The bar itself has a nice atmosphere (especially recommended in the evening) and the staff is nice as well. Although their prices are way too high, worth a visit.

Consistently (very) good bistro close to the Great Synagogue. Casual. Fun. Nice menu and very well prepared. (Breakfast bargain of 5 euros can't be beat.)

We have just returned from a visit to Budapest and we had an evening meal on a Wednesday night here. We did not book as it was a Wednesday night in march but this was a mistake as they had a very large party due that night! Luckily as we wanted an early meal the restaurant was very accommodating and... More

I was really looking forward to having dinner here after it was recommended in my travel guide, however I didn't have a very enjoyable or welcoming experience. I asked for a table for one and was told that there were no tables available even though there were clearly tables available. I felt like I was being judged/pitied for dining on... More

Dear Guest, I think you had a wrong impression of the whole story. My waiters are unfortunately not concerned of the financial benefit of the place. I wish they were:) They are really trying their best, to give good time an a good experience to our guests, and I must say in most cases they succeed. From what you wrote,... More

It is a very nice place with live music - which is a piano with old-timer songs. The food is excellent, and the service is very good too.

I visited the place many times for dinner and breakfast. Their dinner dishes are unique and flawless, the staff is friendly and willing to help you in all possible ways and the general atmosphere is positive and cozy. Their breakfast menu is fine as well, however i enjoyed their dinner meal well. Recommended if you are looking for traditional Jewish... More

We came across this little restaurant on our first day in Budapest. We received a warm welcome from the friendly waiter and an explanation of the menu. All 4 of our party had the Goulash and dumplings which was a hearty and tasty meal that lay a little heavy for the rest of the day. The restaurant is located in... More

Having walked the General area around Deak Ferenc Tor for well over an hour looking for somewhere interesting, I finally found this gem. With old world decor in a compact setting and a piano with maestro just inside the door, this looked the business for me. With only 2 nights in town on my whistlestop tour of mid Europe, I... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
