This cafe was on our list of ‘must sees’. When we got there mid afternoon there was a line to get in but it was moving at a good pace. Once inside and seeing the absolute beauty of this iconic building we decided the wait...was going to be worth it. It is large and everywhere you look is stunning. It is a place that inspires one to order a flute of champagne and soak in the ambience. We enjoyed our champagne with some light afternoon starters since this was between meal times. The food was as good as the atmosphere. Service was efficient but we did not feel rushed even though that line waiting to get in never relented. We would definitely come back for a longer evening meal. (July, 2019)More

While parking the car to go to a nervy authentic Hungarian Restaurant in Budapest, I looked into the windows of the New York Cafe and was enthralled by its glamour. I decided to stop there for dessert, after my Hungarian dinner. The sign at the...entrance said “No Photographs, please” but I was sure that as a patron, I would be permitted to take a few shots of the interior. So, my group of 7 and I approached the podium just inside the main entrance. We were welcomed with the warmth and respect typical of Hungary. I cannot recall exactly what we ordered for spdessert, but I am sure that it was a well known Hungarian specialty. Since it has been several years since I was in Budapest, I cannot recall the quality of the desserts, but what has remained with me ever since, is the enthralling atmosphere of the cafe. I st in awe of the detail of the architecture. Columns, lights, filigree, ll blend into.a perfect gem. Whenever I eat in a restaurant that has absolutely gorgeous setting, I feel lucky if the food is good, as well. After all, I was attracted by its appearance, and knew nothing of its reputtion. So, if it exceeded my expectations for ambiance, I do not complain about food qulity or service, unless it is so terrible that it ruins the experience for me. And - I was able to take all the photos my heart deired, from every level md Engle of the cafe. To me, it w Roth very florint that I paid.More

We didn't get to eat there since there was a looong waiting time, and we had to leave to our next destination, but as we stepped in, we suddenly became impressed by the way this place looks like. I really wish we had the chance...to grab lunch there but... maybe next time!More

Cafe New York,in Budapest, is honestly, the most beautiful cafe I have ever seen. When you go inside, you are going to be surprised by all those magnificent walls! I rember that my first fought about it was: ,, Are we really in a cafe...right now? Is this real? 😁''. From the friendly waiters to that delicious food (we only ate a dessert but next time we'll try more things for sure) this cafe it's going to give you a full experience!More

It was worth standing in the long line in the cold winters to get into this wonderful place. It is one of the landmarks of Budapest, where the beauty of the architecture and decoration tells you how long it took for this great edifice to...be completed. I had a great experience and I recommend anyone who visits Budapest to come to this place to enjoy the beauty of this building with a coffee or a cake.More

It's a beautiful place!!!! The food was great and I enjoyed hearing the violinist playing in the background. The staff were professional and welcoming. The prices are quite high although it's a great experience.

A historic city cafe and inside it is completely decorated with gold. Nice experience, high quality of food, but extremely expensive compared to other similar places visited. We had booked online to skip the line for non-bookers.

The queue was long. It was worth it. The Art Deco was breathtaking and the cheesecake was to die for. It melts in your mouth. The chocolate drink was the best and the pasta just creamy. The ambiance was posh. Love it 😍

Had lunch here with some colleagues. The building and the interior are beautiful, and that's about it. Food was distinctly average (and that's being kind), with prices on the higher side. Service was grumpy (perhaps because they always have so many guests and tourists etc?)...Wouldn't come back, and wouldn't recommend for lunch.More

Due to the long line (pre-COVID), we did not eat here but went into the hotel, then up one level, and used the restrooms to the left. From this level we were able to get a quick peek of the gilded fancy cafe (beautiful like...a museum). If I was in the area again, it would be nice to dine here but would depend on their COVID protocols. Restaurant is very large and open, so if you went off hours may be OK.More

Too expensive for what it is, but you can either make a reservation, or wait the short queue upon arrival.
