Traditional restaurant with mid-range prices.
You need a reservation in general, we went on a Saturday night and there was no table available...but they made a reservation for us for the next day, something that restaurants don't do, because they only accept online reservations.
The gentleman who served us was quite kind and smiling, which is not easy to find abroad.
We got 2 individual soups, the goulash
and the sausage (quite spicy but very nice soup with sausage and a whole piece of mozzarella), the wooden platter for two people, something like our variety with beef, pork and stuffed chicken schnitzel, a very good choice if you like hot things, as it comes with from fries, something like noodles and cheese, pickles and jalapeño peppers which were also in the filling of the schnitzel, a local beer and bread and we gave a total of around 17500 HF including the 10% tip.
Several honest restaurants to eat

Wonderful food and kind service. We had the shared meat wooden platter, perfectly cooked tenderloin, perfectly cooked duck, glorious sausage and pork that melted into mouth, two kinds of fried onions and more rice and potatoes than we could eat. Wine was good and generous. This was our last meal in Hungary after a two week stay so despite being full we ordered dessert , the waiter immediately suggested one dessert and two spoons! This is a treasure of a place and we hope to return.

I was surprised to read so many negative reviews, we had a good experience here. We found the restaurant from a list on offbeatBudapest and made a reservation on the same day for dinner and were promptly seated. We ordered a variety of dishes, including chicken paprikash with dumplings, goulash, cucumber salad, and my favorite the pancake in "hortobagy" style. For 3 people, (including a bottle of wine and several beers) the total of approx. $85 USD seemed fairly reasonable to us. We enjoyed all of the food, and the atmosphere was cosy with cute red-and-white checkered tablecloths.

It's not the first time I've been to Tüköri, the last time was 3 years ago. The food I ordered was served quickly and politely. The deep-fried mushroom heads were fresh and tasted good.
So nothing has changed in this area, but unfortunately neither has it changed in anything else.
The restaurant gives a dirty, neglected impression. The furniture is worn, there is a mess around the shunt, at the entrance to the kitchen, and the floor tiles on the stairs leading to the toilet have not been replaced since my last visit.
The worst impression was caused by the menu, which is the first thing the guest picks up. It is so dirty, torn, stuck together that I would have liked to have asked for rubber gloves.
It's a shame that a restaurant with such nice staff and good cuisine, in a central tourist location, lets itself down with such cheap things.

Place totally not recommended. About the food is not bad but nothing special (only positive note the gulash ). About the service was a complete disaster; the rude waitresses, almost as if they were doing us a favor to serve us. We ordered two gulash to be divided as well as having already ordered more and we asked for dishes and the Response was NO because otherwise I do not have any for other customers (nearly empty room and that Anyway has at least 50 seats). We ordered water, we were 8 and they brought us 4 glasses. In conclusion all Gulash and nastiness.

Absolutely delicious authentic Hungarian food ! The type your grandma (a top class grandma cook)would make !! I should know my wife’s grandma is Hungarian!! Katrina S obviously knows very little about Hungarian food her review was shockingly inaccurate!! The food quality in Tukory Etteram is outstanding!! I had the classic Hungarian duck with red cabbage and mashed potatoes with onions and an obviously home made long marinated jus ! The duck was perfectly seasoned and succulent !! Typical Hungarian probably the tastiest duck in the world! The service was top class ! Professional efficient and friendly! Service was quick but not too fast to be rushed ! The staff were friendly and very attentive explaining the menu very clearly! Obviously but something some poorly travelled people don’t appreciate good fresh cooked food takes longer than hot plate rubbish! Try cooking a duck at home ! (Or maybe not) The house wine was great value and proper Hungarian! The many photos speak for themselves and pie reviews are really not justified for this excellent authentic Hungarian restaurant!!

A nice address in the parliament district, setting and typical dishes. Correct welcome, nothing more. The dishes are copious and tasty for more than reasonable prices: beef goulash for 2560 forins (€6), chicken on potatoes covered with a thick layer of cheese and mushrooms (boxed unfortunately) for 4350 forins ( €11) a pancake stuffed with meat for 3560 forins (€9). 300ml beer for 830 forins (€2.10).
It's not the best restaurant but it is interesting, especially since the decoration is typical.

We were recommended this restaurant by friends. Nestled on a side street between the parliament building complex and Bajcsy-Zslinasky Ut this unpretentious eatery was full of young people on a Friday night, and they weren't tourists. We had been recommended this as a place to eat, and weren't disappointed. The goulash soup comes in two sizes, and the larger is generous in size, with plenty of melt in the mouth meat. The souvide dug leg came with mashed potato and cabbage coleslaw. For dessert there was pancakes with a heavy chocolate and walnut sauce. All washed down with a bottle of 'dark' stout beer. We hadn't bothered to book, so ended up with a table by the door, but in a booth, so perfectly acceptable. Service was Hungarian style, a long wait for our order to be taken, and little interest either in the progress of the meal or our need for a bill. Still, its the food and atmosphere that counts, and I can live with this level of attention. When presented the bill was just a total written on a piece of paper. No itemised account here. Would visit again, as good value for money for the market it is aiming to serve.

We visited with a small tour group, retirees from N America: a quiet group, and the restaurant was sparsley attended. Service was terrible, food presentation was sloppy, the food was mediocre, and the staff acted as if they did not want us there. Only the dessert was well done but handed out coldly and quickly.

The taxi driver en route to our nearby hotel recommended this small family restaurant. We started our 7 night stay here and were so impressed by the food quality, the service and the excellent value that we dined there 5 times in a week and were pleased every time. You may need to book near weekends as the locals are the main clients which is always a good recommendation.

I went in hungry and decided on the sous vide duck breast with fried potatoes. There was a duck breast that had been warmed up somehow, the skin was cut and browned but was soft. It was served without sauce, with jam and 4 greasy rösti. Once and never again.

My family visited at the end of a long day and it was excellent. The staff couldn’t have been friendlier and more helpful as we started outside then moved inside due to a rain storm. They helped us pick out the best local dishes from the menu and it gave the feeling of a home cooked meal. For great Hungarian food friendly atmosphere and reasonable prices this place is a home run.

It was expensive and tasteless. Even though the boss tried his best to serve me, he didn't even charge the 24% service charge. I saw a few people and walked in to try it. It was not during dinner time. There were very few people. I ordered a cup of peach tea. I thought it was cheap and ordered it. I know it’s just a lipton, the pork chop noodles are equivalent to the quality of a tea restaurant

The food was delicious! I have been to Budapest on business over 50 times but a new client from the Hungarian parliament took me here! He described it as a REAL Hungarian restaurant serving top quality authentic Hungarian food ! The restaurant is not a tourist trap and not in the busiest tourist area but the food was special! It’s the best out of the 70 plus Hungarian restaurants I’ve been to for lunch and dinner ! Delicious food great quality local wines ! So friendly and professional service. They appreciated my poor attempts at Hungarian! The price was great value ! I can not wait to return!

We came here recommended by a guide. Very popular place among residents. Eat quantity and good quality. The staff could use a few more smiles but they aren't rude either. I would say that to eat local food in a place that is not too touristy but also equipped for foreigners, it is really good.
