We had dinner at this traditional Hungarian restaurant . It is in the street next to the market . It offers traditional Hungarian food . It was homely and a bit 'kitsch' ' but the staff were friendly and service good. We had a beer, water, and wine, The goose liver was delicious , and the pork knuckle hearty . And we shared a cottage cheese fritter for dessert Total was 10,7 50 .

This restaurant makes you feel like home, when you and your beloved ones sit around a table at sunday lunch. Home cooking, traditional hungarian cuisine and very generous portions. The man behind the counter Is very nice and welcoming, and sometimes you will hear some genuine laugh coming from the kitchen.

This place is lovely and seems a lot more traditional and less touristy than a lot of other places in Budapest. The staff were very friendly and accommodating The chicken ragout soup and chicken pancakes were excellent starters. For the main, my beef lecso was very tasty but my only word of warning was that I asked for medium cooked and it was borderline raw in the middle. I don't mind meat undercooked like that but it was a bit off putting to my partner. All in all, it was a very nice traditional meal and like most things in Budapest, very reasonably priced.

As a tourguide I took tourists there to taste food and get a beer many times, but we had sometimes shocking comments from the owner there. I thought he is only a waiter. Once one of my tourist was packing her bag and she put a small bottle of water to the table (only half full of water) after we paid. We left about 10.000HUF there and the owner said that this bottle was not bought here,so put it away. The style was so arrogant. Yesterday on 23rd April I went there again with 4people. We asked for a table and he said there is no table for 5,as it is reserved. Well,I told him that we can sit at a 4-person table and is it possible that they can put an extra chair to the table. He said no. Then my tourist asked if we could sit separately 2 and 3 at different tables is that an option. He said no. He did not even try to help or be flexible. We left. After the tour I went back to talk with him. I asked how come he behaves like that sending away tourists (they were actually between 65-70years old) if he works in hospitality? We both knew there were 2 free tables. He said he does not need to change. I told him I think he should,as this is not acceptable to be rude, ignorant and rigid. This shows bad hospitality of Hungary.

We had a meal here in the evening 18th of Feb. Was quiet, good food and were served very friendly by a lady. Read some comments on unfriendly service was not the case when we came here. Perhaps evenings weekdays are less busy and staff more relaxed. Overall our experience was good quality and price balance.

We found Pippa Etterem through a flyer being handed out by a lady in traditional dress outside the market hall next door a day or so before our visit. It was easy to find and we had a lovely evening. The waiters were very friendly and helpful in assisting with our choices, the food was tasty and nicely presented . We had originally intended to only have main courses but ended up also indulging in traditional deserts followed by Palinka and coffee. Great evening and the final bill was very reasonable

Alittle gem in the heart of Budapest. Amazing food at this beautiful traditional Hungarian restaurant. The staff were very friendly & helpful in choosing our dinner & recommending traditional meals. We had the roast beef which were large steaks with local vegetables and beautiful cooked patatoes which were delicious. Would highly recommond this restaurant. It is located in the avenue beside the Market building

Nice Authentic Hungarian restaurant right next to the big market. Don’t expect to much of it but surprisingly good. We ordered the goulash dish and the chicken with egg noodles and we liked it. Very fair prices.

When we arrived the host told us “everything here is good” and he was genuinely right. The wine, the service, the food were all glorious. We tried the Sturgeon starter along with side salads. Main course we opted for Chicken Paprika Noodles and Pork, we had to order a second round of the cucumber salad side dish because it was so delicious. Wine and dessert were great and the restaurant had a lovely traditional atmosphere. Thank you for a memorable evening!

After a visit to the Central Market and on a very cold, grey day, this cosy little restaurant was very inviting. The decor is traditional with checked tablecloths and wall hangings. Service was prompt and the waitress smiley and helpful. We ordered a glass of red wine and a pint of beer. Both much cheaper than typical UK prices and my wine was surprisingly smooth. We wanted something Hungarian, hearty and warming to eat, so I had paprika chicken with egg dumplings. My husband had the pork fillet which came with roasted potatoes and veg. The chicken was cooked on the bone and very tender, the sauce delicious and the egg dumplings were similar to small gnocchi. My husband enjoyed his pork too. Neither dish was fancy, just decent, homely food like your grandmother would make. Both priced very reasonably. A very pleasant lunch.

Located next to the main market hall this restaurant ticks all the boxes for a traditional Hungarian meal, and beer. The menu was very simple but good selection. The prices are very good considering the size of portions. The staff are very friendly speaking English. Highly recommend it for any time of day. I had gypsy pig with potatoes ,the pork melted in the mouth and the rustic potatoes were very tasty. For that and Hungarian chicken with egg dumplings and a pint and half of lager it was only 12000 hf.( £25 including service charge which all restaurants do here)

The atmosphere was good and the dishes were not bad. The manager was patient and considerate. However, the waiter was rude when he served the bread by throwing it on the table without saying anything. If I had been asked before paying, I would have surely refused to pay the tips.

Great traditional restaurant - nothing fancy, but I liked the interiors and tiny details (like garlic hanging from the wall). Folk music that was playing on the radio also added to the atmosphere. Besides goulash you can find all kinds of great local food. We asked the waiter for the daily special and were not disappointed.

Very easy to find and friendly staff, they were happy to accommodate 2 of us on a larger table that we ended up sharing with a couple from China. Menu was in English and had a good selection, we opted for some very Hungarian dishes and weren't disappointed. Decor is quite kitsch but fits with the menu and style and there were something interesting things on the walls.

We went there by the nice lady who advertised that restaurant at the enter to Veg's market. Vey nice comfotrable place with some hungarian spirit, firts dish was quite ok. transylvanian chicken soup was very nice flavour but beef's stew with tomatoes looks like huge plate of tomatoes with 2 spoons of stew. I don't want to give a mark for taste of it, but frankly speaking I did it on my own much better. Almost no pepper, meat so so, with some uneated parts.....no any hungarian spirit in that dish............so pity
