I wanted a special evening with my girlfriend during my first visit in Budapest. I was blown off by the concept of a tasting menu based on a book (Eat, Pray, Love) in a restaurant-library. I was already sold before starting. But I was nevertheless...pleasantly surprised. The service was impeccable, the food and wine pairings delicious. A gem. I will definitely come backMore

Interesting concept - eat in a library! Good service, good food. Cosy atmosphere. Goulash soup was good as well as the trout. Sweet wine to end a good time glancing at a few books. Enjoyed it.

This restaurant is a gem! The food is delicious and the waiter’s very pleasant & knowledgeable. The lady owner reads books and then sots down with the chef to prepare a special 5 course meal based around the book- very unique! I had a main...meal and a starter based on “ Charlie & the Chocolate factory” by Roald Dahl. My main was a duck dish with a chocolate sauce - with carrots on puree and peanuts in it & pickled cabbage . Tasted delicious. Then the real gem was the desert - a work of art & tupical of a michelin star restaurant ( but this isn’t & the prices are very reasonable). Just see the pictures - it was a work of art. And they even sell Hingarian Whiskey ! A delightful place & I will be back !More

Harmonic atmosphere, excellent service, all the dishes made with care, heart and fantasy. Wines selected with fantastic taste. An original and ingenious Hungarian place. An exquisite choice for everyone who'd like to have a touch of a magnificent and delicate experience.

Presentation is wonderful and really unique, but the taste of the dishes was medicore (exept for gulash soup). We at lunch and the restaurant was almost empty and still service was slow. We wanted to order desserts but had to leave after spending almost 80...minutes in the restaurant.More

I found this restaurant on TripAdvisor. As we only are in Budapest for a short trip I wanted to make sure we will have great dinners. KonyvBar & Restaurant really met our expectations. When you pass by the restaurant it really looks like a book...store. We decided to order the full tasting menu with the wine pairing. I visited the restaurant with my sister who is a vegetarian and she was also accommodated and loved her courses, especially the hummus she got instead of my foie gras lollipops. The book for this month is Charley and the Chocolate Factory and each dish was colorful and delicious. My favorite dish was the duck with chocolate. The red cabbage gazpacho with mustard ice cream was the biggest surprise. Each dish was unique and the wine pairing was excellent. Each of the wines were Hungarian and were a perfect match with the dish. Our server was very friendly and knowledgable and made our experience at KonyvBar & Restaurant unforgettable. We will definitely return when we are back in Budapest. It’s a must when you visit this beautiful city!More

Great service first of all. Budapest is really upping its game in the last few years in terms of service and quality of gastronomy. Upscale, five courses menus with a lot to look forward to.

The food is tasty. What is impressive is the contrast between different tastes, structures, temperatures and colores. The plates look like a painting. The menu is themed around a particular book. It is also possible to order seperate dishes. Service is good. You get an...explanation of each plate. Furthermore, they have attention to detail. For example, the pepper was seperated from the soup for our children. They also have a broad range of lemonades. Our children liked them. Surprisingly affordable. A bit outside the city center but well worth the trip.More
