We found this cafe situated at the corner of the large square in the old town on the first day of our visit. We were so impressed that we returned every day during our stay. The array of cakes is mouth watering and the display...is incredible! The staff were warm & welcoming on each visit. The presentation of our order was attractive each time. Highly recommended.More

The Mayer Cafe is a very classic European Cafe, which is great. The cakes are great and tasty, coffee and tea were served properly and quickly. Very high class Cafe. Prices are reasonable. We have enjoyed it very much!

Located in the Old Town square, this is a good spot to grab a beer/cold or hot drink and some cheap eats while enjoying the view of the square. Good location, decent service.

We stopped by for cakes and coffee and the overall experience was great. The waiter was fast and friendly. As he brought us our order, I politely asked him to take a picture of us. He took at least seven-eight different pictures, made us laugh...and chatted with us. The coffee was good (and accompanied by a home made chocolate-coconut ball), but the desserts... The desserts were delicious! I had chocolate mousse, which was a little piece of art - covered in mirror glaze dark chocolate on the outside (with a tiny piece of edible gold), the mousse on the inside and a special surprise in the middle - the raspberry jelly. My husband had the Mayer cake and said that it was very good. The prices are relatively high, but this cafe is not for your ordinary everyday coffee, more for special occasions.More

Dropped in here for a late afternoon refresher. Nice selection of cakes and pastries available. The Sacher Torte, is probably the best away from the Sacher Cafe in Vienna. Prices were reasonable. Service was good and the staff spoke English. Cakes were lovely. Coffee, like...we experienced throughout Bratislava, is served not piping hot, but good non-the-less. Atmosphere is homely and old fashioned, as you might expect from this old established Cafe.More

Very big collection of cakes. Tried the caramel lava and it was perfect and not too sweet. Also had the fresh ginger tea which is great for winter. Fast service.

On arriving from Wien we were in need of a coffee. This cafe comes highly recommended and we were not disappointed. Two fine Macchiato. Accompanied by a Wien worthy Apfelstrudl. Good service from a friendly, buxom, waitress. Just right. Hayling Seagoon

On the corner one block away from Town Hall, in Bratislava's historic city center, this quaint cafe welcomed Emperor Franz Joseph himself. Delicious pastries, beautiful interiors and excellent service make a visit well worth it!

We have been visiting this cafe quite frequently since about 1993, when it was the most prestigious cafe in central Bratislava serving excellent coffee and wonderful cakes as well as savoury dishes. It was extremely well patronised by local dignitaries. However, in the last few...years the quality has deteriorated rapidly, largely it seems because of the large extension into the town square. Quality has been sacrificed for quantity, the choice and quality of the cakes has gone down rapidly, as has the service. When we visited the cafe this year the waitress was extremely brusque and totally unhelpful. The overall service was poor as was the selection of cakes. We left disgruntled. The cafe is a shadow of its former self.More
