Visited this lovely restaurant located on the bank of the Danube whilst in Budapest last week for a few days after reading all the great reviews.....we were not disappointed! From the moment you set foot in here, the whole experience is genuinely positive, we were instantly greeted on arrival by two members of staff (one of which I assumed to... More

In a whole week exploring Budapest, here we had our best meal. I love Greek food, and here it is excellent. Service is also astonishing. If you are a woman, they will gift you with a pink rose when you leave. The atmosphere is of a tavern, not a high-level restaurant. It is also quite noisy as it is a... More

We booked a table for 4 persons just on the previous day and was lucky to be able to get a place. We ordered the seafood platter for 4 and also a breaded veal, food arrived very timely and was very good. In fairness, the platter could probably feed 5 or 6 persons but equally generous for 4 persons. Service... More

Went there as pretty hungry group and tried several different meals which covered everything - from appetizer over main course to dessert. Just perfect. Food was amazing both in terms of quality and quantity. Interior is really nice with breathtaking toilette area. I know it's bit awkward to emphasize this, but I've never seen something like that. It is more... More

Taverna Dionysos is one of the best restaurants I have ever been to. Starting from food, which is really delicious, to the interior which looks amazing. The service is also great, the people working there are kind - especially Mr. Aslan Bilal who was very kind, helpful and friendly. Everyone who visits this restaurant will definitely not regret it.

I have been living in Budapest for over a year now and this was the first place that my boyfriend and I discovered. We have been coming here ever since at least couple of times per month and every time the food and service were impeccable. We absolutely love this place and even though I am moving away, we will... Description
A little Greece on the riverbank of the Danube... Dionysos moved to the Pest bank of the River Danube on New Year's Eve 1993 and has since delighted the dwellers of our city with delicacies of Greek cuisine and delicious wine of its vineyards. The air is filled with the fragrance of char-grilled meats and fishes, fresh-cut vegetables and crispy-baked home style bread. Thanks to the friendly atmosphere, diners chit-chat casually around the tables, which blends pleasantly into the melodies of Greek music playing in the background. It is good to be in this restaurant. The pampering feeling of authentic entertainment accompanies the guests from the moment they enter up until they leave. We hope you visit us soon so that we may entertain you for a few hours here in little Greece of Budapest!

Staying in District V / Inner City

Neighborhood Profile
District V / Inner City
Discover the Inner City along the banks of the Danube, with its fashionable shops and iconic buildings. The Inner-City Parish Church and St. Stephen’s Basilica stand out as two of the finest examples of architecture in the area. If you are still hunting for more historical treats, then the ruins of the medieval city walls on Kecskeméti Utca are a must-visit while the Soviet War Memorial is also worthy of attention and relevant to Hungary’s more recent history. If shopping is on your itinerary, then be prepared: the market squares in this area are an absolute delight, particularly during the Christmas period, but even throughout the year you’ll find the latest trends in the shops on Vaci Utca.
