The restaurant is in an old building by the Fishermen’s Bastion and Matthias Church. The food is decent and of traditional inspiration, but not memorable.

Clearly ancient building close to the Matyas Church with a pleasant shady terrace. Good Hungarian basics - we enjoyed our Hortobágyi pancakes, Goulash and cucumber salad. With a large draught beer, mineral water and espresso, the bill came to HUF 8,500 (about A$40) for two....Friendly service.More

Great location and fantastic meal. Service was prompt. Meal was absolutely fantastic and I would have had another one if I had the space. I have been here before and would definitely give it another visit. Restaurant is cosy in side but more than ample...space for a good few people.More

Lovely place to try some authentic Hungarian dishes. Very reasonably priced food and drink. Great goulash! Not a very good place for vegetarians though as most dishes contain meat. The restaurant feels very rustic and family friendly with a casual atmosphere. Located close to the...Basilica and top of the FunicularMore

We had dinner at Arany Hordo on our last night in Budapest. Since we do not take meat we ordered grilled fish with grilled vegetables and rice. The food was okay but the service was slow, maybe because the restaurant was almost full. Eventhough we...were sitting at a table where the waiters couldn’t miss seeing us, we had to call out to them to ask for drinks. Overall eventhough the food was palatable the ambience was not very inviting , it felt crowded.More

Because this restaurant is located in a very touristy area the staff are extremely rude. They do not know anything about customer service and I suggest you don't go there unless you want to be treated poorly! There are so many nicer places to go...to. Skip this place!More

After visiting the fisherman Bastion, we were alittle hungry. We found this place on a quaint little road away from the crowds. White and red checked table cloths, menu in various languages. We ordered a cheese plate and I ordered the fish stew and it...was wonderful. Not enough liquid to be called a stew in my book but non the less very tasty. I would order that again. My wife ordered the lecso smoked sausage which was incredible. We got a couple drinks and a desert all for 62 us dollars. The service was impeccable. Carrying but not hovering.More

We were there on a Friday. We did not need to book ahead. We used a Visa card and our bill printed out in Euros.
