We walked passed this several times not realising that it was a ruin bar. We visited on our last night and found it amazing! Lots of rooms, out door areas and various floors. All are decorated with odds and ends that would otherwise be thrown away with a very boho and trendy feel. There is a screen with weird arty... More

We visited with my son and found it very unusual but very interesting. Lots of different nooks and crannies. Son loved it, but I think it is more a place that younger people would enjoy. Worth a visit though.

Just a must have: if you're in Budapest for holidays or whatever you must go to Szimpla at least once! Suggestive and extraordinary by night, cute and cheerful by day (especially on Sunday morning with the little market). Highly highly recommended!

We first visited here on Sunday morning where they have a farmer's market that was great. It was a perfect time to explore the upstairs and many rooms . A great place to visit, I wish we had visited later in the day to have a drink. I can't imagine what it's like on a weekend evening. The farmers market... More

Went for drink mid afternoon after sightseeing - wonderful deranged decor and large spaces to explore. Must be very different on a busy evening. Good beer and so pleased we went. Look forward to next visit

Huge, multi-room club. Great energy, open mic music and lots of young people. MaiTai was undrinkable so stick with beer.

We were totally doing the tourist thing and went by for some drinks at like 3:00 in the afternoon, but it was well worth it. I am in love with all the ridiculous decor! We even saw some of the staff coming back with some goodies they found out on the streets on trash day. (In Budapest certain days of... More

I visited during the day so that's why I gave 3. (according to some friends the atmosphere is fantastic). Even so it is a mass it is cool. I've been in many places like that. but smell was horrible specially 2nd floor - where the restrooms are located. Anyway, I recommend to visit, hanging with friends. very nice price.

Many bars and lots of fantastic things hanging around from old cassettes to tv's and other memorabilia. Well worth a visit but make sure you wander around. My wife liked the old movies...

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
