Delicious food with amazing view!

We've visited this restaurant in August with family. We didn't book a table and even though it was peak time and lunch time we've been seated fairly quickly. The waiter was very nice, was really looking after us. As per my experience in other, busy restaurants, we always had to wait quiet long for our drinks and we've always finished our drinks by the time we received our starters, but not in this restaurant, serving was pretty fast even though all the tables were busy. The food was also delicious and the view is spectacular! Our overall experience was very good, will definitely return.

Great View but expensive

The view from this place is superb (an equally excellent view from the gents toilet which is slightly unnerving) and it has a nice chilled vibe about it. There are two levels, a slightly cheaper 'cafe' on the ground floor and the more expensive restaurant on the upper floor. The cheaper option was closed when we arrived so we were offered a seat upstairs for our drinks. We didn't opt for food as prices were very high and drinks were significantly more expensive than elsewhere. Clearly geared up for wealthy oligarchs over penny-pinching British/Hungarian families! Go for the view if you like or its a special occasion but its not for everyday.

The view is breathtaking so as prices :)

We came here for the first time and the place is amazing. The coctails we ordered were made with local lavender and were nicely decorated. Drinks were very good so as the view from the terrace on a Balaton lake. But you must be prepared on a bit higher prices (For better understanding, two coctails were around 20 eur).

unfair and overpriced

I visited this place a few times and I always had a good experience there but the last time wasn’t the same as earlier. One of my friend didn’t like her food and when the waiter asked what was the problem she told her complain and she didn’t eat her meal at all however she still had to pay for it. We didn’t argue but I think it’s unfair to make someone pay for a dish that she didn’t eat. And they made us pay for 1 litre of water 2380 Huf which I think is extremely overpriced! We won’t visit this place ever again. Nice view though

Disappointment

I’ve been here before and this is why I returned with my friends but unfortunately it was a huge disappointment. It was very cold inside there (rainy day) and our waiter told that there is no more blanket - which he could give 10 minutes later to another guest. This place is definitely not a cafe as once we told that we would like to have a cafe w a cake the waiter did not come back, a waitress came to us after we noted the situation...the plates were taken away in the same sec when we had the last bite. I did not feel like a guest here today. Complete disappointment especially nowadays - I cannot recommend this place w good heart and honest any more.

Excellent Food, Great View

We were in Hungary for a week and the food at Echo was one of the best meals we had. The staff were very friendly and the view is great. We had strawberry soup and grilled duck livers which were both excellent as the Wiener Schnitzel which was huge and delicious. Highly recommended.

Such a shame

Great view, horrible staff and service. When you call them to make a reservation in English. There is a woman on the phone who is very rude and doesn’t want to serve English speaking customers. Hanging up the phone constantly, while asking for a English speaking collegue. But “no” was all she said and hang up the phone. While a day earlier there were plenty of English speaking collegues. Later we ask an Hungarian guy to make a reservation, but than she wouldn’t pick up the phone anymore. But when I called with another number she did pick up. Such a shame for this restaurant.

- Place: Amazing view on Balaton from inside out. - Staff: Professional and polite (rare in Hungary). - Food Tip: DUCK LIVER with quince compote on crispy brioche is a must for everyone!! Best in my life so far! Special thanks to the cook!

Impressive location less impressed with the food

Fantastic view from the terrace Don’t let the fancy descriptions on the menu fool you. It’s average if not less. Orders arrive via the elevator Maybe the ride is too long but it definitely doesn’t arrive fresh and sizzling. Cocktail choice is limited For a place like this at least they should have a decent Bloody Mary. I must say, the duck liver was nicely done and presented but the rest of the meal was just blahhh … Go for a glass of wine and enjoy the view but dinner is not worth investing.

Marvellous view

To be located a beautiful place with awesome view facing the Lake Balaton. Menu list is perfect including fresh fruits and vegetables are in the season. Servicing kind and fast. Some title are overpriced eg. bottle water 2 euros however it come from the tap so without any essential mineral.

I totally dont recommend this place,we went inside and sat down waiting for the menu,no one bring for us. i had to take for myself. like 20 mins they didnt even look at us,they were packing some empty tables. we got angry and left,and they didnt even care,they just watched us walk away, without saying anything. place is beautiful but the people who work inside are a joke. I only feel sorry for the owner

Top notch restaurant 🌸

Top notch restaurant with heavenly views from a high ridge over the lake. Food to die for and a varied selection of cocktails including non- alcoholic ones. Staff is welcoming and professional. A must visit in Tihany!

An unexpected delight with great views. I must credit our guide Kata for selecting such a great restaurant and location. The food was exceptional and the service was beyond reproach. I enjoyed wild boar for the first time in my life. Authentic and delicious. Make it a priority to eat here because you will not be disappointed. The bonus is the view and the quaintness of Tihany. Great Dinner

There is so much that could be said about this place. There wasn't anything that was wonderful. We both had steak and it was excellent. Perfectly tender with grilled vegetables and a yummy sauce the likes I had before. The views are the absolute best on Lake Balaton. The service was to notch.

Best view of lake Balaton with decent food and drink

Come back to Tihany just for the restaurant echo. You get the best view of lake Balaton and decent food and drink. We drive all along from Budapest just for staying here for couple of happy hours from afternoon cafe to evening dinner.
