On our first visit, we were impressed by the very friendly atmosphere; our individual wishes were taken into account when making a reservation over the phone. The menu is not overly extensive, which we did not see as a disadvantage at all; we received excellent advice on both the choice of dishes and wines. You do have to wait a while for the food: that speaks for the kitchen and not against the service! All the dishes were excellent; small changes to the order were taken into account.
On our second visit a few days later, they were happy to see us again and this time too we were completely satisfied. Conclusion: not a fancy tourist all-you-can-eat restaurant but solid, excellent cuisine and friendly service. We recommend it without reservation!

An excellent restaurant, with very good and tasty dishes, of which I highlight the duck and pistachio tiramisu. A fusion of traditional and modern cuisine that does not leave you indifferent. The service is attentive, but as happens elsewhere, dishes take longer to arrive. As a final note, say that it is close to some Ruin Bars, if you want to have a drink later.

Went here for lunch after a guided walking tour of the Jewish quarter. It wasn't far from the last stop of the walk, so very convenient. We had booked a table and received a warmish welcome and shown to a table. We were quickly brought the menu and asked for glasses of tap water. As we eat relatively carb-free, the menu was a bit of a challenge, but we finally chose the roasted cauliflower with cod. It was really delicious and we both enjoyed our dishes, but the cod was very salty and slightly undercooked for my taste. We eventually found out that the chef had used salt cod for the dish, but this wasn't indicated on the menu. However, the service wasn't great - the young female server didn't speak much English, so it was difficult to communicate, we had asked a particular question and she said she would send her manager over to answer, but the manager, although hovering around, never arrived at our table. Food was excellent, but the service wasn't great. We were a bit put out by the smoke wafting over from the "smoking" area of the restaurant's rear exterior, to where we were sitting in the non-smoking area. But we really enjoyed our lunch (we only had one course) although it was a bit more expensive than we had bargained for.

Turned up with my daughter to eat here she had picked the restaurant and what a treat really lovely main meal goose red cabbage and potatoe and to be honest could not do it justice as it was really nice plenty of meat and we just couldn’t eat it all up wish we could have. Very pleasant ambiance a really nice find in the back streets or the Jewish quarter and would highly recommend and fairly priced which topped the evening off. Would definitely try it if you get a chance they also do lunch etc so give it a go. Very enjoyable. We were just visiting Budapest on holiday.

Came here a few times, always the experience was good. The food is honest, clean, not a typical stodgy, heavy Hungarian meal. In fact the food selection is varied and cross cultural, a bit like this area in the city, the menu isn't huge but the food is done really well. Atmosphere is casual but classy, service the same and in a way so is the food. The waiters were helpful when we came in once with 8 people on a whim and were able to seat us, no problem.
Prices are fair for the quality, especially considering the times we are in and compared to other big cities.

Fabulous meals with daily offerings and seasonal menu changes. We thoroughly enjoyed both dishes ordered and felt the prices were very reasonable( €32 for both dishes). Table water is provided free of charge. Staff was attentive and kind. Free WiFi is also provided with indoor and outdoor seating options.

Small restaurant in the Jewish quarter which offers a convenient menu for lunch with also veg dishes. You can choose between starters, main courses and dessert; the menu also includes iced tea or wine.
For a pork cutlet with potatoes and tea I spent just over 2,000 forints! Excellent lunch, quick and cheap.

We spent a pleasant dinner in this restaurant with an informal and welcoming atmosphere. Very good goulash but the main dishes are truly stellar! As a gluten-free option I was able to eat a duck breast with pear puree and celeriac chips which was truly excellent and recommended.
Fair prices and really friendly and helpful staff.

This restaurant perfectly combines tasty Hungarian cuisine with a cozy space and very friendly service. Wide variety of dishes and drinks. You can have lunch and dinner as well as drinks, all to choose from a great menu. You can't leave Budapest without visiting this place.

After trying the excellent goulash on the recommendation of a couple of compatriots, we returned several evenings. The Jerusalem artichoke soup is delicious and the salad with vegan meatballs is excellent. Not bad duck leg with red cabbage and potatoes. Tasty and well-balanced dishes. 10% tip mandatory, but the staff (all young and smiling) were always very nice. Welcoming environment that feels like home and fair value for money. Promoted 👍🏻

I went with my mother and my 17-year-old daughter and we found the food great and the care unbeatable. We asked to taste wine and typical Hungarian food and we let ourselves be advised and it was quite a success. Tiramisu with pistachio for dessert is a delicious choice. The truth is that although we went thanks to the recommendation of a blog that indicated that there was music and terrazzo, but it was not open and there was no music, we imagined that because it was winter. Still, we enjoyed a lot in an almost reserved area of three little tables. An option for dinner or meals in the Jewish quarter highly recommended.

Lovely location and great vibe!
Attentive staff and whilst the menu was limited the food couldn’t be faulted.
We had shared started and then had mains ranging from cod to the amazing confit of goose leg and chicken.
Quality was good, and we all left very happy.
Takes a little finding as off the beaten track but I’d say seek it out as it’s well worth it.

On the first night of our stay we wanted to eat not far from the hotel and could get the last free table here. That turned out to be a stroke of luck! The food exceeded our expectations, especially the unusual dessert combinations. It wasn’t until visiting the Secret Museum after dinner that we learned that the restaurant traditionally offers Jewish food. Service and food are worth every forint!

Suggested by a Hungarian friend, welcoming, right in the center, informal, honest food and good value for money. 'Melting pot' cuisine, alongside good local dishes (goulash soup, various recipes based on duck, beef or pork) Mediterranean, vegetarian, creative dishes. Good bottles, if you don't want an honest house wine. Appreciable desserts. Recommended to avoid too touristy risks in the city center.

Pretty impressed with Koleves, menu is pleasingly short, not like the restaurants that offer you a thousand dishes that must all be microwaved. Soup options are very home made. Duck and goose main courses were excellent... we went twice! Veggie options were just OK we thought. Service excellent. Good value for money. Nice beer and wine.
