We had dinner in pleasant surroundings with a nice view to the cathedral. We were lucky to have been offered a vacant table without booking but the restaurant was busy all the time during our stay. Welcoming and kind personnel with a good sense of humour. We were served perfectly prepared delicious steak and mouth-watering cheese cake. Pleasant bar music in the background. Good value for your money.

This was our last night In Budapest and dining here was the crowning evening of the trip.
Our waiter Anthony was attentive the food was excellent and the prices were extremely competitive.
I'd recommend Bestia to anyone for any occasion.
If I come back to Budapest I will definitely come back

My partner and I really enjoyed the food and local vino - really good for vegetarians too, baba ganoush so tasty! Staff were really friendly and helpful too and atmosphere was buzzing. However, our waitress said they don't give them any of the 13.5% service charge and said it all goes to the company which is pretty disgraceful. We ended up giving her an extra €8 into her hand on top of the €10 service charge on our card. All the staff should be receiving some of that service charge and not the main top boss!

We stumbled upon this restaurant after walking past St. Stephans Basilica. We did not have a reservation, but we were okay with waiting for a table. We came on a Tuesday night and waited for our table for 1.5 hours. We sat at the bar while we waited for our table, and we were very impressed with their cocktails (amazing selection of gin & tonics) & beer selection. Once our table was ready, close to 9:30 pm, no one came by our table for the first 30 minutes to take our order or get us drinks. Finally, after asking for someone to help us, our waiter took our order. Despite the slow service, the food was delicious and had a modern twsist on Hungarian classic. If you plan on coming to this restaurant, definitely make reservations to avoid the long wait times.

On entering the Bestia restaurant we were greeted to a DJ playing really loud music, other guests were shouting to speak to each other, there was no ambiance whatsoever. We were seated in the conservatory section which has a nice view of the Basilica, but there were so many people crammed in there it was just uncomfortable. It took the staff over 15 minutes to bring us a wine list, when she returned with the wine list she asked what food we would like, we gave her our order of wine and food, it took another 15 to 20 minutes to come back with the wine accompanied by our starters, these were mediocre at best. Once we finished it then took nearly an hour to bring our main course and sides, when it eventually arrived part of the order was missing. The waitress said she would get us another one, when we tried the side that had arrived it was stone cold. I informed the waitress of yet another error, her whole demeanour changed from smiles to miserable, as I work in the hospitality industry I know this is unacceptable. I then continued to eat my main which was a half chicken I cut into it and it was uncooked. So I called the waitress again and told her, she asked would I like another one, I told her the amount of time it took to get the first one and they got the order wrong it was cold and the chicken was uncooked, then no I definitely would not like another one as my wife was still eating there was still no sign of the sides. This made for a very uncomfortable ambiance, as this was an anniversary celebration for my wife and I, to say we where disappointed doesn't come close.
Having eaten in restaurants all around the world the Bestia restaurant was the worst dining experience my wife and I have ever experienced. I would definitely not recommend Bastia to anyone visiting Budapest, try one of the many other quality eating establishments in the wonderful city of Budapest please don't disappoint yourself by eating at Bestia

If you are not HUNGARIAN YOU SHOULD ABOID this restaurant. We are a 4 persons family and we looked for a place to eat. Unfortunatelly, we found this restaurant. We waited for 15-20min for the waiter to take our order (he was talking to other clients). Finally he came and his attitude was very very nationalist and bad. We asked for 2 glasses of water and he forced our hand and brought us 4 glasses of water. We ordered Cola, we waited for more than 10 minutes for it. We asked for an ashtray, we waited for 10 minutes for it and when he finally came, he throw it on the table.
The food was very very good and the hostess was very kind.
Because of the waiter's behaviour, it was a very awfull experience and we will definetly not come back here.

My boyfriend & I wanted to get some lunch on our last day. The restaurant looked very promising. I ordered a caesar salad and my boyfriend a macaroni pasta with truffles.
The caesar salad was FULLY drenched with sauce, you couldn’t even taste the salad. The chicken tasted like rubber, it was not fresh, you can describe it as chicken from a can. Very sad…
My boyfriend’s macaroni tasted okay but you couldn’t taste the truffle at all, poor seasoning.
The staff was friendly though and we had good service. Very unfortunate experience!

Family of four visited Bestia. I have been here before, included given recommendations. For the long story, this will not continue and I have had my last visit.
Our youngest is not the best dealing with “foreign” food / other than what’s known. After not finding anything in the Bestia menu, we asked the waiter politely if we could have an empty plate and discreetly get food from somewhere else. The waiter said ok, provided the disc and service up till then was splendid.
Then after we filled the plate with food from a brown, unmarked bag (nuggets & fries) the waiter’s manager came. He literally gave us the bucket in front of all the other guests that this was not acceptable and how wrong doing it was of the waiter to allow. It should have been stopped and more on… I think the waiter, who just had done a great job up till then actually showed why I have returned to Bestia. Anyhow, after he left, basically telling us we were not welcome, the 12 yr old suggested he could go outside and find somewhere else to eat by himself.
This of course did not happen.
I went to talk with the same manager and he could not see any problems with his approach. His opinion was that they had served plenty of kids and they all could eat Beatia’s food. He never understood that he just thrown a 12 year old kid “under the bus” in front of all the guests. This is remarkable poor service, same on Bestia.
The rest of the story is service stopped, the waiter dropped our table and wine had to be asked for, again. We got the expansive Sauska wine ~ 7 minutes after hot food was served.
Note: I told the manager what the 12yrs old said. Though he never bothered to come and give a professional apology to the kid. One can disagree about many things and misunderstandings will happen, but it will always be what you do afterwards that show final character - Congrats!
Impressively poor service, we will never meet again!

We had dinner at this restaurants and this was a very nice experience.
We arrived a bit too early in this packed restaurant but this was no issue for the very friendly hostess at the entrance area. We were seated , a bowl of water was immediately brought for our dog, and we started browsing the menu with plenty nice food options.
We both decided to start with the goose liver brûlée, which came with toast and this was very good. For mains my wife chose the 'Skinny' Angus burger, which came with a plate full of veggies. I had an excellent Fillet Mignon, cooked to perfection. This was combined with the triple baked potatoes, and some glasses of lovely beers, which we found in an exciting beer menu.
Excellent, trendy place with a good vibe on a beautiful location

This is located right next to st Stephen cathedral, in a very nice and central square. The place seemed very in fashion, it was very crowded and apparently having a reservation is wise. We got a table thanks to some very kind waitress who went beyond her way to help a family with hungry kids. Food was good, nice steaks.

As a steak restaurant wasn’t sure about vegetarian options and pleased they had an alternative to veggie burgers!
Meal was great, drinks small and cost above average. Mac and cheese delicious, grilled veg a bit greasy but overall great meal! 13.5% service charge... ouch!!

Bestia is a vibrant and lively restaurant perfectly located on Szent István Tér, offering beautiful views of St. Stephen's Basilica—a prime spot for dining in Budapest. The menu features a variety of American and international dishes, including BBQ ribs, goulash, and fillet steaks, all of which are flavorful and well-prepared. They also have a great selection of craft beers and wines to complement your meal.
Prices are moderate, with main courses ranging from 15 to 25 EUR, making it a reasonably priced option given the central location and quality of food. The venue itself is spacious with a lively ambiance, often accompanied by live music that adds to the overall experience.
That said, the service was notably slow during my visit, which was a bit disappointing, especially during peak hours. If you're not in a rush and can enjoy the atmosphere, it's still a solid choice for a meal. Overall, Bestia is a great spot for tasty food, a vibrant atmosphere, and a stunning location—but patience with the service is recommended!

The food was delicious, the service was very nice. The restaurant is cosy and cool, I can only recommend it, especially the Bestia Angus burger and the Uruguayan steak. We celebrated a birthday, the staff was very attentive, they brought us a dessert with firework.
I highly recommend this place! :))

We stumbled in to BESTIA Budapest the day we landed in Bp. We were jet-lagged and without a reservation but they welcomed us anyway.
What a delight! Super cool, funky interior, great menu design, and friendly, helpful staff. Our food was excellent and, despite the location, quite reasonably priced. They aren't out to stick it to the tourists - they are cranking out fantastic food that makes patrons want to return and bring their friends.
It always takes a day or two for my lousy attempt at Hungarian to kick in, and that didn't seem to bother them. Any comment that one must be Hungarian to dine here is silly.
Once Covid is lifted, we'll be back in Budapest and I've already got BESTIA Budapest on my list. We can't wait to go back!

Celebrated my birthday with friends here whilst in Budapest. Located at the square of the Basilica its a really nice reasturant that serves mostly fingerfood to an impressive drinksmenu. Staff was superfriendly making sure everything was as excpected the whole way. Would definitly recommend!
