Medieval food at it’s best

This place is highly recommended. Great medieval atmosphere with ambience gothic music. Very tasty food with almost overwhelming portions. Special thanks to András for the great waiter service.

Reservation is required for the restaurant. A special location, the decoration is very interesting. The food is big portions and very tasty. I recommend it to everyone.

Excalibur-a medieval restaurant in Érsekkert, Eger

This is a medieval restaurant with wonderful setting really reminescence of the Middle Ages. I had saslik on the Excalibur sword, the service was fine. If you are in Eger try Excalibur in the Érsekkert.

Poor value for the money & location

The service was slow and the stuff neglected their guests . The meal was below the expectation for the price paid. The menu is unreadable and the stuff does not know what they sell. train your stuff! The served beer is awful….all types we tried. And the served wine is not from a good choice and really pricey in this wine & poor region…wines in Italy and France are cheaper but better…. A lot of space to improve. Good luck!

The kids loved it, I had to pay extra for ice. We went to back the second time, but at 8pm the kitchen was closed, so we asked to come back earlier the next day, so did we. Third time the same waiter told us we cannot walk in from the street, at least 4-5 days in advance we have to do our reservations. Rude staff, gives inconsistent information. Serious management problems. If you want to avoid the snobbing of your kids, just go elsewhere.

We arrived at the restaurant open until 10:00 pm at 19:50, the girl at the counter said that the kitchen was probably already closed... I said that to the best of my knowledge they are open until 10:00 p.m., and I was told that the kitchen is only open until 8:00 p.m. 😀 (Are you kidding???) I pointed out that it wasn't even 8:00 p.m., to which the staff, including the server, replied that they could perhaps ask the kitchen if they were willing to prepare our order... At this point we turned the corner, who knows what else would have awaited us if we forced ourselves on the reluctant staff... I recommend the management to spend more time in the restaurant, even on the quieter weekday evenings, and I look forward to your response!

Amazing food cool theme

I have been in medieval restaurants before but this was really outstanding. The service, music and the interior is very well harmonized. We were four of us and got a huge wooden tray of food everything on it what you can imagine. The alcohol free bier is very nice and not recognizable that is alcohol free but tasty. The portion was so huge that all got well fed and brought home a big portion as well. If you go to Eger don't miss it!

Good food and location, service should be imporved

I have spent 5 days in Eger, and in spite of the fact that I review only/mostly hotels, I decided to review this time the restaurant we visited. The reason for this is primarily the unfortunate phenomenon we can experience, that the quality of service has dropped dramatically in the recent past. Not only in Eger, but generally in the whole country. The reason for this we know, the vast majority of the qualified and ambitious workforce has left the country and works abroad. The introduction to my restaurant reviews in Eger will be the same, as it applies to all the places I have visited, and the language of the reviews will be English, so the majority of visiting foreign tourists can also understand. My goal is not the bitter evil-minded revenge, as some may accuse, but the pure goodwill to urge some change before it is too late. First restaurant we visited was Excalibur, the medieval restaurant in the heart of Eger, located in Érsekkert. The location of the restaurant is excellent, the furniture the dinner sets, glasses, cups, plates are quite authentic, although it is quite apparent that the place would require some refurbishment. The food I would say was really excellent, including the soups and also the plate with different kinds of meat and side dishes. My feelings regarding the two waiters are quite mixed. First my wife entered the yard of the restaurant with my kids, and in spite of the fact that one of the waiters was already out, standing there alone, and the place was completely empty, no greetings, no welcome, not a single helping word has left his mouth. As soon as I arrived (couple of minutes later), his attitude changed, and from that moment he was kind and helpful. The other waiter on the other hand remained completely indifferent and unfriendly, it was absolutely visible that he is just simply fed up to be there. So to sum up, the place is well located, the food is really good, but the service would require some improvement.

Awesome restaurant

The decoration is awesome. The waiters are really helpful and pleasant as well. The food is very delicious. It is quite expensive but absolutely worth it.

It's a wannabe medieval restaurant, with candle light and harpsichord music in the background, but without adequate heating near to the wall in the winter time. The food is exactly what you expect from a hungarian "medieval restaurant": simple, large portions rich in fat. But it's absolutely ok, since that's why you're going to a medieval restaurant. However, the wine is quite expensive...

Very good, reasonably priced restaurant

We found this place on Tripadvisor on our way from a bath in the close by town of Demjen to Szilvasvarad. We absolutely loved it. The food was very good and I would consider as reasonably priced considering the location and the theme of the place. The waitresses are friendly and the portion of food was good. There is an excellent gelato place close by where you can have a nice desert😋

Come hungry!

The restaurant is hidden in beautiful park but for sure it's worth to find it. You have to come hungry, cause portions are quite huge. Lot of grilled meats, delicoius pickles and very good wines/beers. The interior is stylized for a medival castel, maybe a little bit too dark for me, but food and service were excellent.
