The best homemade beer in town for sure, food was also great and the waitress had a bit of difficulty in English but we communicated perfectly and she was nice.

Food was good but the venue is lacking any real service professionalism or quality of experience. Shame as quite a few Slovak speakers there - not just foreigners - so missing both groups.

We were recommended to visit here by one of the staff in our hotel. I assumed it would be a tourist place, but I was wrong. There are a lot of tourists there for sure, but also a lot of locals. The beer was excellent,...very efficient service. We also ate some local fate, a stew type thing with dumplings and it was so filling. When we walked in the pub was really warm and really busy. We ordered drinks and sat at a table with some locals after asking if they minded. They were so friendly and helpful, with almost perfect English that I think they wanted to show. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend this pub.More

Seems that this place is like heritage in Bratislava. We went here for a quick lunch on a cold day in January. The place is huge with different rooms, very dark ambiance that even to read menu was not easy. Prices are very reasonable, service...could be better since waiter was very green. Opted for the goulash that came with potato on the side, goulash was good, side was not very enjoyable, price was super worth it at 8.50. A good place to visit, the place makes you feel as if you're stepping back in timeMore

On lively Obchodna street, a bit away from the old town, is another famous culinary institution of Bratislava, the '1st Slovak Pub', under the same ownership as the 'Bratislava Flagship', where I had been the evening before. Both are very big restaurants, but the Slovak...Pub feels different: not one big hall on three levels, since all is split up into 5 themed rooms and a terrace. There is a plan of the pub, explaining the place with the 'Pribina's Knights Room' (a 9th century Slavic prince, who spread Christianity), the 'Shtur Room', dedicated to Ludovit Shtur and the 19th century intellectuals of the Slovak National Revival, the 'Saint Cyril and Methodius Room' (in remembrance of the two Greek monks, who brought Christianity to the area and created the first Slavic alphabet). Then there is the 'Janosik Room', referring to the 18th century highwayman Juraj Janoshik, regarded as the Slovak Robin Hood. I happened to sit in the small 'Poet's Room', which I selected myself, since nobody was around, when I got there. Other customers, arriving at the same time with me, were leaving again, since there was no person to take care of them. It was not the best beginning, but I was lucky, because soon a young, very professional waiter arrived, who spoke excellent English, having lived for a while in Ireland. My choice for dinner was Roasted Pork Ribs with Bacon on top of Strapacky, the typical Sauerkraut-Potato Gnocchi. It was their most expensive dish and as I saw most other guests were ordering Gulash. To drink I had a pint of their homemade beer (Klashtorny Pivo, thus Monastic Beer) and finished dinner with an Espresso and a glass of Devinsky Ribeslak, a Redcurrant wine from around Devin Castle, which I had visited. I didn't expect much from it, but it was surprisingly good. During my stay in Bratislava I had dinner in four typical Slovak restaurants (besides the 1st Slovak Pub also the Bratislava Flagship and the two Koliba Kamzik) and I liked each of them, since they all had atmosphere, well prepared local food and always excellent service.More

We were there as a family. We ordered the traditional Slovakian starters dish for 2 Persons and some pork filet with fries. The food was tasty, the atmosphere is average (its a little dark inside), the waiters were ok- not friendly, not rude… The prices...are ok, but it’s not cheap - if you are searching for “cheap eats” on tripadvisor… i would rather give 2€ - average prices.More

We were looking for this kind of place. Traditional Slovakian food in a rustic restaurant. Friendly service and a big selection of authentic dishes. We loved the simplicity and the taste of the food. Drinks for a fair price e.g. dark beer 0,5l 2,60€. Free...wifi and credit cards no problem. They had some open fireplaces working which provided a cosy atmosphere. I would come back.More

Well, this was just what we needed on a cold wet day in Bratislava. Like weary travellers stepping in to a coaching inn for warmth and sustenance. This place delivered. Friendly welcoming staff, a log fire and a warm table for two. Try the garlic...soup in a bread roll bowl…delicious. Thank you for making us feel at home. Authentic, pleasurable pub to warm up and fill your tummies.More

We were very disappointed, because the waitress were very arrogant, unfriendly and impolite. There were lot of free tables but they couldn’t suggest any free table. Don’t go there!

Roast beef couldn't be chewed, onion was boiled not caramelised. If you want a schnitzel in the menu it shows as Fried pork.

Took a day trip by train from Budapest to see Bratislava. Great city. Went to one of the oldest pubs in the city, Slovak Pub. If you want authentic Slovakian cuisine and atmosphere, this is the place to go. Service and food were the best....This is a must go.More

Best thing to do is to look at the slovak pub listing on TripAdvisor and check the map as to the exact spot as they show it on the map. Hope that was helpful.
