welcomed all tourists back. But our male waiter mad everything he could to NOT welcome us. Slow service, forgetting orders and not a single euros any discounts. And when we paid and didn't press "tip the waiter" button, he gave us some angry looks and mumbled something. Food was also tasteless this time, probably from freezer or something

Do not eat at Troika Restaurant the Main Square in old town.

One starter was garlic bread with salted pork, which turned out to be black bread without garlic and the salted pork was lard. Only the bread without garlic was eaten, not the fatty lard. The other starter was soljanka soup, which was ok, but missing the depth of a real stock. Then one main course was filé Stroganoff with a sauce made of flour and milk with no taste. Had to add a lot of salt and pepper. Another main course was a pork chop without the bone and overcooked with unsalted fried potatoes. Both main courses hardly edible. Service was fine, but the chef needs to improve his skills. The prices at the main square are also on the very high end. I recommend to go outside the square in order to get decent food for a fair price.

Disappointment - high prices, simply bad food

Restaurant almost empty at 6 pm. Prices are very high compared to other restaurants near the old towns square, the quality of food was very bad, almost no taste at all (ordered salmon and boiled potatoes and blini with minced meat). All the food tasted like it was made yesterday and no salt, no pepper, no taste. Couldn’t finish these dishes. Also mentioned this to the waitress, and she didnt react at all. Very professional? Will not go there again and cannot recommend this place to anyone.

Worst service ever!

I only rated 1 star but it is not possible to rate 0 or minus stars. The personnel is so impolite!!!!! Tried to eat there for lunch but there were no table (of course that's not the problem), so they told us so in a very impolite manner, just "no table" or something like that, no "hi/hello....". (that's positive next to how they treated us later). Since we really wanted to eat there, we booked a table for the same night. We show up, the employee tells us to go to the tables upstairs where there are other servers taking care of that floor. Nobody talks to us, we sit at the table for 15 minutes and nobody has looked at us or said anything to us (and they aren't even busy, and they are just doing other things like preparing table that have no clients). We decide to just get up and leave, we pass next to them they see us and say nothing and don't even care!!!!!! Worst service I have ever experiences, wouldn't recommend to anyone an will never try to go there again.

Cold soup

We were eating with family. All of us ordered chicken soup. Restaurant was full of customers and we waited long time our food. Finally chicken soup arrived, but soup was cold. We asked new soup waited more. This time food was really hot. Size of soup was really small, really expensive and bread was cheap market bread.

My friend is a fan of trying some exotic food and in this restaurant they have it. Bear meat I’m no fan of exotic food so I order vegetarian one it’s was good I didn’t expect that and my friend told me that the bear meat is incomparable to the other exotic meat that he tasted. Aside from the food the restraint interior design is really nice. The price is not that cheap but as a traveler like me who always what to try something new It’s not bad once in a while.

Bad tender loin

We ordered tree troika tender loin steaks with potatoes. 2/3 steaks were over cooked. Only my steak was medium cooked and the meat doesn't even look like a tender loin. One of us asked new steak, but once again it was over cooked. It was unable to cut or chew. We had to pay only of two steaks, but the restaurant doesn't give very professional image.

Them potatoes even were boiled yesterday. Wondering whether there’s a chef working or the waitresses kids are working in the kitchen. Better value you get walking into mc Donald’s, and having them cheeseburgers!! Ridiculous kitchen work, if there’s any in the building! Just a scam for tourists! Never go , better buying snacks from some department store! Drinks from bottle authentic though

Delicious Russian cuisine with great views

Very pleasant experience with delicious and authentic food. The location overlooking the main square is very nice, the staff was accommodating and everything was served quickly. Of course, this is the only restaurant with country cuisine in the most central tourist location of Tallinn, accordingly it is not extremely cheap - especially if you are there like me to taste bear.;-) But overpriced we did not find it now, was definitely worth its money and we would go back.

Excellent happy hour

My partner and I stumbled upon this place while out in Tallinn, excellent 50% off we ate drank and became merry. Prices not expensive even without discount, food delicious and staff friendly. We tried the vodka and red caviar but didn’t opt to plane a game to win more😊Russian stew was delicious. Restaurant quirky and full of oddities. Would recommend and return.

Terrible service and workers very unfriendly

Terrible service. The women outside was very unfriendly and they forgot our food. I ordered dessert (they also forgot) and after 30 min waiting asked for the bill. Dessert didn't arrive but on the will was the price for sure. There are many other nice places to eat in Tallinn. I won't recommend this one to any of my friends
