Our first night in Budapest and we hunted down this restaurant due to Trip Advisor reviews. It was exactly what we were looking for. We had made a reservation but got lost so were late. No problem at all. Warmly welcomed into a cosy, fun, casual place with wonderful musicians. Very big portions, be warned, of delicious food. Very reasonable prices and service was warm and friendly even though the place was totally full.
It was so good we ate there two nights out of our three night stay. Highly recommend.

Love it
1. The ambient of the restaurant is really good, there are musicians playing typical Hungarian music in the restaurant. It is not too noisy and they played it in a not disruptive tune. Love the music and it makes the dinner more pleasant.
2. The waiter speaks brilliant English, he introduces us different types of food and they are really delicious. He is very honest too, by telling us not to order too much or else we could not finish the food.
3. The assortment of meat is brilliant, the sausage are grilled nicely, the meat are not too dry and they are tender. The soup is a little bit bland, but if you add a little bit paprika, it would be good.
4. The decoration of the restaurant is very cozy and it is very Hungarian.
5. The location is at the city center so it is very easy to reach the restaurant.

Really enjoyed our visit here. The lady that works outside was so knowledgeable and helpful.
We wanted to try the goulash in the bread bowl and tried the bean and 3 meats goulash soup after she recommended it. Very tasty, really enjoyed.
Although a little bit pricey, would return and try more of the menu! Thanks

We took traditional gulas soups cooked in bread. My wife took soup with beans and I took Balaton fisherman soup. Taste was good and portion size was just right. We took small glasses of white wine and small Sprites with food and total price with service fee was a bit over 11 000 forints. Service was professional, friendly and nice.

We were recommended this restaurant by a friend however we were underwhelmed. The service was friendly and the live music was the highlight. However, the food came out within minutes of ordering and was piping hot (as if it had been microwaved...). We ordered chicken paprikash and the goulash in a bread bowl. The chicken was dry and the paprikash sauce was under seasoned to our taste. The bread bowl absorbed all the goulash and went mushy very quickly - becoming inedible. If you order goulash I would just order it in a regular bowl rather than bread.

We visited this restaurant with friends while on holiday, good Menu choices of typical Hungarian food, very friendly staff, food well cooked and presented. Lovely atmosphere with an excellent band playing gypsy style music. Excellent musicians who serenaded everyone in turn playing any requests.

Was just walking by when Barbara the lady who stands at the door to get customers in started talking to us, she’s great! And really spoke through the menu, she was so welcoming and friendly, an amazing addition to the restaurants, five stars to her !!!! I had goulash soup in the restaurant which came out quickly and tasted really good it was served with paprika and break on the side. The price was fair considering it was inner city. I would reccomend!

We came on the Saturday night looking for some hearty food. We was shoved in a corner- granted we hadn’t booked however they shouldn’t place tables where you struggle to get the waiters attention as we was tucked away.
We got the mixed meat platter which was fairly expensive for the amount of food we had. It took approximately 30/40 minutes for it to come out. The meat was lukewarm,
poor quality and fatty cuts. There could have been more of it for the price. This came to £60 with soft drinks- which I think it is steep.
When the bill came they automatically added the service charge, we kindly asked to take it off however the waiter insisted this is law in Hungary and would refuse to take it off. We left with a bitter taste in our mouth after having average food. Overall I think the food was ok but we have definitely had better meals than this over our break.

Hungarian Hell's Kitchen has a great selection of Hungarian favorites dishes. The waiters are extremely helpful and friendly. During my first visit they adviced me on what to order and everything I had was very delicious. The restaurant also offers live music performance. If you are Budapest and you would like to experience the most delicious dishes this restaurant is a must for you to visit and experience it yourself..

We visited this restaurant just before the Corona lockdown began and we were so glad we did. Food was delicious, the service was perfect and it was very reasonable price wise. The music was fun and gave a great atmosphere. I would highly recommend a visit. The only thing to comment is that their single wine serving are small....order a double!!!!!!!

It was a joke. The most overpriced restaurant that I saw. The food is not extraordinary at all, but exaggerated pricey. The small plates are not fancy at all, really ordinary.
The bill said service tips are included, and the waitress lied that they don’t get that money, so we should tip them beside that. What the hell? So where is that money going?
I do NOT recommend this place. You will be still hungry after paying more than 50 euros, for a simple plate and drink…

Part of the service fee is given to the waiters, I don't understand why the waiter told you not to get it. In all cases, we strive to correct the error.

Really good experience. Food came fast and was very good. The waiters were incredibly attentive and friendly. It’s definitely a place to go if you want to have local food with good beer to a reasonable price.

We went at 10.20 in the restaurant and the woman in front informed us that the kitchen closes at 11 but we could stay until 12 if we would like. At 10.50 the waiter asked us to pay while we were still eating, at 11 they turned the music off and started the closing process and low key kicking us out with their way of looking and talking to us. The food was nice and the prices reasonable but the service was really terrible and kinda lied to us about the closing time because if they had informed us thay they would be closing at 11 we wouldn't have sat there.

Intended to have a celebratory dinner with friends having travelled from far away to meet in Budapest. We were enticed by the description of the traditional Hungarian cuisine featured (which we know well from childhood) and the gypsy music band music (which we enjoy a lot).
Ordered a platter of appetizer. It consisted of a few pieces of dry sausage and salami, dubiously yellow lettuce leaves, a few slices of tasteless tomato, and three thin slices of jalopeno!!!! Presented as a "to share" appetizer plate for the table.
Ordered one shot of palinka (for each of the three of us) -- it was a disgusting, sweet, concoction with a chemical aftertaste. They would not show us the bottle from which the drinks were poured, much to our dismay. Decided to stop the dinner at that point, and were presented with a hefty 45,000 forint bill, approximately $120. Tip of 5% was included, and they refused to remove it. Service was pathetic, a bunch of men running around and "selling" stuff in the most unpleasant way.
The gypsy band was decent, but who cared at that point.
A classic tourist trap, don't fall into it.

We had dinner here our first night in Budapest. We had the chicken paprikash and the beef stew, both with gnocchi. The food was brought to our table almost immediately, probably because these are both cooked in large batches (as they require slow and low cooking). The food was good, service was good, but the ambiance was a little sterile and really aimed to tourists. Nothing wrong with this place at all, but there are better places to eat in Budapest. However, this was a good value for the money and is great for backpackers or others on a budget.
