We arrived on the recommendation of friends, but regretted it. The fried catfish fillet tasted like engine oil and its texture was disturbingly watery. We have a strong suspicion that that was not catfish at all, but probably some low-grade pangasius fish. We were asked...if we would want some salad for the other dish (which was tasty, by the way), said no. They served some pickles as a side dish, and billed that in the end. Our overall experience was deep disappointment.More

This is a unique place, inside the restaurant decorated as a pirate boat and serves Mexican, Spanish and Hungarian cuisine on à la carte basis. Time and time again when I am in Tata, I go for dinner here. This time I took a client...and we enjoyed the tasty food and had real Hungarian hospitality...the food was great, the portions were big...and the service was extremely friendly and attentive, thanks to Andras! Highly recommended. In Hungarian its called "the Kalóz Fregatt Panzió & Étterem" as it is also offering accomodation in the same building.More

We had dinner on the occasion of my parents' wedding anniversary, here. We didn't inform the staff about this, so we didn't receive any special service. It was my first time there, while the rest of my family had already been familiar with the place....We were seated on the patio where we had access to the 2 cats who were happy if we petted them, but weren't nosy at all. I ordered fish and got help with the wine selection. Even though they were out of most wines, I ended up with one of the most delicious wines of my life. The waitress gently convinced my sister and my mother to try the wild mushroom soup and they didn't regret it at all. The portions are just right. They don't look big, but you can eat everything until the last bite. And although they're happy to pack you any leftovers, it's nice to start your meal without the thought: Okay, half of this will be packed up. The prices are reasonable, too. We were just lamenting over the thought of hosting our foreign guests in the pension of the restaurant when a neighbouring family started a loud family row, so we actually don't know if we should recommend our foreign friends to stay here or not. All in all, it was a pleasant evening.More

This is a tried thematic restaurant with good enough food but over priced. With exciting pirate ship interior design.

This restaurant has a very good chef, who not only uses the best ingredients but also pays attention to detail and presentation. It is not a cheap restaurant or pub, unfortunately, but it is well-worth it, so if you decide to eat out, Fregatt must...be the one place to go. I've been there several times and I've never been disappointed with the quality. The waiters are kind, too, the owners are lovely, the place is clean and quiet, the atmosphere is very friendly and special, my only problem is the prices...More

The food was good and well presented. There is good amount of outside tables under canvas. Defiantly worth a go.

This "pirate-themed" restaurant is fun, and the food is very good. Would return if we had another night. I had salmon, on top of potatoes, which was excellent. And they gave me a container with more sauce to put on it.
