I highly recommend KönyvBár & Restaurant. We have been there multiple times and it never disappoints. The service is excellent. The waiters make sure to answer all your questions, tell the story of the dishes or recommend a good wine. The restaurant has good vibes...and a nice, cozy atmosphere. On top, the food is always delicious :)More

Visited this week as a family of 5 and had the best experience. 3 of us had the tasting menu and two of the children had the main menu. The waiter was really attentive, talked us through the food and wine at each course; he...was great with the kids and their met all their wishes. The food was exceptional; the flavours, creativity and links to the book were amazing. My eldest, who is 11, described the whole experience as sensational! We loved how each dish was presented, with a description of each. I also loved trying some new Hungarian wines. I cannot recommend the experience enough. Thank you so much to all the talented chefs and wonderful front of house staff at KonyvBar.- we truly loved our evening. If only we could come again!More

This was our second visit to this amazing restaurant in the Jewish Quarter and was one of our "must-do" activities for our trip to Budapest. We love the concept of designing a menu around a book and this time it was Harry Potter and the...Cursed Child (OK, it's a play rather than a book but when the food is this good, who cares?). The courses tell the story and some of the presentation was truly innovative and added to the overall experience. Wine pairing provided for the most part was excellent too and I think this time around the overall meal was even better than our previous (Lord of the Rings) visit several years ago. We have sampled more expensive tasting menus (including in Budapest) that in our opinion are not as good as this and I believe it offers exceptional value for money.More

This was probably the best meal I’ve ever had in my life. We booked before arriving in Budapest and my partner made them aware of his but allergy. The team were fantastic, they were so accommodating to his allergy adjusting the menu slightly so that...he didn’t miss out. Our book was Harry Potter and the cursed child. We did the wine pairing menu, it was expensive but so worth it. The food was delicious, the staff were lovely, the wine was fabulous and the whole experience was just fantastic. Highly recommend!More

We had dinner here because there was no other place where we could find a table so we eneded uo here. We didn't know anything about the restaurant but it was such an amazing surprise ! The concept is truly smart and intersting, we had...never seen anything like so before ! The sevice was perfect and the waiters adorable. The food was excellent and everything about the menu and the atmosphere was prepared in every detail. I would recommend this place for people who would like to have an atypical experience of a book they read. For us it was Stephen King's It. It is a way to go through the story again but by using one of our main interest: gastronomy. It was one of our best moments in Budapest and we would love to come back again.More

I can hardly decide on where to start. Based on tripadvisor reviews we made a spontaneous decision to have dinner there. We dropped in after 2 pm and they easily found us a spot for two at 7 pm. We decided to go on the...journey of the "cooked book" (in our case, Stephen King's "IT"), and we were blown away, to say the least. The food tasted simply amazing, we had de most attentive and sweet server, the atmosphere was cozy and intimate, every dish was decorated to match the story in every detail... it was simply an adventure. We also opted for the wine pairing and we were truly taken on a one-of-kind journey through hungarian vinery. We were impressed with the tastes of the local, organic wines. We even bought two bottles to takeaway (and were given a generous discount). Go eat there, if you have the chance!More

Too much hoobrah at the cost of flavor. The book and movie concept is interesting but when you use beetroot sauce as blood for you theme it’s just too much. I can honestly say it’s an appetite killer to use violence around a meal. Yuck....The beef dish was tough and cold and dinner was way overpriced. Won’t be going back.More
