During our stay we ate at the restaurant. Ok it was a Sunday night but we were not the only customers there. First in a not friendly way, the waiter told us that they only accepted cash (florint or Euros). The waiter came at least 3 times to see if we were ready to order and looking at his watch.... More

The food here is edible - if you're extremely hungry. All menu offerings are inexplicably double or triple the price they merit. The fish soup, a dish this restaurant supposedly prizes itself on, was not only lukewarm when served, but also tasteless: it literally might as well have been from a jar or can. Service? A joke, even by already... More

While entering, we were asked to pay by cash. If that wasn't a problem, we could enter. The food served was as expected. Tasted expected, not above average. I would recommend this restaurant if you are searching for a quick diner, not expecting too much, of decent quality.

NOTE - Cash Only - or it was the night we went in. Not an expensive / upmarket restaurant by any means but don't let that put you off. Food was no nonsense local fair. We had paprika chicken - effectively creamy chicken with very mild paprika taste. Also a venison stew. Fabulous - fruity dark sauce and the meat... More

We came across this restaurant by accident as we were having a walk aside the Danube river and we were pleasantly surprised. It was a nice place, not very good interior but food was extremely delicious. Service was ok and the place was not overpriced despite the central location.

This place came highly recommended but fell short of expectations. Food lacked flavor and the quality left little to be desired.

Close to the river on Buda side between Chain Bridge and Batthyany Ter. Lovely local fish restaurant (good range of non fish dishes too). Very busy and plenty of locals in on a cold Tuesday in February.

We stopped here once and ate lunch. The restaurant has interesting decor and the sidewalk/al fresco dining which we liked. The food was okay but the service left much to be desired in the way of friendliness and timeliness. Of course, everyone can have an 'off' day but we didn't revisit.

The place looks a bit old and dirty, the service is not the best, but the fish soup is absolutely marvellous. My advice: take as many different fish soups, as many people in the company, take a house white wine and enjoy! We liked the most the Korhely style soup, with lemon and garlic, great! But other soups are very... More

Poor service and dirty table made a service-charge a bit insulting. Food was just "okay.." I guess it's in a nice location so maybe that's what you pay for...

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
