This was not the first I came here. When I went to university in Sopron I visited this place several time and my graduation dinner with the family was here as well. So we can say this was a nostalgic choice to eat at when...I visited the city. The place didn't change much. It was friendly, staff is very nice and the food was fine as usual. I ate fish with sweet potatoes, which was very nice however a little bit unsalted. There were spices on every table, including sea salt, so it wasn't really a problem. I think we came a little bit early for lunch, they could've just opened, because the place was chilly. For me it was a pleasant temperature but my friend felt cold. All in all I'd like to eat here again, this place is just as I remembered.More

So glad I visited after reading the reviews here. It’s correct, there isn’t an English menu. But the waiter spoke enough English to be helpful , and even recommend the goulash meal. The food was delicious and staff were smiley and attentive.

Unfriendly service and indifferent food.Overly Europeanised and not really authentic Hungarian. Slow to arrive as well. Won't be going back despite convenience of location.

Traditional delicious Hungarian food served either in the main historical building or the glass house in the garden area. Good service, decent pricing. Might need a reservation if you favor the glass house. Can be good for romantic lunch/diner or family gathering. Casual/proper fits.

We didn’t get to sit down so this review is not for food...I’ll just tell our experience and you draw your own conclusions. We arrived arround 8pm, on a Friday evening. We searched a while for the restaurant as some of the reviews mention is...a bit on side, not somewhere you’ll find “by accident”. We wanted some traditional food and were quite excited when we arrived. In the courtyard it seemed there was a long table full of people and some additional free spots. Since we tought it was perhaps a private event, we went inside to chech if and where we can sit. And then: we asked bartender if they speak english. She pointed to a lady who seemed to be “the person in charge”. We waited for her to finish the discussion she was having with other guests and then she turns to us and says something in Hungarian. We simply asked: English? And that was it...she angrily turned away and started quite agressively say: “no English, Hungarian”. We asked if anyone else was speaking perhaps English ...same behavior: NO ENGLISH! No One! We never experienced this kind of attitude from a restaurant employee! Unwelcolmed is a too easy word to express the feeling we had. I don’t know how the food is but I don’t reccomend to anyone taking the chance to gamble on employees behavior.More

We went to have lunch at Feher Rozsa on a warm summer day. Almost all tables were occupied but we got our spot in the small garden. Service could be faster, but the food was delicious.

Off the main streets, making it almost a secret spot away from tourists, is the Fehér Rózsa. We had traditional Hungarian food at its best. Really. Hortobágyi palacsinta as an appetizer Breaded chicken liver with mashed potatoes Vadas with bread dumplings (deer meat) Gundel palacsinta...(dessert crêpe) The sauces were all spot on. The liver and deer meat were cooked to perfection. The dessert was made with the freshest walnuts. The service was on point and truly excellent. Timing of the dishes exchange and warm and professional attitude. The prices were humble and added a pleasant surprise to the whole, truly rewarding experience. These were true original flavors of traditional Hungarian Cuisine. We dropped by for lunch and the tables in the charming inner yard were all reserved but for one. We were lucky. There are seats available inside. And they take reservations and also offer delivery service (!) You can also find out the incredible history of the place on their website. I highly recommend it.More

The food is very good here! It was great to see some good, healthy options for vegetarians. I ordered sides of cucumber salad, parsley potatoes, and rice with vegetables. It was nutritious and delicious. They do have full meals that say "V" for vegetarian but...I wasn't really sure what if they are in fact vegetarian, since Hungarian restaurants often include chicken and even liver in such meals. I could not translate all of the ingredients so I played it safe and ordered the sides. The menu is Hungarian and German. I will definitely return while I am here in Sopron. The server was also great - very kind, polite, and professional. The only thing I didn't care for was the cappuccino, so perhaps I would order tea next time.More

Nice place, little bit outside of the city center but it’s worth for a visit. Winer schnitzel really huge and tasty, traditional weal with paprika sauce and gnocchi. Bouillon with liver, noodles and vegetables marvelous!

If you want to try some the typical Hungarian meals, this restaurant is a good choice. Be aware that if yo choose some specialities, they may not fresh. However, the service is professional and they know how to satisfy the guests.

We were recommended by locals to go to White Rose Reastaurant, some minutes walk from the historical center. Food was fine, wine was excellent and the waitress as well and she spoke good English..

We were travelling as a group of friends, visiting several local wineries and sights. The hotel is very central in Sopron and well appointed. Excellent choices for buffet breakfast were included. Staff helpful and friendly. We organised a taxi to Vienna airport with their help.

Reception: we were sent back and forth several times, from one room to another across the courtyard, because the waiters failed to check space availability. Goose soup: the only good part of our lunch. Goose breast: inedible, overcooked, reheated, dried out (please check photo below)....The waitress on the defensive: "but that is what our sauce is for!" A very dubious sauce, mind you... Breaded goose liver: dried out. Mashed potatoes: ok, but just that. Red cabbage: funny taste and consistency. Pear: not done. We were offered dessert, but after a very disappointing meal, we only wanted coffee and camomille tea with lemon to wash it down. Check the sad slice of lemon below... In the end, we were proven right and not charged for the goose breast. Fine, thank you. But that was not the point, really. How can you present a patron such a dish which fails to meet even the lowest requirements?More

The seasoning of our meals has changed considerably as we have traveled west from Budapest. Meals are much healthier now, and this change is considered a delight to the North American palate. Home style food, and lots of it. Don't try and eat everything on...your plate at lunch, unless you are headed for a nap.More
