I went to the restaurant "Munga Kelder" (The Monks' Cellar) this evening for dinner. The restaurant itself, not surprisingly, is located in a cellar and is very nicely done; cozy atmosphere. I decided to eat outside in their sidewalk seating, but only because it was such a nice evening. The staff was nice and pretty efficient. Main courses ranged from... More

Over a 3 night stay in Tallinn this was the best place we ate either for lunch or dinner. There is an outdoor street-side café but we ate in what appeared to be renovated cloisters below ground level. Tastefully re-styled with old beams and heavy wooden furniture it has a homely feel and the food was great. French onion soup... More

I went there attracted by the variety of the menu, I asked to the waitress a typical estonian dish and she suggested me a very good one: pork meat (maybe overcooked), potatoes and a kind of vegetables, everything on a bed of a mushrooms cream. I was very satisfied at the end of the lunch!

Went for drinks. Lovely and really polite staff. Nice music to spend a nice sunday afternoon. Food was above average, good and tasty. Low prices compared to the city restaurants.

Nice terrace in the pretty street but that's all about it. Food was below the average. Won't be going back again.

The soup was terribly salty (even for me!), the tomato juice was gotten sour, so had to be replaced. And the tip of 20% is always included in the bill regardless you like it or not. Nice interior and friendly personnel though.

Visited there with my missus. We were lucky enough to get last free table on friday evening. Starters were very promising indeed. My deep fried estonian cheese with garlic sauce was more than good. My wife took creamy garlic soup which truly hit the spot. Although it was a bit distractig that they were playing eurosport on tv in a... More

This is my new "stammtisch" in Tallin. All the other places there used to be have closed or changed. Munga Kelder is the same as 20 years ago and I love it. I go there for seljanka and garlic bread. They have lots of other things as well. It is atmospheric and service is friendly. Please, do not renovate, do... More

Our family (2 adults, 1 student, 1 teenager and 1 child) ate in this restaurant. We liked the interior. The beefs were good and the potatoes were served in a luxorious way. Our student did not like the beef in a pot, because the menu did not tell what vegetables there would be. The pricing was in the middle class.

The French Onion Soup was perfect on a very snowy day for lunch. Rich and thick with soft onions and cheesy topping on the bread.. I wish they made their own bread like so many restaurants in Tallinn..
