Horrible, horrible 'Belgian' onion soup. Advertised as dark beer broth...my soup consisted of what appeared to be onions boiled in water, with two soggy slices of baguette stuck in. It was visually and tastefully unappealing. I did ask the waitress if the soup was similar...to French onion soup...i.e. with broiled cheese over grilled bread. She said it was so I assumed the difference was that with the broth (beer versus wine). Was wrong, neither beer nor wine had gone near this. My husband reported his lamb sausages were good. Wine was good and necessary. Thus the two stars versus one.
We noticed other tables were offered some sliced baguette beforehand. Not us.
Overall, this was in the top five of worst meals ever. And then we retired to our sparse and cold room next store. I am happy to report that our dining experiences improved over the next few days....in different restaurants.More
First of all the atmosphere, live music and servise disarmed me immediately and i fall in love deeply with this place 🥰 it is my favorite place and the most of all i like here mussels ,, velnio katilas,, and snails. These mussel are spicy...and special, just love it with french fries.More
We went there for a late lunch and were lucky enough to have the entire restaurant area only for us. As we are not great fans of mussels, we decided to rather go for a beef steak and oh holly cow what a treat that...steak was! It was perfectly cooked, the meat was soft and juicy, it was served with homemade Belgian fries, special pepper sauce and fried green beans - yummy! After this decent meal we still managed to share a chocolate souffle which was also delicious. Can easily recommend “Belgai” to anyone looking for a good Belgian cuisine in Vilnius.More
When travelling from country to country with your job, eating on your own can be a lonely event...... so the food had better be good!!
Thankfully everything at Belgae was excellent. Had moules frites and was extremely authentic. Cream and white wine sauce was perfect,...juicy mussels and perfect Belgian fries.
Staff were friendly and multi-lingual which made the experience one I would definitely recommend.
Attached to the hotel we were staying in, decided one evening to take the lazy option. A Belgian-themed restaurant, we went for the mussels, very over cooked and spent hours chewing on them, the chips were good.
