For tourists, but cute

The place is very nice, behind the Parliament. It is definitely a place for tourists, but also frequented by Hungarians. The service was friendly, punctual, the staff is very nice. We tasted a gulash-like soup and it was very good, then because of the heat we had salad choices and a carpaccio dish (the delicious meat). The very good beer (industrial, but local, Borsodi). Maybe the bill a little expensive

Lovely food and drink, engaging and peaceful time.

Very enjoyable. Exquisite platter in presentation and taste -- cheese, toasted baguette bread, sausage slivers and very fresh salad with lovely dressing. Riesling and pinot grigio (Matra). Szamorodni to finish. Peaceful, lovely view of of the Parliament buildings, sunset over the Buda hills, with pedestrians, bicyclists and occasional streetcars adding to the spice. Second time there, even better than the first. Thanks Matt.

Great Breakfast good value

Came for breakfast, had a great meal, and very good value considering the location. Waitress was very helpful and friendly, got the impression the kitchen can be inflexible but they were OK to substitute one part of the meal for something else (she thought they may not be!) Would definitely come back.

Would expect better quality food considering the price, I do understand the location is a big factor. The staff was rather weak for one exception, didn't pay attention-chatted with each other, forgot some of the order, and just gave the vibe not being professional. The soup was tasteless, the salmon sausage I'm not sure if saw many salmon. All in all, overpriced for the service and quality we have recieved.

They try to accommodate food allergies but don’t understand

This was a cute place right outside the parliament so we stopped for breakfast after our tour. Waiter spoke excellent English, took our orders in English and answered questions about what we could eat with multiple food allergies. However, when my daughters meal came there were big slices of bread on the plate. We pointed out to the waiter that we had said we had a food allergies to gluten and his response was “but it’s included!”. Seriously???? Food ended up being great but they clearly miss the point that a diner with a food allergy does not want that item on their plate in any way shape or form!!!

Be Carefull if you are stranger, the price can increase

I was here several time, this time maybe because they hear us speak English they choose on the spot to make pay for 1 tiny ball of ice cream 3 euros, 1050 huf, without any invoice, when I ask explain answer was 'that is', a cheating be aware from them Moreover if you speak English, price exposed is 100ft for 10g, avarage weight of ice cream is 50 gr, probably that was 40 because so tiny... so bill should be a lot less. Maybe cause of high value of € they change price on the spot? Depend from the language of the client

Love this Place

I have been to this cafe many times during my stay in Budapest, in both 2016 and 2024. The place is right next to Parliament building. You can definitely have coffee with great view. The food is delicious, especially breakfast, croissant. The place is kid-friendly as well. The waiter offered a bucket of colour pens for my daughter to draw and colour. And the price is very reasonable comparing with the quality of food and location of the cafe.

Full marks for vegetarian options

And full marks for allowing us to have just a coffee and a warming brandy, at the bar, while all other clients were eating lunch! Lovely atmosphere, delightful décor and extremely pleasant staff. We were not in the market for a full lunch, but we noticed a daily menu and were really impressed to find a vegetarian option offered on every day of the week. The kitchen was not only visible from the bar, but the activity therein shown on a screen in the restaurant....another impressive touch. If there had been time during the rest of our stay, we would certainly have returned to eat there.

Good food - had the cheese platter - and good drinks. Recommend for brunch. Nice athmosphere and location too. Service was frienldy but very slow, they seemed to forget our snacks also, as the table next to us that arrived later got all their orders faster :) Also negative that they add 13% service fee to the bill, so keep that in mind.

Really good service

The waiter couldn't have been nicer to us, he even taught us some basic Hungarian while he served us. We sat out in the front of the bistro which has really good views of the parliament building. The frozen cocktails are delicious and really cheap too

We saw this restaurant after walking near the parliament building, and since we were quite hungry we just went in. We ordered beetroot soup, goulash, paprika chicken with dumpling and duck leg. No complaints on the taste and service was quite good.

Calm friendly atmosphere

A very calm and friendly atmosphere. Staff are very friendly and polite. Great for solo travellers looking for a light lunch or 3 course meal. I enjoyed the 2 course daily menu alongside a dessert and alcoholic beverage. Menu very very reasonably priced and food was extremely delicious. Would recommend to a friend.

delicious cafe near the Parliament building

After touring the parliament building my husband and I were looking for a place for a late breakfast. We found Elysée Bistro & Kávéház. The menu was extensive and everything sounded good. We finally decided but our server was a little absent and service overall was pretty average. The place wasn't very crowded, and we sat in the outdoor patio so could people watch some and look out on the square, it was a great location. Our meal was very good. I had an omelet with mushrooms and it came with a fresh salad. My husband got a dish with sausage and veggies on bread with an egg. We both were very satisfied. We'd return.

My husband and I were there for lunch today. Went there because of Trip Advisor ratings. Food was very good, but service was subpar. We ordered our meal and drinks. The drinks came and my husband finished his and ordered another. Our food came and still no 2nd drink. We finished our food and my husband told them he had never received his drink order. She said she would get it, but because we were finished with the meal, he told her just to cancel the drink. When we got our check, we didn't know why it was so much, but paid it and left. Shame on us. We should have challenged it. They charged us the dinner price instead of the lunch price! I wanted to go back to get it straight, but he told me to let it go. So, if you go, pay attention to your bill !

A cozy place with amazing food

Such a cozy place right at the heart of the city. The food is really amazing. We had the onion soup ehich was to die for, and the catfish dish. Both definitely worth trying. Also tried the marinated cheese platter which is a perfect option to have as a snack with your beer. Staff was lovely, they took great care of us. A wonderful experience overall. I totally recommend it.
