Excellent food and very good portions

I visited the restaurant with my family on a hot summer day. The location is very convenient as it’s right next to the basilica and the castle (5 min walk). It was a great relief to sit a chilled restaurant after climbing the basilica stairs to the top. It’s a real old traditional style Hungarian restaurant with familiar flavours. The food selection is great. Everyone found something they liked. The portion size was very good as well. We had the duck that was cooked to perfection. The venison stew was tender and very flavourful. The “bugaci aprópecsenye” was excellent and we really liked that it was served in a pan. The “Csanaki részeges csülök“ looked just as good as it tasted, my dad enjoyed it very much. Our server was attentive however there were a number of waiters who seemed to be floating about and not doing much while others were doing most of the work. Overall we were very pleased with out meal and the atmosphere and I can only recommend. Heads up: it might be busy so it’s worth booking a table.

Delicious traditional Hungarian food at very reasonable prices.

I wanted to try something traditionally Hungarian, so I opted for duck liver dumpling soup and pork cheek and potato dumplings for main. It was all supremely tasty and well cooked. The Hungarian people I was with informed me this was authentic Hungarian food and it was really delicious! The pork cheek (head) was extremely tender and went well with the dumplings and veg. Very nice, traditional and authentic! Loved it!!

Next to Basilica

Had lunch here after visiting Esztergom basilica. Excellent food, typical Hungarian. I recommend nr 27 ox stew with potato doughnuts. Fair prices. Cosy terrace. Good service, the check did not mention service fee, which we happily added (10% seems to be customary).

Good atmosphere

Late afternoon lunch; menu selection is quite good. Teras is quite large and enough distance between tables during the quarantine days. Price is not so bad. Family, no alcohol, app. 20.000 Ft.

Sad but true

The worst gulyas that we ever eat! This place is nice with nice location, but this is all. The food is horrible, we took the gulyas and salad with cheese, the salad not contain nothing, it was just simple salad from market, the gulyas was watery. Short story, this place not deserve the place in TripAdvisor rank.

Place is nice, location is good, but we were disappointed, because in menu was Halaszle, we ordered it, but later came waitress back that they don’t have halaszle. Sorry, but don’t offer something what you cannot deliver or inform immediately, stuff should be informed

A top traditional restaurant

Probably the best place or at least in top 3 restaurants in Esztergom. Famous for its port knuckle but all the food is good.

Very disappointed.Went there with the family for lunch but the waiter laughed to our faces that we wanted to eat lunch without reservation.... very professional.

Poor service and the food was dissapointing

Ordered one glass of red vine but was billed for 2. The waiter was arrogant and did not enjoy his job so much😀. But still charged 10% service fee. Ordered medium steak but got really well done.

Pig meat tasted funny

Unfortunately we have visited this restaurant and we received a "csülök" that tasted funny. We asked some mushroom sauce next to it (which was excellent). However it still tasted weird. The potatoes and the Fish soup were very good. Service was ok, just don't order anything pork. (which supposed to be their specialty... But if the meat is an old male boar... Nothing you can do to help taste better.
