This is the place where we had our daily coffee and cake. It’s far from fancy and pretentious, it has the vibe of my 80s childhood which I loved :) The coffee is great, the cakes are delicious (big slices! :)). Extremely clean, lovely outdoor...tables to get some sun vibes, partial view of the Parliament building. Frequented by locals, great place to stretch your legs and loose yourself in a drink and a conversation. This place made me imagine what it would be like to live in Budapest. I’m really happy we discovered it as Budapest wouldn’t be the same without the hours we spent there.More

It's a real authentic place, fun nice old vibe. We just drank a beer, but it's my boy's stamping ground.

We went for a coffee, and without and hellos we were told the seat we had chosen was reserved - there was no reserved card on the table and the waitress just walked off... we did not stay so unable to comment on food quality....The experience made us feel unwelcome.More

When the communists were ousted, thank god this baby was not thrown out with the bathwater. London has lost so many places like this to high rents and lack of succession and is all the poorer for it. Take a step back in time and...have a few beers here. It's a thing of great joy.More

We stumbled upon this bar cafe as it was only a couple of streets from our boat hotel. We ended up spending every evening there! It seems very much unchanged from eastern bloc days in the interior and exterior which was actually really good compared...to some of the weird and wonderful modern tourist bars and restaurants. Staff didn't speak much english but easy enough to order from the drink and snack menu. Packed in the evenings with locals chatting and enjoying tea, coffee, beer, wine and snacks. We loved the toasties (about £1)... Glass of red wine about 80p, pint about £1! We had several of each......More

Loved the views from the terrace to Pest. The inside is kind of a time travel (in the best possible sense) to the '60s. Yummy toasties and coffee.

A simple little cafe but a real treat, really cheap, very traditional and lovely food. We visited twice as it was so good. The beer, wine and fizz were very cheap. Would recommend for tourists

Has a communist bloc 50s-70s feel, especially the interior, but it's not overly self-conscious about it. Coffee not brilliant and ice not served with cold drinks, but their Frankfurters and mustard looked tempting. Paying took a long time and there's no wifi. But one definite...positive - they have newspapers on racks.More

The restaurant & menu are simple. We searched it out specifically to see the decor & enjoy the toast. The mushroom toast was sold out, but the cheese toast was delicious! The elderberry lemonade was also amazing. It was fun to watch the gentlemen playing...a serious game of dominoes. A bit smoky & maybe not the friendliest place, but, overall, I got the experience and that's all that matters!More

Highly recommended place. Mainly locals. Very nice atmosphere. Have a look on the interior design :) You can try the "rigo" beer - half lager and half dark beer

If you want to step back in time and experience a cafe that has more or less remained unaffected by the huge political changes of the past three decades, then, paying Cafe Bambi a visit, is an absolute must! The setting is very basic; but...this is exactly why you would want to visit and at least get a coffee. When the weather allows, you can sit outside and enjoy the view of the parliament in the distance.More

Comfortable casual ambience w old socialist feel. We had ham n cheese, mushroom cheese toasts which were crispy outside while bread was soft. Frothy n fragrant beverages completed the homemade-like breakfast. . Very affordable too.

This place is called now retro through the internet, but let we make it clear this is an old place. Socialist-realism more than retro, and it was used to be like this 10 years before also so its simple doesn't changed. The waitresses are amazing,...they working so hard, they running around all night long, they remember all the orders and serving so fast. Budget prices.More

I occasionally drop by for a coffee and simply love being here. The waitresses are very nice, and even though I'm not a big fan of old Socialist design, it's a pleasant place to be at. Totally recommended.
