Our Chef Marko Kaljend have grown out of the same kitchen, from which he is now creating a creative and free street kitchen based on their fresh handwriting. The place was surprising to see where it was located however once you try the food it is exceptional! They have amazing option very creative and exceptional service! I am very sorry I do not know the young gentleman’s name but he was very attentive towards everyone and smiling all the time with us. Definitely recommend the Sardines my father had them and I tried and it was outstanding!Please make sure that you tell the staff what you are allergic to before because the ingredients are not mentioned in the menu. Go early as well because we were very excited to try the crispy pork but there wasn’t any left when we got there. Around 8 it finished. Other than that everything else was amazing! Definitely recommend to go!

My friends booked for a lunch one of their favourite restaurant for a lunch. The menu was long and diverse enough and pretty healthy. Good and fast service.
My octopus with souse was pretty good, but the portion was for that price too small (in Brussels I usually get 2 times more).
Selection of white wines was very limited, but proposed Risling was good for the seafood.

The food is for sure very good. Atmosphere as iti is for a tiny cellar room, ve ry nice. But some food are really overpriced; recommend not to order Taiwanese dumplings Ba-Wan with pulled duck, harissa-honey sauce, tomato chips and cilantro sprouts! It's in real just 4 pc dumplings, yes in tasty souce with 1 slice of backed tomato, all by 18.- eur! sorry but just too much for too little.
Otherwice all good, including service.

Great snacks. Disgusting main courses. Not restaurant level.
Octopus with potatoes is strong. Unbalanced, incomprehensible, tasteless. The taste of the side dish is like the taste of canned fish.
Risotto alla Tiriol is sour, ill-conceived, undercooked.
I don't recommend spending your money on this.

I have such fond memories of this restaurant as the atmosphere and food has always been delicious. Unfortunately for the first time I experienced very bad customer service from the managerial level as our booking that had been done 11 days prior was cancelled 3 days before we were meant to enjoy our evening in this restaurant. Apparently no one “noticed” our booking even though it was confirmed originally. What was offered instead of our booking being at 8pm was to change it to 6pm which did not suit our schedule. After several emails left unanswered I called the restaurant and spoke with the manager Janek who also emailed me and his attitude was not very customer service-like as he said there was a booking for a big group and our booking is just for two so “it doesn’t work like that”. He was offering options for the evening before and the following day with bottle of wine/dessert on the house but again this didn’t suit our plans as we are only tourists in the city. I asked him to keep the booking for 6pm in case we can’t get a table elsewhere as for the most popular restaurants in Tallinn you have to make a booking (and that’s why we did book this so early on) and send an email afterwards to confirm this booking in writing. Never heard back and we never visited. I acknowledge that restaurants are a business and eventually the main point is to make money, however it is also a hospitality industry and a customer should be treated with respect no matter how much money they bring in to the business. Hope this would be acknowledged on the owner level as well. Instead we enjoyed a fabulous dinner in Mantel & Korsten where food was delicious and customer service was top-notch!

We changed our reservation to Salt based on a recommendation from a colleague. The food was delicious and nicely put. The staff was friendly and put effort to find us a suitable wine as our portions were mix of sea food and meat. The place is very small but it only gives it a nice and cosy atmosphere. Just make sure you arrive on time as there is no bar to sit for waiting.

Excellent value for money. We had tuna as a starter - it was fresh and full of flavour. Duck and Dorada as main course both tasted simply delicious. Also the atmosphere was warm and relaxed. We highly recommend Salt!!

the food was good, it was also option to make pasta with cheese for kids. the dissapointment was, that there was no much space inside. the waiter asked my husband to sit in unconvinient side, because she couldn't serve the food for other table, but it wan't our fault.

We visited Salt for a Friday evening dinner. The menu was the most interesting one we experienced during our visit to Tallinn: oysters, frog legs, beef tataki, octopus... And everything was delicious! Also the wine pairings were good, and the services was very friendly. It was all in all the best restaurant experience we had during our 3-day-visit.
The weather outside was warm, so it was quite warm also inside the restaurant. But the restaurant was not crowded as many customers were eating on the terrace, so it was OK.

Almost year ago one of my friends told me that Salt restoran is a place worth to visit. Today I can say: "Yes, she was right!" The main dish Octopus with Crispy Potatoes was really delicious & the dessert Pavlova with lemon cream was excellent. Very friendly service. Take your time and visit this nice, little restaurant!

The restaurant is quite small, for ab 30 customers. The decor is, well, cosy, maybe a bit cluttered even. When we arrived the restaurant was packed. For me there were too many people stuffed in such a small space. We were struggling hearing each other speak. It was hard to hear the waiter too. The food was really good! But the atmosphere was a bit too much to enjoy for a long time. So we ended up just having a main course, even we would have liked to have more.

Very good! Nice place to spend time. Very subtle but foods are over the top - different like in no other place and delicious. Also service is worth pointing out as you are made to feel as you were at home. Superb! A must place to visit if you’re in Tallinn.

This morning a Tallinn dinner recommended this restaurant to us. We were supposed to go to the Gobi tonight. But since this was fully booked, we called the Salt and got another table. Already at the front door I saw the many awards this restaurant has received in recent years. But from the outside, I could already see that this restaurant does not have one thing: a nice decor. Although a designer probably thinks otherwise. Anyway, I thought it was pretty loveless. But good....tasting.
Which it is in terms of food. And that didn't tear me off my seat. Because I had nice tender beef fillets, especially a fuller plate. Fortunately, I wasn't so hungry tonight, otherwise I would have walked out of the restaurant in this state.

Salt is the best "neighborhood" restaurant in Tallinn. It is small and cozy with a mixture of furniture. It is often full since it is very popular. It will get cramped Friday and Saturday nights. So if that is not your style this is not for you. However, if you like excellent food, good service and being in the middle of a mixture of locals and tourist, this is for you. If you have a reservation on a Friday or Saturday, don't arrive late. Order a good bottle of wine, share starters and enjoy excellent main dishes. My favorites are the Thai mussels and the Polpo. Then finish off with Pavlova and limoncello. Cheers!
