Reasonably good food with acceptable price. Servicing could be faster. When you are near Csillaghegy, cannot have cheaper lunch.

River Café is a very simple restaurant off the beaten track, frequented nearly exclusively by locals. It’s a small place with only a few tables, but in the summer they open a garden terrace also. The environment is simple, but much better than that of...many similar places in the neighbourhood. We had lunch on a weekday, there were a few guests in the restaurant, but the phone didn’t stop ringing – they also do a very busy take-away service. It might have been due to this, but we had to wait rather long for the lunch – and we ordered only soup. When it came, it was excellent: a rich, Hungarian fisherman’s soup “with everything”: a slice of carp and chitterlings (for HUF 1200). My wife had the meat soup with tarragon, also very good. They also offer a vast selection of pizza. Since then we have tried the take-away several times, with varying success. The portions are huge, the quality of the food is reasonable. The Savoy cabbages with meat balls was good, but not spicy enough, the mushroom soup was very good, the chicken paprikás also quite good. If you want to have an inexpensive, reasonable meal, River Café is a good choice.More
