Seeing this building already from outside is blast for eyes. This place has indeed beautiful interior with splendid ceilings and stunning decor. It is simply a place worth to see. While some of the items on the menu were reasonably priced, charging 6€ for cappuccino and 4€ for espresso is clearly overpriced not only for Hungary. Cakes were nicely served... More

This was suggested in a magazine and we are so glad we found the article now! The decor was stunning and the staff couldn't do enough for you. The food was amazing. I had the hot chocolate and 'famous' New York chocolate cake while my husband had the New York burger. Both were amazing the service matched. Would definitely go... More

The cafe looks very nice and it is worth a peek inside, but it is overrated. The feeling is that they have so many guests because of the interior, so they dont care much for the food they serve. We had a green apple lemonade which didnt taste very nice. We also had two desserts (cheese cake and walnut mousse),... More

Als part of à grand hotel, a 20 minute walk from the opera, you'll find this grand café with its rare wonderful 1900 interior. Normally quite crowded with tourist who want to eat a costly cake and coffee. A must have steen it once.

We were told we shouldn't miss the New York Cafe and I'm glad we made it on our second visit to Budapest. How special can a high tea be? To be honest the answer is not that special I preferred the Dome in Edinburgh. However the surroundings were stunning, the frescoes on the ceiling just amazing the classical music etc... More

It was gorgeous and worth a visit. You don't need to get dressed up at all. Most of us had cake and coffee though soup and bread also delicious. Pianist playing and then local music. Very pleasant indeed. It was acceptable to take photos and it's ok to wander and have a look so long as considerate of others. Appeared... More

This is a very impressive place, the venue oozes richness. Quartet or pianist playing whilst you eat. The staff were rather stuffy and off hand. Was exceptionally busy and fairly noisy too. Had the tea and cake option which was nice. The prices were expensive compared to other places visited in the city. Having had tea at the London Ritz... More

It's a real pity that the staff of this wonderful cafe is so rude and unprofessional. Since the entrance they are very impolite. We have seen the staff treating and answering to clients in a rude and unacceptable way. Not suggested

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
