I was there with my boyfriend but it's good for families, friends or alone as well. It's next to a church, you can sit outside, you can also see the sunset, it is in a green neighborhood, you can have ice cream and home-made cakes as well. The coffee is delicious and the staff is also very nice. And my... More

As the name suggests this place is tiny, with just 2 tables inside and a few more outside if the weather allows. However, if you are in the neighborhood, it does worth a visit, because those cakes you will not forget!

This is a superb little tea and cake shop, a bit hidden away in the streets of Buda. It's decorated like an olde English tea shop, but with some nice twists. The cakes are delicious, the people are lovely, the tea is perfect.

Went here with my girlfriend for coffee and cake. Great selection of cakes and sweets, very high quality! The atmosphere is relaxed. It's a bit expensive compared to other 'cukraszda's (cake shops) in Budapest. But going to Asztalka is always an event for us. Looking forward to our next visit.

In many places in Budapest waiters aren't too happy to hear the question "is there a place to breastfeed our kid?" Here the immediate answer was "anywhere, I have three kids of my own and I know how natural it is." Besides the great customer service this place had also very tasty cakes, syrups and ice cream. A true hidden... More

Went here right before it closed and it did not disappoint! We got an almond cake with a whipped cream filling stuffed with cherries. Absolutely delicious! The espresso was also DELISH. Beautiful hidden gem on the Buda side and definitely worth the trek from pest!

Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
