The restaurant is about 20 minutes bus drive from the centrum, in the Zuglo district of the city. This area is ruled by middle class and upper middle class residents, small houses, small villas, most of them built between the two wars or even before....America street is a nice neighborhood, with trees, small houses, most of them well kept, with little gardens. In this neighborhood stands this restaurant, serving typical Hungarian food, simple but tasteful, large portions, but even in Hungarian means cheap. Restaurant is always full, hard to find free table during lunch time. Probably it is not in the standard tourist route, but if you are in the neighborhood, it us worth to jump inMore

Looking for fancy food in the vicinity of attractions? Well this place is not that type. But if you would go for 90s mood (in a good way), "traditional" food at reasonable price accompanied by nice service, you should definitely try this place. Reserving in...advance recommended!More

This is a wonderful small neighborhood restaurant in the Zuglo part of Budapest: The night I was there, it was full of Budapesters (like my hosts) and had only one tourist (me). The menu offers typical hearty Hungarian fare with a decent assortment of generously-portioned...pork, chicken, beef and fish mains, nice sides (I liked the marinated cucumbers) and traditional desserts. There's an excellent covered outside patio which turns the simple presentation into something festive. The service was friendly and Budapest-paced, which tends to be slow. It's worth seeking this place out for a happy and relaxed meal..More

The place is not in the centre and therefore it's more for the locals, but if you are in the area this place is great. Very traditional food and good quality. The prices are also reasonably cheap. Two mains with sides and drinks 5000 huf....But be prepared that your clothes will smell of food after a lunch or dinner here. Still recommend to try.More

Charming little bistro and food is very good. Selection and quality excellent. Food wine choices too. Service is incredibly slow and not that friendly

It's a pity that I have been working nearby for 10years and I haven't known this place exists at all. Yesterday we were wondering with my colleagues where we could have lunch and Csalogato appeared on google. We like fish food so was an easy...decision:-) went there just before 2pm and surprisingly place was full! We waited 10mins outside. Waiters were kind, we ordered breaded fish (ponty) plate with rice and salad. It was delicious, and portion was big. Tastes brought back my childhood- really an "as if my grandma cooks it" style. The only bad point, that our clothes got quite smelly. I will definitely go back soon!More

Now that the summer is hopefully approaching I prefer the dine in a garden. This place is just perfect. It is a green area, tucked away from the main stream of busy life. A spacious garden that offers tasty food and a good selection of...beers on the tap for a reasonable price. A place where you can relax, talk and enjoy. the food is delicious. everything is to the dot. Spicy but over spiced. Substantial enough to take you through the afternoon or evening. the garden is filled with trees to take care of the fresh air we all in need for nowadays. The restaurant is on Amerikai ut. You find it easily if you take metro line 1 to Mexikoi ut terminal. Here you follow Erzsebet kiralyne ut and find the street on your right about 3 corners away. then follow the road and the place with be there on your right. I warmly recommend it to groups, solos, family couples, basically to everybody.More

It has a good atmosphere in summer thanks to the terrace. Staff is nice. But last time we had Babgulyás which was cold, "Vegeta"-tasty and with a piece of plastic in. Túrógombóc was extremly sweet. It's a pity, with a much bigger attention on food...quality it could be a really good place.More
