Amazing friendly service and excellent food. Great atmosphere with live music. It's our first time in budapest so we wanted to try some traditional Hungarian dishes, we couldn't have chosen a better place. The staff are really friendly and will help you with your menu and also recommend the best traditional dishes. Matyas was a great host and everything he recommended was amazing. If you want good quality food and service at a good price I highly recommend this place. Thank you again matyas.

My family and I ate here twice during our stay in Budapest. The staff are friendly, the food is excellent and well-portioned, and they had two terrific live musicians. We were particularly impressed with the service by Matyas, who ensured that we would order and be served food that would arrive in time for us to catch the concert at the Zeneakademia across the street! We would definitely dine here again. Thank you, Matyas and staff!

We were looking for a place to have supper before heading to the bathhouse, and this place was a great find! We sat outside with a nice view of the street, which was a quiet pedestrian strip with a few other bars and restaurants up and down it. The service staff was friendly and gave us some great recommendations. The schnitzel was MASSIVE, and the pork knuckle was equally large (and worth the slightly longer cooking time)! The meals were absolutely delicious -- highly recommend!

We went in here to warm up and have a drink. We ordered a large beer and instead of a Mokka Bailey's my girlfriend asked if she could have a Latte Bailey's. Yep no problem they said. Whilst sat with our drinks we noticed they had a set menu on clipboards freely available to look at but not in English, as the food coming out looked good I asked for the set lunch menu in English. We don't have it business only was the reply, I said locals only and he said business only. Okay to me that's the same thing. When we received our bill instead of a Mokka Bailey's at 950huf they charged 700 for the latte and 1190 for the Bailey's. In other words if you're not a Hungarian local you get charged more and don't have the same available to you. Avoid

We went there for a luch, without reservation. Restourant is looking good but food and service is average.
We ate 4 types of stew served in small pots, it looked good.
One of them was cold, others were good temperature. Different types of meat were inside, not spicy, served with salad and side dish.
Ok, but nothing special. We would Like more side dish with that stew.

We went there for dinner, soupes were ok but nothing special, both main course were greasy (grilled duck on toasted milk loaf, scone with lethco and chicken liver) we couldn’t finish them. Waiter was rude, we felt like we have to rush, got are drinks, after that 5 minutes he already brought our soupes and soon the main courses. We booked the table for 7pm and we left at 8pm.
We will never go back again …

This authentic Hungarian restaurant caters to both locals and tourists, with perhaps a slight majority being local. The service is fantastic (thanks, Roland!), the food, consistently delicious. Try the goulash (but to sound familiar, pronounce the "l" with a "y" sound, saying, in effect, "gooyash"), and the schnitzel, and other local favorites. So as not to miss the treat, reservations are advised--even if it's the same day. We saw too many last-minute tourists being turned away in dismay. Great location within walking distance of the Oktogon rotary, the Opera, and the Liszt Music School and Music Center.

What a nice place for good quality local food and wine and proper service ! Every meal was tasty, carefully prepared and served. Wine selection was good and reasonable priced. Service attentive. Please make sure you made a booking, as traditional dinner time might be very busy. Highly recomend.

This was our second night eating on the patio at one of the several restaurants at Liszt Ferenc. The menu was interesting and varied, and our server Eddy was a pleasure! Very helpful, engaging, and appreciative of my attempts at Hungarian phrases. My wife had a smoked perch dish for a starter and I had their cold raspberry soup—both very tasty and attractively prepared. The entrees were excellent—lamb shank for her and spicy spare ribs for me. HUGE portions—we easily could have split one dish (which we had done at another restaurant the day before). We couldn’t even finish our potatoes, although I did make sure to finish the variety of pickled vegetables that came with mine. We were told the Hungarians pickle everything! And they do it well. All in all, it was a perfect end to a long day of sightseeing, especially with the great service Eddy provided.

Roland welcomed us, daughter and father, and immediately turned on the terrace heaters as we were cold from the drizzly weather conditions.
We wanted to have some more traditional Hungarian for, so we chose the beef stew. As per Roland's recommendation, accompanied by a nice, but affordable, red wine. Both food and atmosphere were good, later on the evening even with live piano.
Not entirely sure how they charged for the espresso martini's we had, because they weren't point the bill, but we did certainly pay for them.
We left with a smile on our faces.

I have to say that I’m not a complainer, and the food here is generally OK, well the starters were pretty damn good. The service however was abysmal, the like of which we have never experienced before. If I have any advice for the team at the front of house it is…… look for a new vocation, this one is not for you!!!!
It was a chilly evening and the ladies were probably under-dressed, we asked to sit inside but no tables were available. We asked if the table heater could be lit and told yes, despite repeated requests and being told in a minute!!! It never was in the 1 1/2 hrs we were there. They did however bring us a candle, possibly to make up for the lack of ambience.
Our ‘waiter’ finally came over after 15 minutes to ask if we knew what we wanted to drink and what we wanted to eat, we replied that a sight of a menu might help us make the decision. He brought us the menu(s) and stood by whilst we made our decision. He took our order of drinks and 4 starters and 4 mains without writing it down, when the drinks came we checked he had the right order and he confirmed.
To cut a long story short, our starters were very good, the mains less so, although only 3 turned up, by the time the missing meal was delivered to our table, we had all finished, and when we stated that it was too late, somehow it appeared to be our fault.
We wanted to sample traditional Hungarian Fayre, and were very disappointed with the beef stew (goulash) which was very fatty and chewy meat. The snitzel was inedible but the Pork tenderloin was superb, so all in all, the food was hit and miss (we had a chef in our party), the service was very very poor. If you don’t like waiting or interacting with people, don’t look for a career in food and beverage.
For me based on our experience, Walk on By….

One of the best in town hands down.
Very professional waiter named Roland was on top of every tiny detail and treated us like family. This is obvious as the pictures in the restaurant are of the staff showing the owner cares truly about his employees.
Amazing quality dishes.
A must place to eat visiting Budapest!

We found this spot on Google Maps as a highly rated spot with local fare which is what we were looking for and this spot nailed it! Second only to the excellent food was the fun, energetic, and attentive service from Roland. Thank you Roland, you made our time a blast and our Mom loved you :) We had some diet restricted folks with us and there was plenty for them to choose from. Everyone enjoyed their meal, cappuccino was excellent, and Roland's thoughtful gift of their local drink (idk what is was but it was like if whiskey and Port had a baby - it was good!) Overall highly recommend. We were just wrapping up when a pretty serious thunderstorm rolled through with hail! And the staff was extra accommodating and let us ride it out inside; it was that little extra something that inspired me to give the review, thank you to the staff for the hospitality, it was hugely appreciated!

Arrived there at about 14:00 and was greeted with a friendly hello, we were shown to a table outside and asked if it was OK and it was so we were given some menus, after a couple of minutes we ordered some drinks and then we ordered some food. The restaurant was fairly busy with both tourists and local family's . The food arrived and unfortunately due to my not really understanding the culinary differences I was unable to eat it. I felt terrible and when the server came over I explained and they were fantastic and offered if I would like something else I was too embarrassed to reorder but my wife absolutely loved hers and to be honest I wish I'd taken more time in asking about the dishes.
When the bill was asked for my item was not on there which was extremely generous of the restaurant.
I would recommend this restaurant for home cooked and fine dining with some very good wines and a lovely ambiance.

It's sad how they slide down. We have been with them several times, even before COVID we had a fantastic experience. Then both the service and the quality of the dishes were sumptuous! We loved going here.
Now it's all just the beautiful hazy past.
Last year, both the kitchen and the service were surprisingly weaker, but we blamed it on the crisis. Well, this year we managed to not try again.
The quality of the food is in the medium-poor category, and the service is particularly amateurish.
In short, guests should consider it an honor to be able to stop by.
When you slide the glass and push it on the table, it's not trendy in my opinion, it's rude. Although our table could be walked around, the waiters regularly passed the food over the two of us, and occasionally passed the plates to the other side of the table.
Being addressed as "Miss" in the 20s or 23 year old girls, fine. But to call my wife and mother-in-law (!) that way is rude and rude. You can also use the address "Ma'am".
It is also worth deciding what style the place represents. If it's loose-fitting, there's nothing wrong with it, it even fits. Well, the fact that our waiter acts once, the next time he does it, and then randomly rotates it, testifies to the lack of the basics of hospitality.
Involuntarily, we saw that they behaved similarly not only to us, but to all guests.
It is important to point out that the place is approx. It was running at 30%, a far cry from the stressful, fast-paced evening.
A few words about the food.
What was worthy of praise was the creamy korhely selection served as an appetizer.
However, the sequel no longer deserves a positive review.
The meats were overcooked, dry and tasteless. The risotto was very sour. The strapacska probably didn't even meet cottage cheese, as we got a dumpling fried in a pan (!), without any flavoring.
In the end, the waiter apparently did not know what to do when we indicated that the dishes were not successful.
In light of the above, it is overpriced and does not provide an experience worth spending an evening with them.
We're sorry you got here.
It's sad how the initial drive, will and enthusiasm can sink to the level of mediocrity.
PS: I thought hard about taking this much time to write my review, but I trust that the restaurant will reflect on the signs of the criticism and consider the issues raised.
