My home town has the largest number of Greeks outside of Greece so we’re blessed to have some of the best Greek restaurants on our doorstep. I was told that Taverna Dionysos was up there with the best of anything we have in Melbourne and I wasn’t disappointed. We made a booking earlier that day as we’d been warned the... More

The food was out of this world, presentation, flavours, quality of meat and fish, the taste of the food 10/10. The restaurant was beautiful, it's a shame we had to walk to into freezing cold after our meal, when the atmosphere in there had us teleported momentarily to Greece. Staff were really nice, knowledgeable about which wine went with any... More

If you like Greek food - you'll enjoy Dionysos immensely. I am very fond of Greek food, and enjoy it whenever and wherever I can. Taverna Dionysos fulfilled all my expectations of a good Greek restaurant - food, atmosphere, and service, as if you are in Greece. The place is large, and was full the whole evening we spent there,... More

Let's began with the atmosphire - it is amazing feeling to be in Italy while in Budapest. The got everything on the menu from the Italian colinery. We have tested the Pizza, the Ravvioli and more and it was amazing. Don't miss the Terimasso at the end. A very good experience.

Been to this restaurant many times and its always great. Can't go to Budapest without visiting. Introduced many friends to Dionysos without hesitation. People are always delighted by the interior and the food is wonderful. There cannot be many rest rooms in the world to beat the facilities here. Marvellous

The food and location are second to none. I had the Horiatiko Bifteki (Greek Hamburger stuffed with feta and tomatoes) with Vasiliko (Lime and Basil drink) to wash it down. The traditional grape leaves and rice were excellent before the meal and the dessert was top notch too. The ambiance was perfection and the wash rooms must be seen to... More

Food here is fresh and plentiful, with many little extras that make a dinner memorable. The pita bread, served hot with hummus, is to die for and the lamb was perfect. Location right on the river can't be beat. Clean and lively, seems to be very popular.

We ate Gyros and Grilled pork, it was amazing. The restaurant is very typical and waiters are very nice. In next time in Budapest we certainly will be back.

A little Greece on the riverbank of the Danube... Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked home style bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. The pampering feeling of authentic entertainment accompanies the guests from the moment they enter up until they leave. We hope you visit us soon so that we may entertain you for a few hours here in little Greece of Budapest!

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
