The atmosphere of Horgásztanya brings me back to my childhood. No fancy, no luxury, and THE FOOD IS AUTHENTIC AND DELICIOUS! I love their fish soup of Hangover style! (= 'Korhely' in Hungarian). If you like sweet-water fish dishes perfectly made, try it!

Good food, staff was friendly but you could only pay with cash and we didn't get a receipt. There was four of us so we all tried a different dish and they were all very tasty.

Food here was lovely. Very flavoursome and large portions too. Red wine was also good. The prices were reasonable and I would recommend this quirky restaurant if you're looking for good goulash soup.

Just came from there after dinner. The place was a bit warm inside but there were no seats outside. The owner said it was a cash only place, several times!! The food was ok but not great. The prices were over the top. Wine was not good and made up a price for a glass of wine. They offered us bread... More

The food was OK but not great nor special. The portions were significantly small even though the price was high. But the service is extremely slow.

Dreadful. I have never in all my life had a MENU THROWN AT ME by a waiter. Rude, unfriendly and not at all tourist friendly. Food OK though overpriced for the area. Service so bad the food can't be enjoyed hence the score. On the outside it looks inviting, traditional Hungarian. Don't be fooled, you will regret it. If you... More

Just around the corner where we were staying. Yes they only take cash, yes the waiters are a little brusque, but the food is down home and delicious. We had the mushroom soup which was tasty and substantial, Grandma's pickles is a nice pickled salad, delicious. The wild boar was delicious and filling.

No credit card but cash!!!! In this place u get the typical hungarian style kitchen. Very good made. A lot of hungarians are eating here, but tourists too. Fully can recommend especially the 2 dishes which are my favorites. It is really cool !!

What can I say? I don't regret a visit there but I don't miss it as well. The meal was ok (goulash) but the portion was quite small. The prices are lower than in other places, I think. The service was really average. Don't recommend, don't dissuade.

The worst experience ever. I didn't eat there. What happened was, I was standing at the door until I feel awkward, finally some came to me and took me to a table, didn't want to wait, I went on to get a menu myself, then starting waiting someone to come and take my order, after about 5 minutes and a... Staying in District I / Buda

Neighborhood Profile
District I / Buda
The historical center to a city with a multifarious and intricate past, Buda has some of the most outstanding buildings in Europe and an enviable natural landscape with stunning views onto the Danube. Centered around the Royal Palace, it provides a glimpse into the golden years of the Austro-Hungarian empire and the lives led by the aristocracy at the time. Matthias Church, beside the palace, hosted many events attended by the royal family and was the chosen place for the coronation of Franz Josef, one of the Hungarian Habsburg kings. Having admired the palace and the church, a visit to Buda will be unforgettable by the stunning and memorable panorama over Pest offered by the seven towered Fishermen’s Bastion.
