This place is over the top in glitz and glamour. Absolutely worth your time. Decorated more like a palace than a restaurant. A bit pricey, but not exorbitant. On this very warm and humid day in July, I had an iced coffee with ice cream and whipped cream, and a piece of cheesecake. Both excellent, for 17 Euros. A unique... More

Very busy on a Sunday afternoon. We called by earlier and booked which avoided the long queue that seems to permanently spill out into the street. The interior of the building is wonderful and the standard of the afternoon tea was comparable with that in high class hotels across Europé. The staff were effective but do not go out of... More

Extremely beautiful cafe&restaurant in Budapest. Not located right inthe city center so you must find it to get here. Good selection of cakes but unfortunately very limited selection fot a nut-allergic such as me :-( Points allthoug from the food list in which all the allegenes were very well listed! Quite expensive place.

This cafe is just over 10 years old , I was told. The neo Classic design is tasteful and extra ordinary. Very popular among tourists. The First time to be in it was great but my next visit was just so so for the coffee and cakes and other dishes will not qualify as extra ordinary. Fun to go with... More

You should try to eat there, is expensive but so worth it!...the menu has local and fancy food, but if you can´t make for the whole meal, that could be 30 to 40 euros per person, you can try coffee and deserts.

Ornate beauty comes to mind. We went here for an afternoon snack, appetizers and desert. Very good but pricey. You go here for the atmosphere. I have never seen anything so ornate. One feels like they are in a movie set and Rockefeller is just out of sight planning some elaborate deal. I am glad I didn't miss it. You... More

I have mixed feelings about this place. On the one hand, my dessert, a pistachio and raspberry tart, was excellent, really top of the line. And I enjoyed the faux historic opulence of the place (it's a 2007 recreation and feels like a Disney version of Versailles.) It was fun, in a Disneyland kind of way. The spirit of the... More

Wow - our tour director recommended this. This has to be the most gorgeous dining space in town, if not the planet. Oh, and the food was fabulous! A must see when in Budapest.

Maybe have a coffee here but nothing else. We went for breakfast and although there were few diners at 0845 - service was slow and when we got our breakfast - the food was cold and stale. The bread was also day old at least! Coffee was nice though and the room is incredible. For two - our coffee, smoothies... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
