Don’t be fooled by first impressions off the Main Street. Dined here this evening and was waited in by Carmen who was fantastic, gave excellent recommendations was knowledgeable, polite and very courteous. We will return.

Average good food but we expected more based on a visit a few years ago. Service was friendly and we did not have to wait for long. We warmly recommend passionfruit coctail and coffee icecream. Fish cevice had too much sour (vinegar and tomato) so...that you could not taste the fish. Duck breast was unsurprising as well as the the fish of the month. House wines average or below.More
Hmmm. A lovely setting but the front door kept being left open allowing a cold wind to make diners uncomfortable. Why not just keep it locked? We were 3 diners and our bread plate came out with 3 white bread but just 2 dark bread....The restaurant name is French, the food is sort of Italian, the wine list is sort of Italian oriented. All a bit mixed. Service was a cut above Estonian standard but definitely below the other good restaurants we had eaten at in Tallinn. But it was far from bad. We had to ask for serviettes. The dishes themselves were very good. The pasta with prawns dish was cooked then the prawns put on top and the plates were cold. The duck was delicious and perfectly cooked but served Luke warm. I guess that means it was well rested. The wine list was short but ok. The house red, a primitivo was perfectly acceptable. So all in all, it’s a puzzle to me why this is in the Michelin guide. However you will get a good meal here.More
Good quality food. We were happy with the menu items as all seemed to be professionally made. Staff was professional and attentive.
Superp atmosphere. Try beef tartar it's perfect! super quick and attentive staff. Little pricy but if you are looking for somwthing fancy this is the place to go.
So what can one say is the best thing about Cru? Well in our case it was the take-away pizza we picked up after we'd left prematurely mid-way through the meal. On reflection I suppose we should have realised this was going to be all...furcoat and no knickers when our starter arrived - a 'Hot Smoked Salmon salad'. I've eaten this type of dish many a time, although normally I pick it up from a service station convenience shop and it's presented in a plastic box with a small pot of dressing on the side and a price tag a third of what we were being charged here. In this case the dressing had been puddled onto a ludicrously moulded plate and the component ingredients dumped on top in a random order of some salad leaves. Unremarkable is the kindest thing one can say but as we had already breached a reasonable Cotes du Rhone we gave them the benefit of the doubt and awaited our mains. We waited a bit more, as did our waitress who was attentive and apologetic at the length of delay but seemingly unsurprised that the clock had by now completed a full hour. Eventually the mains appeared - "Roasted Whitefish Fillet" and "Grilled Beef Fillet Steak" We had enquired as to the provenance of the Whitefish but I think the explanation got lost in translation. What arrived was a stiff, salinated husk of pescataria perched (I use the noun advisedly) on a splash of indiscriminate vegetables, all of which had boiled to death. It was so overly salty as to be inedible making us think that it may have been salt cod that had not been soaked adequately or rinsed through. The other main was the "Grilled Beef Fillet Steak" - in fact a 'Grilled Beef Rump (possibly Sirloin) Steak' which is fairly unambiguously not lost in translation but straight forward mis-representation. Lying atop was a garland of burnt kale and it was surrounded by some spoonfuls of baby-food smooth root vegetables beginning to crimson by the seepage of blood that had leached from the steak. I mean really guys? For an establishment that has a Michelin plaque hanging on the front wall you'd have considered that resting a steak before serving is basic cookery, especially if you're putting a €25 price tag on it. At this point we cut our losses and decided to leave. The manager did agree that perhaps we did not receive what we were expecting, offering a lame excuse that the Beef was indeed a fillet, just not a Filet and did offer to cook us something different but given the dishes so far we declined and paid for what we had consumed. The waitress was suitably embarrased on our behalf, looking as if she'd witnessed this before and would again, no doubt soon, while the manager was suitably unfriendly, probably more interested in playing to his locals propping up the bar who were making disparaging remarks as we left. In conclusion Cru has a fabulous location and is a well turned out/decorated space it is just woefully let down by what comes out of it's kitchen which, for a restaurant, is somewhat crucial. Probably the best thing to order would be a Bolt Scooter and pop just around the corner and eat at R14 - now they know how to cook (& at a similar price)More
Hello, Thank you very much for your review and comments, which are highly appreciated to improve our self. We are truly sorry that you had a such a bad experience at our restaurant, regarding the service and food, it is kind a surprise to read...More
It took 3 h to serve dinner. The dessert was Line lipstick and the fish was raw. To me it was a disappointment. I want not to come again.
I have had several wonderfull meals in Cru during years. This time we ordered a shrimp pasta and this was a mistake. It was cold and dry and tasteless. Avoid this!
Very bad experience and I have to share it so that other people wouldn't have their evening spoiled. I felt ashamed that I took a friend to this restaurant. We had to wait for half an hour till they took our order and than for...another half an hour till we got our order. The pasta was cold. Drinks were served only after the food. Bare table : no bread served, no water glasses, no candles, nothing. They didn't bring us even napkins. I am very dissapointed about this place.More
Incredible! We had one of our best meals in this restaurant! The staff were so attentive and friendly. Our meals tasted and looked far more expensive than we were charged. We ended our meal with a shared crust less cheesecake that we absolutely thought was...divine and a sweet rhubarb wine that is locally made. Also if you are guests of the hotel, you receive 10% of the entire meal that includes drinks. We loved the hotel as well.More
Nice vibe but there are better restaurants in Tallinn at this price point. Just down from the Viru Gate it’s situated in the heart of the Old Town. We had a couple of the negronis (which could have passed for nest Campari) and some of...the Rioja - fine. We had the borsch and beef tartare to start followed by the fish of the day and the duck. The beef tartare was good as was the duck but the borsch was a bit lacking in flavour. We didn’t bother to stay for dessert as nothing from the menu really grabbed us. Nothing really to write home about this place. Rataskaevu16 is a better option.More
Delicious food that's reasonably priced for a posh restaurant. They do provide a complimentary coat check, but table service was only good, not exceptional. Nonetheless, we were just happy to score the last open table for two that they had for the evening. I do...recommend this restaurant to others but would strongly suggest making a booking to ensure that you get a table. I hope readers will find my review and photos helpful.More
Cozy little restaurant situated only 200 meters from the Town Hall Square in a cozy, busy pedestrian street. Our food (loin of elk - try it!) was really tasty and delicious - and something had really been done with the appearance: In Cru there is...something for both the eye and the stomach. Service was absolutely impeccable and personally, our waiter was very attentive. We had to leave early for the airport, so the restaurant agreed to open ½ hour earlier than normal only because of our reservation - fantastic service! Prices are at the high end for Tallinn, but it is absolutely worth it!More
Very accommodating to allergy, food was excellent and staff very attentive. Would definitely recommend for an evening meal
We went for dinner and had reserved a table. It took 1 hour to get the starters, we were given complementary drinks and the waitress apologized and then we waited for another hour for the mains. There must have been something wrong in kitchen staffing...or something else. This was our second time in Cru, the food was nice as always but we will not go back to this experience. Nothing to do with the waitress, she was really nice but problem obviously somewhere else.More
