We came for the concert and figured we would have dinner, since other people said it was good. We thought the concert was included with the expensive dinner, but apparently not so. We asked to not eat as many dishes, but we paid the price...they quoted for the dinner & concert. They expected us to pay an extra 9,800 for the concert. This was after already paying 67 Euros for an overcooked goose leg and an overcooked salmon dish, and a glass of Champagne. They claim on the menu if you have a meal with a glass of champage for 21 € you get the concert included. So I do not recommend this to anyone. It’s expensive and not very good. Don’t be taken in !! On top of it they claimed they would complain about me online, as if I didn’t pay for my overpriced meal!! They are bullies.More

This is a lovely traditional Hungarian restaurant complete with antique furnishings and a piano player. Nice menu, I had the goulash which was excellent. Restaurant was quiet when we were seated (8pm) but got very busy thereafter. Service was excellent and would highly recommend it...if your looking for an authentic Hungarian meal.More

Came here for dinner, and it sure was food. Had the goose breast, but it came to the table barely warm. I pointed it out to the waitress, and when the plate came back to the table, it was clear they’d just microwaved it, microgreens...garnish and all. The goose was already quite dry to start with, and microwaving it didn’t make it any less dry. The latkes my wife had were nice, even if I’m pretty sure there was salmon in one of them, so not as vegetarian as advertised. All in all the most expensive and worst dinner we had in Budapest.More

Very fun spot. The food is good, traditional Hungarian with a few options that reflect the location in the Jewish center of Pest (but this is not a Kosher restaurant). But the real attraction was the piano player who was there both nights. The first...time he played old broadway and jazz standards, on our second visit he played some 60's pop (John Denver and Carpenters). Sadly, he will be leaving to play on a Viking Cruise ship, but I suspect they will have other live entertainment and there was no cover charge. During our 10 day trip, this was the best overall restaurant experience (and we did not have any real losers).More

We tried to eat here on our first evening in Budapest but despite showing they are open until 11pm they decided to close at 9.30pm. Despite this we booked to stay on our final evening, after staying a week. The reception was very unfriendly and...we were shown to a table in the back room, on our own. We asked to move and we’re reluctantly accommodated, now at least able to hear the brilliant piano playing. The gentleman who served us was disinterested and made us feel unwelcome. The food was OK but very, very basic and served way too quickly. Not even being offered a dessert we left quickly trying to put this terrible experience behind us and luckily found a lovely bar with welcoming staff, as had been our general experience in this fine city. The one is for the pianistMore

I had wandered around the area looking for a proper Hungarian restaurant and had almost given up hope ...when I found the Spinoza. I was welcomed by the friendly staff and given a lovely table. I chose the roast goose leg with red cabbage and...potatoes - it was perfect - juicy meat with crisp and tasty outside. A glass of Pinot Tokay was a great match. I thought I would eat and go but then the pianist started and was so good i had to have an excuse to stay and listen - so I ordered the excellent cake with poppy seed and apple and plum sauce. I was eating alone - next time i will bring along more people. I am also fascinated by the theatre - I will have to find out more about it - and the Klezma band fridays! Thank you all so much.More
