Throughly enjoyable gastronomical experience

Ikon is located in the heart of the city, with a contemporary design, ideal for romantic dinners or business meetings. The menü is short, but promising, each plate delivering more, than what you’d guess from the description. Complex flavors and textures, with emphasis of the usage of local and seasonal ingredients, the hallmark of a great kitchen. The team is professional, in the service and in the kitchen. If you have the chance to ask the chef about the food, try it, he can and will talk about it with great enthusiasm and a very high level of professionality. Service is impeccable, the staff is able to provide details about the different courses and recommendations if you feel indecisive. They are also good with children (an extra point for having a child menü). Excellent cocktails (don’t be shy to ask for details). Pricing is moderately high, but definitely a great price/value ratio. Booking is recommended, especially for dinner and weekends. Will certainly come back.

Pleasant surprise in Debrecen!

For me the only restaurant in Debrecen that really makes going out for dinner something special and exquisite. Everything is just right here. Friendly reception in a restaurant furnished with great attention to detail. Reservation wishes are considered. Great champagne and wine selection. Here you can eat steak (Omaha is a pleasure!) or the typical Hungarian dishes like mangalica pork or veal cheek. The staff is very attentive and cares for the guests. We will be very happy to come back and look forward to enjoyable culinary delights in a beautiful ambience with nice service.

Very good food, perfect waiters

Any restaurant can have delicious food - this one is no exception, but for me the service makes the place really unforgettable. Sad to say that I have to mention these days, that they gave the menu to my wife first, they called each other on first names, making a very friendly, almost familiar feeling. To me that was worth every penny. Yeah, more like dollars, but really good value for money.

Best fillet in Debrecen

Had an incredible dinner at this restaurant on our recent trip to Debrecen last week. Two of us had steak which was delicious and perfectly cooked. While it is a bit more expensive than other restaurants around, it was definitely worth it and much cheaper than steakhouses in London. The truffle butter with bread as a starter was just sublime.

We have been checking every tasting menu of Ikon out for four years by now. They never disappoint! This most recent tasting menu along with the wines is an absolute blast! Magical flavors, reinvention of some classic Hungarian meals (e.g. ‘lecsó’) and unusual but excellent wine match. I personally love the different textures and the well-balanced flavors of each meal in the menu. The service is exceptionally professional yet friendly. Thank you again for this amazing experience! Ikon is worth a visit (or more) while in Debrecen. It is an attraction on its own!

Top notch menu and lovely waiters

We went there for dinner and loved the atmosphere, the kindness of the waiters and of course the menu. Indeed, we loved it so much that we also went back the next day for lunch. Try the pea soup or the pear soup with chicken liver and your tastebuds will love you forever!

Small portions, yet overpriced

Small portions, not enough even for a little kid. Rough duck breast (duck breast is NOT a steak, please!). Overpriced. The waitors are very polite though. I would have preferred better food, even at the price of the waitors be less professionals

Fantastic food

The food is really good. This restaurant is one of the top things to do in Debrecen. I gave a 4 and not a five because we were not able to get a sweet. We ordered sweet at 21 :34 and were informed that that the kitchen closes at 21:30, but in the previous 10 minutes, we could not catch any waiter attention. But I will definitely go back if in Debrecen.

One of a kind

In belgium, we have many restaurants who try to be very exclusive but not make it work. Ikon could be located in Belgium and it would be one of the better ones. Very nice and friendly service, very good drinks and last but not least, very good food. Surprised by the flavors and the experimental combinations made in all of the courses. I can only recommend this restaurant to all! Nicely done!

A great start in Hungary

This is my first trip for business in Debrecen. I'm a french native, but I come from the US. I would say I am fairly well versed in high-end cuisine from Western Europe, parts of Asia, as well as Southern United States. I consider myself a foodie. Immediately this restaurant impresses. Very clean inside, impeccable service. You feel that your experience will be great, with local products and a great chef. A mix.of traditional and modern. Staying at a nearby hotel, i came to this restaurant twice in 2 days. First night was with a local colleague, also a foodie, who recommended it. Second time was with my Manager, she is from the Netherlands, and knows good food. You were not going to fool anyone of us. On my first dinner, i enjoyed a soup mixing the sweet and savory flavors of carrots, oranges and curry. A must try if you like to start with soup like I do. Then, i followed with a veal cheeks dish, served with a side of what I like to call "Mac and cheese", but is actually so much better than the American dish. The cheeks melt in you mouth. This is refined comfort food. Being my first night, i stopped there, well fed, but not overly stuffed The second night, we indulged a little more. We shared a seared foie gras appetizer with a combination of apricots and apricot ice cream as well as black pudding and probably a wine reduction of some sort, served with mini brioche toasts. The mix of fatty, salty and sweet was once again a winner. Truly unique. If you are an American and only know of foie gras served States side, you don't know jack and you need to try this. My second dinner entrée was a local pork dish recommended by my Hungarian colleague the night before. It's apparently a breed of pork with fur that leads to a rich,moist meat. I confirm that it was very tasty, with excellent potato croquettes, pea puree and some other goodies. Finally the pistachio dessert was a great conclusion to my meal. A great place, must try...

Ramen with."Home made" Noodles.

We just jumped in to have a quick lunch. The ramen with duck meat and alleged home made noodles seemed interesting. The soup was too Soy saucy, but the noodle was overcooked, no texture just melted in your mouth. I think a 10 years old makes better instant soup like this. Also that noodle was not home made, and one from the cheap kind. They knew it, did not even asked if we liked the soup. I think in Debrecen at the Délibab restaurant you get better noodle. Still the place looked awesome, the service was nice and fancy. I am sure if we buy something else I could have written a better review.

Perfect evening with delicious food, wonderful cocktails and good service

We visited Debrecen in connection with the European Handball Championship, and had booked a table at IKON. It was a wonderful culinary experience ranging from appetizers to desserts and tasty cocktails. And we had the most amazing waiter, with a high level of service and a great overview of our orders for all 10 persons. IKON thank you for a wonderful evening, from the 10 Danes who visited you on 14/1 2022

Excellent food and staff

We found Ikon without knowing too much about the food scene in Debrecen and what a treat it was. Greeted by excellent friendly staff and seated in a modern up market environment, which I just wasn’t expecting. The homemade breads and spreads were amazing and that set the tone for the steaks that followed. Excellent and I would recommend!

One of the better dining experiences in countryside Hungary. Modern, but not "wannabe", interesting twists of traditional and non traditional Hungarian food from great ingredients. Listen to the wine recommendation, well figured pairings. Well done Ikon 👍

Amazing food and lovely waiting staff

I’ve travelled extensively around Hungary over the years and this is by far the best meal I have ever had in this country. I opted for the chicken skewers (so tender that the chicken virtually dropped off the skewers), with sweet potato wedges and homemade mustard sauce - delicious. Great service from the friendly waiting staff too.
