Situated just riverside, Taverna Dionysos is the best greek food in Pest. The interior decor, friendly wait staff, and delicious genuine greek food together led to a very enjoyable night. I strongly recommend this restaurant. Price is reasonable for the quality and quantity of food.

Walked here after a couple of hours of bathing at Gellert Spa across the bridge. Outstanding appetizer sampler plate and the fruit soup was ridiculously good. Friendly and delicious.

What a pleasure to visit such a lovely venue, busy but the staff make you feel important. Food was delicious and plentiful. The menu was large. The toilets are something else! If you want a table outside overlooking the Danube then you need to book in advance. I would go back.

I visited this restaurant with my girlfriend in the expectation of tasting the real Mediterranean flavours, since I'm also a Mediterranean man, this place had to deliver. Well I'm in love with this pearl. The white and blue is all over taking me back to those little villages in Greece with nice old grandmas taking care of their nephews. The... More

Really nice restaurant on the banks of the Danube - near the Liberty Bridge. Very welcoming, personal and professional service plus lovely food. Take care with your food choices - it's easy to over order since the portions are very generous. Many delicious dishes typical of the Greek Islands and the restaurant decor is white stucco to recreate a Taverna... More

Perfect place if going in a group, you can order a variety of dishes to share and it was all delicious. I was super impressed with the grill octopus, perfect texture, moist and the taste was perfect. The ambiance was beautiful all over the establishment, we sat on the second floor and it was cozy; you can also seat outside.... More

I arrived at the restaurant and orderd a rabbit leg seasoned the traditional Hungarian way. Really wanted to go thrre because of the good reviews. Didnt have the bugted for apetizers, drink or deserts though. They impressed me by bringing a simple version of all of those. A bread with chikepas sauce, water with lemons and a watermelon bowl for desert.... More

After reflecting on our superior dining experience at Taverna Dionysos, we felt it would be an egregious err of our human decency not to mention the two things that made the experience a delight. The bathrooms were space age. Sliding doors, shaving materials and mouth wash on the sink, and patterned embossing on the paper towels. We would be perfectly... More

Description
A little Greece on the riverbank of the Danube... Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked home style bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. The pampering feeling of authentic entertainment accompanies the guests from the moment they enter up until they leave. We hope you visit us soon so that we may entertain you for a few hours here in little Greece of Budapest!

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
