We just love this restaurant, there has never been any bad experiences during the last 10 years, since we found this restaurant. Every time we come to Tallinn, just like last Tuesday, the plan was to come to Controvento and have a perfect three course...meal, a cocktail and a nice bottle of excellent wine. We ate bruschetta, linguine with prawns in spicy cream sauce and finished with ice-cream in whisky & coffee. The service was friendly and fast as always, and we left feeling happy and knew, that we will be back to this restaurant again soon.More
We did just go for a wine and Irish coffee
But the pitza at the next table did look and smell very good
Btw, in my opinion the Irish coffee was served in a wrong type of glass
Although, it did taste good. Should be...also noted that the cream was wiped and not from a spray jar
The place was cozy with a friendly serviceMore
Every time I visit Tallinn I have to go and have a lunch or dinner here because it never disappoints. The food is consistently good but I especially love the starters so I would recommend to have those. From the main dishes, pastas and risottos...are best in my opinion. My favourite is the pasta carbonara that I have every time. In addition the atmosphere is nice and very italic. If you are looking for a excellent Italian restaurant in Tallinn, this is the place to go.More
I can't even count how many times I have been here and year after year, I want to go back. Short walk away from Old Town's Main Square, Raekoja Plats, on a narrow charming alley. It was warm summer day, so we decided to sit...outside. Inside their place is cozy, especially during winter time, when there's fire on their fireplace. Service is friendly, wine list good and what is the best, is their food. You can find all your Italian favourites from Pizzas and Lasagnes to Carpaccios and Pastas here. My all time favourite is their starter, Vitello Tonnato. Not the cheapest Italian in town, but for dinner, the best.More
Chose to have dinner in the place based on good reviews here. Should have read the reviews more carefully though and avoided the pasta like many other reviewers suggested. The place itself is nice with good atmosphere and good service, and the pizzas in the...other tables also looked nice. However, the Spaghetti alla carbonara was barely a one star performance with its lack of taste, watery consistency and fatty uncooced bacon. Spaghetti Bolognese was better but still nothing to write home about: bland and boring. The place itself and service four stars, Bolognese two and Carbonara one star. Opt for pizzas instead.More
I´ve been to Controvento many times and their pizzas are divine. This time we had Pachino and Emilia Romagna and we were not disappointed. Service is good and the place is nice rain or shine - winter of summer.
We had lunch here and ordered fish. Grilled trout was very good. It was a bit difficult to find this place because the address is Vene 12, but the restaurant actually is on a narrow alley which starts at Vene 12.
In italian restaurants there...is no price for a portion, but everything ( food, salad etc. has own price ). Tasty food.More
As an Italian, I can say 100% this place is where to go if you want proper Italian food. I got a beer Tipopils and a linguine all’Arabbiata which we’re kindly suggested by the Italian waiter. Service is good and very quick.
I've been to Controvento several times, with family and friends, and I like its Italian atmosphere (and as an Italian, this is not something I take for granted!). You can enjoy good food (I like their pizza so much!) in a beautiful historical building, far...from those super turistic Italian restaurants where the atmosphere seems a bit fake.
The food is really good, approved by my Italian parents and grandparents alike!More
