Gringos Amigos is an American-Mexican fast casual restaurant. We don't use microwave, we don't freeze anything, use only fresh and quality ingredients. We serve home made tortilla, crispy nacho, gently spicy burrito, enchilada, taco and more in Tex-Mex style! We also have gluten free, lactose free and vegetarian options. Second time we come here in our 4 visits in Budapest.
First time was ok, i have good memories about the quesadilla.
Today, staff was not really friendly and a bit rushing me to chose instead of explaining what were the options.
That's my problem here, food quality itself is good, prices are okay, but staff is not helpful enough with English speaking tourists.
The menu with the QR code on the tables is only in Hungarian so you cannot prepare or understand your options before going to the counter, and when you go order, they just slap the plates in front of them, asking you which meat or rice you want, but not explaining to you that the tacos are cold (yes eating them just after was way too cold i didn't know that), or that with an enchilada you get rice and beans but not veggies. You cannot know your options, i really think printed menus in English with what's in every plate is a MUST to be able to enjoy your food there.
Enchilada was good. But the amount of food you get is also not a lot, we needed to get a dessert somewhere else after a menu each!
So yeah good food if you know what to take, if the Workers let you time enough or explain, a chance i didn't get :-( sad because i really enjoyed it the first time

First time I ate here. Expensive. 4.600 forints for tortilla soup and quesadilla. The soup was meh, and the quesadilla was terrible. The type of place that figures if they smother everything in cheese, people will like it. But cheese won't cover up mediocre food. They put way too much cheese in the quesadilla and the soup. The cheese was utterly flavourless. They use the cheapest kind of tortilla chips... the kind you buy in the snack aisle at Tesco. Ugh! I won't go here again.

Poor service, poor quality food, the chips were not fresh, the sauces were tasteless, watery, the quasadilla was poorly filled with chicken stew. Few years ago we had a completely different, positive experience, I have no ide what happened, but they have lost their authencity. Really sad about it! :(

I would’ve given another star if they would’ve been friendlier. Even as an American of Mexican descent living in Texas, this is relatively descent Tex-Mex. The use of correct terminology would be helpful. When I was asked if I wanted “cheddar,” I was not sure if the lady meant queso or shredded cheddar cheese and when I asked that question they asked if I wanted chicken. When I said no, her and the guy behind the counter became irritated with me. It was an honest question. A similar situation happened with the salsa. And, what is an enchilada burrito? The “cheddar” is a little too orange to be natural, FYI.

We went there as a group of 20people to celebrate our graduation from secondary school (in 1993). We had a great time, the food was very tasty, the service excellent and the venue beautiful. Thank you for your kindness and hospitality.

Outside no sun saver, inside no airconditioner. I was burning outside, waiting in the line, for 1800 Huf a burrito. After 10 minutes i gave it up. It is not a streetfood, as they promo it, it is busy, small, slowly restaurant. From 3 minutes here try the Csibe csida faloda-chicken fast food lunche restaurant!

Found this gem of a place when I was tired of the typical food in Budapest. Lots of variety and excellent quality. Prices are quite reasonable given the large portions you get. Ghost pepper isn’t for the faint of heart. Lots of vegetarian choices along with the meat dishes.

We stop there after seen it at the bus stop; thinking it will be nice to try something different but we got a big surprise: all the food was cold and tasted sickly even the lemonade; the girls at the service were so rude and not helpful at all and just to make it better the total price was 4800 Forint, after asking for my recipe all I got was hand write total.
Stay away!!

Don’t set your expectations high for Mexican food here or most places in Budapest. My Hungarian family likes this place - it is better than a couple other places in the city. So far that is a pretty low bar as far as I am concerned. Just give me some decent salsa!
