Having read some reviews we decided to come here for some cake and avoid a main meal. After a wait for a table we were seated in a corner, away from the main picturesque section. Serving staff were polite but clearly overworked and struggling with...so many people. Our cakes/desserts were very nice, as were the beers and cocktails but overpriced for this city. Coffees came at below temperature. The surroundings and ambience are way above the actual experience of dining here unfortunately.More

Not what we expected! We should have read some of the other reviews on here, but we were recommended by our apartment owners. So many reviews mentioned poor service and they are all true. It was not only us that had the same experience as...we could see lots of other upset customers. Does New York cafe actually read these reviews? I don’t think they are interested in the slightest - that was the impression we had. So disappointing- it could be so great. But the culture needs to change.More

We ordered a burger and taglietelle. Burger was dry, fries were cold, like made long time before and barely eatable, same for the pasta. We went to take a few pictures, after 3 minutes we came back to see that our table was cleaned, even...if we still had coffee and water in our glasses.More

We’ve been waited 2 hours for 4 coffees! Worst restaurant experience. Only the view deserves 5 stars. Tip: make a reservation online not to wait outside (it can take a few hours)

First we called to book but once there they didn’t had our booking. At least they accommodate us despite the full house. But we didn’t felt welcomed at all. The only staff that deserve mention is our waiter that was overwhelmed with work in comparison...to many doing just nothing. We got the food before even any of our beverage which felt incorrect. The plates are really small and they are unable to cook a Benedict egg as the yolk was nearly fully cooked. This is a real tourist trap and they know it. Over price and nothing interesting apart the room itself. There is plenty of nice breakfast restaurant or great cafe in town. But yes the room if beautiful and nice live music. But don’t expect anything else.More

We ordered only one Latte and one Double Espresso. We were waiting for this order max 20 min until we have got it. The Double Espresso was already cold, no spoon and no sugar on the side at all. For all this they let you...pay 20 euro almost. They changed the cold espresso for a new one in a nice porcelan but it was also not hot anymore. I think they should do more coffee station where staff can give you fredh and hot coffees. Another thing, most pf the staff don‘t know the table numbers, they bring orders to tje wrong tables.More

Extremely expensive and mediocre service, wouldnt recommend visiting as we paid double by the end for a small glass of orange juice.

Very bad service, overpriced, basic food, long waiting lines and long serving times. It’s not worth it! Just another mass tourism sightseeing place. The building is the only worth visiting thing

The building is very nice and good to see, but the food was overpriced and average and the service was dreadful!

This was my number one reason to visit Budapest. The next morning after arriving I went straight to the cafe for breakfast. Didn’t know you needed reservations and had to wait in line for almost 40 minutes. By the time I was able to get...a free table breakfast was over and was not sitting in the nice part of the cafe. So I ordered the veal schnitzel. Waited what seemed way too long. The service was not attentive at all. I was missing the lemon to go with my veal and than my salad had no dressing so I had to wait longer to eat till they got my order right by now my food was getting cold. Also I asked if I can substitute the mashed potatoes to just French fries. Instead I just got a huge plate of French fries so my bill will be bigger. I decided to come back again the next morning to give them another chance for breakfast. This time I made reservations and specifically asked not to put me in the same location again. I arrive the next morning and they still wanted to put me in the same location and I had to remind them in my reservation I specifically asked not to be in the same area. Finally after another wait I got a table. Ordered breakfast with tea to drink. Tea never came and after long wait finally my omelet made croissant came and still no tea. It took over 10 minutes to get a hold of someone to tell them I did not receive my tea. When my tea finally came and went to pour it in my cup. There was to tea inside but just water. Another almost 10 minutes still I get hold of someone to tell them there is no tea in the kettle. When all said and done my eggs were cold. After that I stopped going back it’s just worth it. The only thing the cafe has going for itself is the decor. The service is the worst and when you want to pay that will take at least another ten minutes to get hold of someone.More

Too expensive for what it is, but you can either make a reservation, or wait the short queue upon arrival.
