The menu is reach and exquisite, with fine dishes, original recipes, the chef build excellent choices for all preferences.
The plating ia amazing and it only adds to the amazing taste the food has.
The service is perfect, fast, the personnel is multi-language, overall I woukd say it'simply the best place I have eaten at in more then 20 years of traveling.

Honestly, the best restaurant in the city, without exaggeration. Portions are big, you definitely won't leave hungry, but if you prefer a smaller amount, you can ask for half-portion. It's a win win situation. They have their special soup recipe, definitely worth trying "Csokonai Soup" but also everything else is just well thought out! Desserts are perfect, and the waiters are professional and friendly. The interior design is new, modern and fresh! I mean the marble floor and velour chairs...stunning! Highly recommend! :)

Easy to find using the technology this restaurant has a cosy atmosphere and nice food.
English menu also available on request, various lemonade options. The fishooks tasty and it is tasty, portions are big, affordable prices, even if you choose a dish from chef's offer or a dish from common menu.
The employees are friendly and willing to help.
A curious fact is that the access to the toilet is with code and you have to ask for it in order to use it.
I do recommend to try this restaurant while you are in Debrecen.

I chose Csokonai after careful consideration as the venue to celebrate my father’s 82. birthday on a brief visit to Debrecen. We spent a wonderful evening in the restaurant, happy with the delicious meal offered in huge portions and the attentive and generous service. My only comment not entirely on the positive side is about the decoration of the place. While the space itself - a cellar with beautiful vaulted ceiling - is very attractive, the obtrusive light fixtures providing way too harsh light, illuminating the whole place furnished in shockingly bright colours, subtract from the experience.

Recently I had the opportunity to visit this restaurant. The menu is not the largest, but offers an excellent spectrum of possible choices. The waiter was very pleasent and welcoming, the food was perfect in size and taste, and there is a great selection of wines! Basicly everything is in order that really matters.

I do definitely recommend this restaurant for any type of visit as food is the best in town qualitywise. You will not remain hungry as they serve large portions of food. Serving is excellent, their waiters are extremely professional. All in all, perfect choice if you are looking for a high quality restaurant experience in a friendly environment.

A truly superb restaurant! To begin, the ambiance is airy and fashionable. You go down an alley, down some stairs, and through an unmarked door and you find yourself in an old cellar that has been retrofitted into a modern, chic restaurant with brightly colored decor and furniture. It is always bustling. The menu gives you large pictures that show you exactly what you are getting. Our food was some of the best we have had in Hungary and astonishingly cheap for the quantity and quality of the food. I had the pork cheek stew and it was to die for. I also had beef tartare for an appetizer and it was prepared in an exciting 5 minute table-side performance and cost only 10 dollars. We will absolutely be back. The service was quick and very polite.

One of the best restaurants I have seen in Hungary. Simply amazing food melts in your mouth. Goose liver is made to a high standard with a beautiful and aesthetic serving. Also a dish of duck-orange was very successful, I almost ate fingers.

We've been living in Debrecen for 3 years. So far, Csokonai is the best restaurant here. We even had our wedding ceremony at this restaurant! Each dish has it's own spirit :) our favourites are Csokonai leves (soup) and steak

I went there with my wife and son out of peak hours, around 15:00 CEST on a Saturday afternoon. We didn't have reservation, but we were received in a very friendly way and we got a table right away.
Me and my 8 year old son we shared a bowl of Csokonai soup, kind of iconic dish of the place. It's a thick ragout soup with beef, vegetables and sour cream. Very filling and characteristic.
As a main, my wife had aubergine tower with goat chese, my son had fried pork and I had fried zander fish with garlic potato. Let's say, everything was over our expectations. The food was tasty and served with style.
We had a very attentive and polite service. You would say it should be obvious, but nowadays it isn't unfortunately, so I would like to highlite the staff's attitude as a very positive surprise.
All in all, it's 5 out of 5 for me. I would recommend the place to visit.

FĹ‘Ă©telnek a felesĂ©gem grillezett padlizsánt evett házisajttal, a fiam sertĂ©sjavát rántva Ă©n pedig fogast sĂĽlt fokhagymás burgonyapĂĽrĂ©vel. Mondhatni várakozáson felĂĽli Ă©lmĂ©ny volt, az Ă©telek Ăzletesek voltak Ă©s stĂlusosan tálalva Ă©rkeztek.
Nagyon figyelmes és kedves kiszolgálásban volt részünk. Sokan azt gondolnák, hogy utóbbi magától értetődő, de sajnos manapság nem az.
EzĂ©rt szeretnĂ©m kiemelni a szemĂ©lyzet hozzáállását mint pozitĂv meglepetĂ©st.

Although the small town was quite deserted, the restaurant was very full, we waited until a table for two people was found for us. This is because it is very good to eat. The food is very tasty, the menu is very diverse, and the prices are really good. The parking is somewhere 100 meters from the restaurant, I found a parking space without any problems. We will definitely return to this restaurant in the future, where the service was also a 10.

We are returning guests of this restaurant, it’s our favourite in Debrecen. The Csokonai Soup is a must have, but all of their dishes are delicious. Not only the food but the service is good with nice people and good atmosphere :) in my opinion this is the best restaurant in Debrecen!

One of the best restaurants in Debrecen. The dishes are excellent both in terms of taste and presentation, and the prices are affordable. The staff are always courteous and welcoming. The location is also perfect. We come here on a regular basis.
