Located inside the Town Hall on the main floor, this little gem of a restaurant was a pleasant find. I visited somewhat on a whim as I had seen streams of people coming in and out during my first few days in the city. There...really isn’t a menu so much as “daily offerings” which in my case included elk sausage, soup, croissants filled with meat and carrot, and of course that staple of the medieval diet… copious amounts of beer. The lady at the register was clearly in character and I had to chuckle a bit as I read some of the reviews that referred to the staff as rude. This is a Middle Ages experience through-and-through, including the lack of silverware and anything remotely resembling a well-lit room or waitresses that clean the plates from your table. Moreover, the price is right! Take a chance, swing by, and have some fun. Cheers!More

TOURIST TRAP ALERT!! The place was really nice, a medieval tavern experience, rustic food and decor… BUT, the landladies are very rude & disrespectful. They charged me 20 Euros when clearly the bill said 17.50, and when I went back to get my change the...landlady was rude and reluctantly gave me the money. Then I went on their website and checked price of wine, the big glass of wine to be charged Euros 5, but they charged me 10, I went and complaint, the landlady was shouting in front of everyone and said “If you dont like the place, perhaps you should not be here” I was a lone traveller and was disrespected and cheated! Such a disappointment! Never returning back to this place if the attitude is as such! They still owe me Euros 5More

We just loved this discovery of Tallinn. Definatelly must try!Self service and easygoing stop right in the heart of the downtown (main square/church). Good prices (could be cheaper, but its a capital and very touristy after all). We took soup, each of pastry and saussages....Vey tasty! Ww also took pickles (free of charge, but you gotta serve and find them yourself:)). We also loved the homemade beer and cider. Would reccomend to everyone!More

Excellent vibes in this place, feels like you’ve been transported back 800 years into a medieval world. The food it’s really good and cheap and the landlady is very very funny.

I went to that place with a friend not expecting anything at all and I must say that I´m totally impressed. Since the moment we went in the landlady began with her tipical way of introduce us in a medieval enviroment. She was kind of...joking with us but in a really nice way. That totally catched me to remain in. Then began the best. We took a look around and the place is literally unique. Every single thing is accurate with a proper medieval enviroment. And what to say about the ribs, I would like to come back to Tallin even just to eat them once again. If are not the best I´ve ever tried are one of the best 100%. I hope to go back to this place as soon I go back to Tallin. Amazing.More

A real experience from start to finish Ill Drakoon is a real insight into the medieval past. Located in a 12th century town hall, to walk through the door is to go back in time. The room is lit by candlelight and the beer is...served in jugs. The bar maid was in character as a bolshy bar wench. Hilarious, authentic and cutting. She rules the roost and lets you know about it. The elk soup was delicious and great value at €2.50. My partner absolutely devoured the enormous ox ribs. I also enjoyed stabbing pickles in a barrel (you can have as many as you like for free). If you're brave, try the dragon tears shot but if you're going to cry, make sure to go outside. An amazing, must do experience for the open minded traveller.More

Great atmosphere. You really get transported into an other era. I think that the “rudeness” some are referring to is a part of the consent. For example when I asked for a menu, the response was “I don’t have an education my lady, I don’t...know how to write, but ask me and I’ll tell you”. The food is medievalist as well. Very small menu. Soup, sausages, pies, mulled wine and beer. Overall a great experience.More

As you walk through the door of this pub, you will be teleported to a time long, long ago. Order at the front, find your seat and obey the rules (which are posted on the wall) and you'll have a good time. Do be careful...upon entering as it's very dark inside and will take your eyes a bit to adjust. NOTE: My rating is for a drinks experience only as we didn't eat here. TOP TIP: Try the mulled wine, it's delicious. I hope readers will find my review and photos helpful. Follow @tabestravels for more.More

For all people mentioning that the staff is rude, please check the website of this place. You travel back in time where the staff was rude, but actually they are quite hilarious. Super nice beer and soup in an ancient setting!

Bad service. It seems that politeness of the staff depends on personal sympathy or antipathy. When I asked some questions about food and drinks, to understand what to take, I haven't got any clear answer. It was very firm impression, that girl wouldn't like to...see me and my friends at this place. Moreover, you should give extra money to the staff but...for what? If they would be more polite, it would be ok, but with such bad manners it looks strange.

Went here today and really liked the setting until one of the customers started talking to us. He was touching my friend and we asked him politely if he can leave us alone. We tried to not pay attention to him but he kept disturbing...us. Later he was discriminating us about race and sexual orientation. My friend left and the lady shouted at my friend that he had to clean the table. I walked to the lady and explained the situation. She said that she’s a lady and that I’m a tall man so I could solve it myself with him. We tried to solve it already otherwise I wouldn’t go ask for help to this lady. We felt really offended by this customer and it’s really irresponsible that the lady didn’t help us. We felt very unwelcome here.More

I have been to so many restaurants in Tallinn, and the staff was quite nice and polite in general. This place was shocking with their super rude staff. We came first to this place in 2014 (back then it was good), and after 7 years,...we went there today. Since it was dark, we couldn't see the lady (who serves the soups) who was sitting in the corner when we first entered. And when we attempted to go inside to sit in, she gave us a very unfriendly attitude (not normal, not unpolite, but just super negative, like looking down on us), 'lectured' as if we should have known how it works there etc.. We were shocked...Plus, when I wanted to take a photo when she was giving soup (just because it was a medieval concept etc., and nobody in Olde Hansa said anything when I did the same there), she almost yelled... At first, I thought she was having a bad day. But apparently, now that I read the other reviews who complained about the rudeness of the same lady multiple times, she seems to be rude all the time... The soup was ok (not great, just ok), the ambiance is good. But the staff ruined the experience. Such a pity to have such rudeness in this good ambiance.. If you seek a medieval ambiance, then just go to Olde Hansa, which is great, with great food and great staff. No need to go to this place..More

People who give this a poor rating probably never read any fantasy or medieval fiction. It's a tavern with a proper tavern-staff. Medieval atmosphere and some scripted jokes, but who cares. The food was great and cheap. Excellent beer. Would come here for a quick...but enjoyable lunch.More

I doubt that, as they didn't know about gluten in 1453. But it's more of a place where you go for a quick lunch, so it won't take long to figure that out. They got soup (mostly meat, you gotta ask), pies (like a shepherd's... More
