But then -- he's not been trained, and that's the manager's fault, and one can expect no better from other waitstaff, OR he's been trained but he's not being supervised, and one can expect no better from other waitstaff. Beer standing for five minutes next...the tap before being brought to table, repeated attempts to obtain his attention acknowledged with eye contact and ignored thereafter . . . and rather than speak clear and grammatical Hungarian, one of the worst-botched versions of German I've encountered in a long, long time. Note to managers -- Not every foreigner is from Austria. Have your staff ask, Which language would you prefer to use ? Recommendation -- walk a bit along Torna and keep your eye out for Jimmy's. Yes, it's a greasy-spoon kebabbie. But the staff are friendly and the food is half the price of what Gusto offers.More
Visited in an afternoon after looking for some place to have a light snack. Ended up ordering some lemonades, pulled pork, burrito and pasta for kids. Everything was well cooked, portions were large enough, only complaint would be small tables (only a couple tables are...large enough for a proper dinner). Would recommend and return.More
Nice enough staff. Ordered Eggs Benedict , sorely disappointed. Eggs were overcooked (!) sauce seemed premade and very heavy handed.. could not finish my plate When you go to a restaurant and they can't cook an egg, it really is the basic requirement.. So no,...not good enough.More
Great menu for lunch and breakfast. Good coffee and seating both in - and outside. The food was good and deserved a higher ranking but the service was extremely poor.
Quick and polite service and nice food. Different menu for every day. Wirth to visit if you need a fine and quick solution!
Considering the general decline of the Hungarian restaurant industry this place is a shining star. Attractive, apparently non-intrusive, nicely set and clean ambient, good menu, well-dressed staff. This impression will change slightly if you try to sit on one of the high stools they provide....Try to avoid those. Service is medium slow, still within acceptable limits. The food presents some contradictions. Simple standard dishes like a fried sausage of pancakes taste good but they could not get the temperature right: either flaming hot or almost cold. Another contradiction is their interpretation of vegetarian dishes. It is commendable that they thought about people on such a diet at all. It is also nice that they try to move beyond the general concept of vegetarian dishes in this country: fried cheese and fried mushrooms. However, a main dish that only includes (otherwise very healthy) low protein vegetables (carrots and pearl barley) is not a good vegetarian dish. On the other hand the vegetarian burger includes a fried egg which is a contradictory choice for some. I can highly recommend the fantastic meat soup with dumplings, it is a serious experience. Pricing is about right, payment is flexible, they accept various cards and coupons. In summary, calling this place a "gourmet" restaurant is a rhetorical overstatement but you will eat good stuff if you try it.More
We just enjoyed a lovely breakfast at brunch time on a Sunday. The place was busy with lively and classy people, the service was professional and warm. Price is not cheap perse but you get very good value for what you pay. Great experience, will...return.More
Obnoxious American music playing loud - which ruined the experience. Nice interior decor, but sad to see no local artwork or authenticity. Food was good and arrived quickly. We had eggs and a side salad for breakfast.
Absolutely HORRIBLE...I ordered an omelet. I never before saw one made with less than one egg...In civilized societies they are made with at least three. My wife ordered a Panini No filling, and as dry as the Sahara. (They brought it pre-made from a food...service.) The coffee was weak...HORRIBLE. AVOID.More
I was here 4 years ago and had a great experience. Unfortunately those old days are gone. Dont misunderstand me, overall everything is OK, just you see n feel that its different. Maybe the food is the only thing that has the same taste..
Just arrived in Sopron and wanted a light snack. Stopped in at this restaurant and had coffee which was the best I’ve had in Hungary so far and some apple and poppyseed strudel which were both delicious. Very friendly staff and a nice atmosphere to...sit and relax. I would recommend this place for a meal.More
This little unpretentious caffee/ bakery with its sidewalk tables at the main corner of the main thoroughfare is a great place to hang out....with free wifi and nobody rushing one along. We had excellent coffee every day of all different kinds, good croissants and omelettes.... The service was quick and friendly and we enjoyed people watching here while there ate many other sidewalk options on this main street of Sopron.More
Went here in the hope to have a good latte, I can say, they serve perfect coffees and hot chocolates. On Saturday mornings it is quite busy, but the service is fast and kind.
Attractive modern café on the Várkerület, just outside Sopron’s historic heart. Spacious and comfortable. The coffee is good as was also the Apfelstrudel. They have an interesting-looking wider menu as well.
