We were very happy that this restaurant could accommodate for our very large group (18 people...) on such short notice as we hadn’t realised how difficult it might be to find a nice Hungarian restaurant with availability that evening! To top it off, the food was delicious, the service was great, and there was live music that evening!
Most of us enjoyed the ‘menu’ which had an entree, a main and a dessert (choice between 2 dishes each time) for only 20€. And no one was disappointed. We were a large group so I can’t say we were quiet...but they didn’t tell us off and we put quite the ambience at the restaurant :) Definitely can recommend it not only for the service and location, in the heart of the nightlife entertainment district, but also for the delicious local food!

It was a lovely experience. I went for a early dinner and the place was not very busy. The waiters were all very nice and attentive (which I have to agree with other reviews...it’s quite rare in Budapest).
Food was very nice (i had the pumpkin soup and the beef goulash) with generous portions.
The perfect touch was the piano played live while eating.
Made the perfect atmosphere to relax after a day walking in the cold!

I’m so glad we came across the restaurant when searching online. We were looking for somewhere with a mix of Hungarian and international options, looking online at the menu this seemed promising.
The decor and atmosphere was so warm and inviting, we really felt welcome. The live pianist was a lovely addition.
From the menu we opted for the Chicken Paprikash and Roasted Norwegian Salmon Fillet. Both were excellent.
There was a fresh dessert cabinet, my husband made a beeline for the Tiramisu and from the menu I ordered the Somlói Galuska. They were to die for.
The restaurant’s menu mentions that they use their grandmothers’ recipes - you can tell they craft their dishes with care.
We left with our hearts and stomachs very full!

We tried to eat here on our first evening in Budapest but despite showing they are open until 11pm they decided to close at 9.30pm.
Despite this we booked to stay on our final evening, after staying a week.
The reception was very unfriendly and we were shown to a table in the back room, on our own. We asked to move and we’re reluctantly accommodated, now at least able to hear the brilliant piano playing.
The gentleman who served us was disinterested and made us feel unwelcome. The food was OK but very, very basic and served way too quickly. Not even being offered a dessert we left quickly trying to put this terrible experience behind us and luckily found a lovely bar with welcoming staff, as had been our general experience in this fine city.
The one is for the pianist

Dear Mr. Tony Bates!
We are very sorry that the service did not meet your expectations without offering dessert! In any case, thank you for letting us know, we will investigate what happened.
What I can already explain:
- On your first night, Monday, you couldn't be accommodated, because fortunately there were so many people that we couldn't take on any more with proper service and food prep for that evening after 9:30 p.m.
- We don't have a back room, but as of your request, of course, we moved you closer to the piano as soon as possible. We do not rush the service, but in this fast-paced world we try to keep up with the rapidly increasing demands... which we are happy to adjust to your preferred dining rhythm.
- Our food is not "very basic" but homemade Hungarian cuisine, just the way our grandmothers used to cook it, all made with love, by hand and exclusively from natural ingredients without the use of artificial colors, flavor enhancers, MSG, etc.
Best regards, Imre

The food was amazing, the Gulash is to die for. We got different plates to share and they were very accommodating (they got us one plate for each of us even changing those in between dishes). Great ambience! With live piano music and amazing staff. Definitely recommend.

My girlfriend and I went to this restaurant just yesterday, also driven by the positive reviews. I must say we were not at all disappointed. The first impression of the location was that we were completely in the 1930s/40s with a live pianist and furnishings that I liked. fabulous notice, very kind and helpful waiters who also understand Italian, we ordered a mix of local cheeses as a starter, very delicate, and as a main course we took a goulash and wiener schnitzel (to drink two cokes and a fanta) , spectacular to say the least, the food is good, the prices are certainly higher than neighboring competitors, but it is completely worth it. Highly recommended

It's a restaurant located in the heart of Budapest, a lovely place where enjoy the dinner with friends, well kept in every details.
The owners and their workers are very kind and make the guest feel welcome.
Il I ordered a traditional gulasch meat, a very delicious plate, and I finish drinking the palinka, a flavored liquor.
Excelent musicians with piano and violin.

We actually went twice as the food was great on the first day (Thursday) and there was a Klezmer concert in the restaurant on Friday. We had a great time both evenings - and great staff that handled a food allergy (wheat) very well. Will definitely come back!

Great food a lovely mix of Jewish and Hungarian food . Staff very friendly and attentive. This restaurant had a great atmosphere and was very very busy with locals, which is always a good sign. My Goulash was amazing and my wife's shnitzel was so fresh and tasty. Would highly recommend.

This was recommended by a friend who had been a few years ago. We booked a table for 9pm. The menu was limited, and the waiter who took the order clearly was not listening properly because two of the main courses that came out were wrong. I will say my duck was actually very nice though, but I had finished before their correct dishes came out.
When we came to order dessert at about 9:45pm, he told us the kitchen was shut and we were too late - even though the restaurant closed at 11pm.
We did see others receiving dessert after this.
If they can take booking at 9pm but cannot serve a 3 course meal then they should make the cut off time 8pm !
Having said all this the pianist was good and the general ambience was OK.

By chance we came across this typical little restaurant jewel, we were lucky enough to be seated at a small table when we had not booked and the restaurant was already full.
We enjoyed a delicious goulash and an apple strudel, on a piano background played, by a musician happy to be there, obviously a plus for the atmosphere.
The staff is friendly while being busy given the growing occupancy of the place.
I highly recommend!

Very fun spot. The food is good, traditional Hungarian with a few options that reflect the location in the Jewish center of Pest (but this is not a Kosher restaurant). But the real attraction was the piano player who was there both nights. The first time he played old broadway and jazz standards, on our second visit he played some 60's pop (John Denver and Carpenters). Sadly, he will be leaving to play on a Viking Cruise ship, but I suspect they will have other live entertainment and there was no cover charge. During our 10 day trip, this was the best overall restaurant experience (and we did not have any real losers).

We happened upon the Spinoza restaurant on the first evening of our arrival, recommended by a friend. The atmosphere is very welcoming and classic, refined. We were surprised by the natural kindness of the waitress, always available and smiling, and by the quality of the food, so much so that we decided to return for the last evening, in which our impressions were confirmed. On both evenings, dinner was accompanied by a very good piano musician, and on the second evening he was also accompanied by a violin. It is a place that I absolutely recommend for every possible aspect, especially on a trip alone or as a couple

We opted for a menu and a single dish. We include the wine pack to discover some Hungarian wine.
The dishes on the menu were correct, although the potato that accompanied the duck was dry and overheated. We have eaten better side dishes in Budapest in places of similar category.
The dish we ordered was a Hebrew meat dish with vegetables. It was delicious, although we complained since there was only a couple of tiny pieces of meat in the portion. After expressing our doubt, they took away our plate and served a new dish with a perfect proportion of meat and vegetables. The dish was very delicious.

Kedves "797jamuef"

Me and wife stopped here in April, nice setting, we ate outside. Had some guys stop buy asking for money and they were rude, not the Restaurants fault. Staff was very good. Wife had the Salmon which was wonderful. i wanted to try the Goose Breast which i have never had, it was tough and chewy and did not like the taste. I was not able to finish it but ate the Salmon instead. The Flódni with plum sauce (traditional 3 layered Jewish cake ) was AMAZING..
