Went twice for dinner - ordered soup and salad as main meals looked huge. Walked in as a solo diner without a reservation and got good service. I saw some negative reviews about service, but I had a very positive experience. Food seems to be...genuine Hungarian, very fresh and delicious.More

My wife and I had the unfortunate experience of dining at Menza this evening. Despite its popularity among tourists and its convenient location near the Hungarian Academy of Music, where we were attending a concert, our visit left much to be desired. The meal itself...was decent, with average table service and acceptable yet unremarkable food at reasonable prices. However, our evening took a disappointing turn right from the start, thanks to the receptionist, Hajnal. She greeted us with an obnoxious and unhelpful attitude, seemingly content with being unwelcoming. Despite showing her our booking confirmation, she initially couldn't locate our reservation until my wife spotted our name on her list. Throughout our meal, we observed her rudeness towards other guests, creating a negative atmosphere. While the restaurant was bustling and had queues, the unfriendly reception left us with a lasting impression of unwelcome hospitality. It's disheartening when successful establishments become complacent and neglect the importance of genuine customer service. In a competitive market, overlooking the significance of guest satisfaction can lead to failure. It's our hope that Menza recognizes the impact of their staff's behavior on the overall dining experience and takes steps to improve in the future.More

We were on our first night in Budapest and asked our hotel to recommend a local restaurant. We were told about Menza about a 7 minute walk from our hotel. We had not booked so were lucky to get a table . The service was...attentive and friendly and the food was superb. Quite a range on the menu of very different dishes that we were used to. Both my wife and I enjoyed our meals very much indeed so much that we tried to book for the following night but they were fully bookedMore

When we sit down at the table we notice that it is dirty and greasy. Anyway, I ask the waiter to bring me some typical Hungarian food and as a starter he serves me a crepe filled with minced chicken and covered in a sea...of cream and tomato purée. Truly disgusting. As a main course I am served a cut of mangalica beef surrounded by burnt vegetables. Really dull dish. The courses chosen by my table companions are uninspiring dishes too. Exorbitantly priced bottles of water and a choice of wines by the glass so meager as to leave you speechless. Experience not to be repeated.More

Dined at Menza with friends while on holiday in Budapest. We walked in as we were unable to reserve a table due to it being short notice, but this was not a problem as we were seated within 5 minutes of being added to the...waiting list. The staff were very attentive, welcoming and speedy in terms of taking orders and delivering food to our table. The food itself was stunning - they have quite an extensive menu with many traditional Hungarian dishes but also a range of Mediterranean and Asian options also. There is certainly something to suit everyone's taste. I would definitely come back to Menza! Thank you to the staff for making our experience so great.More

AWFUL AND RUDE staff… we wanted to try this restaurant after a friend recommended this place, so we went there since we wanted a good casual meal. When we got there A VERY unpleasant woman at the front dared to reject us with the excuse...of having the “system down”. I decided to follow along her game, since I saw there were people eating and drinking. She was so lousy she couldn’t even keep up with the lie. We even saw people entering on our way out. Of course we left after all this unnecessary charade and went to spend our money somewhere else. I never felt this humiliated! This is the FIRST TIME something like this ever happened to us, even after going to better and classier restaurants including Michelin stars restaurants. My husband and I are foodies who travel around the world trying good restaurants and this one was NOT the case.More

People were seated, but at the front desk we got the message they have issues with "their system" to make orders. And we can't be seated nor pay. Maybe dealing with crisis situations is something what can be handled better... Instead of rude rejecting customers.

Oooooh what an amazing food in Budapest 😍😍😍 Definitely we would recommend this place if you want to combine good local food with a good atmosphere. They also serve nice fish , so it is suitable for those who want to skip pork/beef.

Pretty average food. Came here upon seeing decent reviews and was quite disappointed. Worse meal we had in Budapest. It wasn’t terrible but just nothing special. The duck was over cooked to near well done despite having asked for medium. They changed it upon complaint...but was still not medium enough. Service was fine, nothing special but not bad either. Just overall pretty average, wouldn’t waste your holiday quota on this. The only thing great was the location. Would not recommend but I wouldn’t go as far as to say it was bad, just very very average.More

A local suggested this restaurant and said it was her favorite. I can see why. We stopped by in afternoon to make a reservation and she only has late night open but said if we just come earlier she probably would have a table. And...we did and she sat us within 5 minutes. So friendly and welcoming. Everything we ate was delicious and the local wine was very good too. And it's on a nice pedestrian street with beautiful architecture so getting there and walking around after is also great. It certainly made for a nice evening!More

Very good Hungarian and international food in very pleasant surroundings. We booked ahead but even so appeared they gave away our table to someone else and tried to put us on a crappy table outside. They kindly moved us inside though when we requested. Extensive...menu and good selection of mainly Hungarian wines. 3 out of 4 of us ordered the chicken crepe entree. I had the roasted duck breast for mains which was excellent. Very tender. Should not have ordered entree though as meals are big. Dont expect super personal service from a place so big and busy though.More
