It was a very unusual setting visually and crowed with young stag/hen parties. Drinks and food was geared up for this sort of crowd.

After hearing good reviews about the ruin pubs in Budapest we decided to give this one a go as it was near where we had lunch. The decoration inside is intriguing, lots of quirky pieces with a car as a table!! The atmosphere was very chilled and despite it being around 3pm when we visited, it was a good level... More

The vibe and the atmosphere are worth the visit. The decorating is really interesting. There's a ton of different drinks to have so everyone will be pleased. Some fine craft beers on the menu.

Szimpla Kert was simply amazing. Reached there after 10pm and the place was jam packed. Please do not expect much to eat there but you can go with a big appetite for drinks, music and people. You will surely come back satisfied.

This is apparently one of the oldest ruin bars in Budapest. We went with 2 Hungarian friends and on entering I was amazed at the originality and uniqueness of this place. It's built in what was the courtyard of an old building and is decked with all sorts of things from old street lamps, to old road signs to old... More

Everyone must see it. Great atmosphere, cheap drinks (for a pub/club) and a great culture around. It does get very busy so maybe avoid the weekends but it's a great place. The music could be a bit better

This place is the real deal. Sadly, a bit pricey for Budapest, but very cool nonetheless. Great vibe, great music, ambience unparalleled

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
