Had dinner here tonight. Absolutely loved the food! Some traditional dishes, had rooster stew with home-made pasta + cottage cheese, my husband had gooseliver & beef sirloin. Would go back any time! It was expensive but the service was excellent and the food sooo delicious.

Was headed to ATM when young lady asked us to come in. She said they had vegan food which interested my wife. The next day another restaurant rated highly by some was closed so we dropped in. The friendly waiter gave us some suggestions when I asked him. Everyone loved their food. The strawberry soup was fantastic. The trout and... More

Stumbled upon this place whilst in Budapest for three days, 1st meal was a bowl of Goulash......really nice, ok, was it a flook? Went back for a 2nd meal and it was beautiful, can't for the life of me remember what it was but I remember specifically saying "oh my god" when I took a mouthful, even translated the menu... More

Lots of classic dishes but homemade and excellent quality. It worked out quite expensive in comparison with other restaurants but we did have desserts, coffees and palinka. Nice to sit outside.

Good service, good value, good food. Started life as a sandwich bar and the owners have gone deservedly from strength to strength and now it is a restaurant. Great location by the Metro and street located to just watch the world go by whilst you enjoy your food and drink. Actually recommended by the staff in the hotel opposite!

We were greeted by a friendly, English-speaking waiter and seated in the lovely restaurant outside by Astoria. The food was very good with good portion sizes and reasonable prices. We had bruscetta and goulash to start, both very good (excellent goulash), pesto mozzarella trigoni pasta and duck risotto for mains, both lovely and beer and mojito to drink and the... More

First night in Budapest - tired - not sure where we are yet. Bacadillo Astoria great find. Actually ate here three times as food, wine and waiters good. If you like duck, their duck pie is fabulous.

We were drawn in from the street for some lunch as this restaurant looked lovely. The staff were friendly and the food was beautiful. I had stuffed chicken with spinach, which was to die for. My chap had a burger and said it was very good. It was decently priced. Would go again.

We had just arrived in Budapest, checked into our apartment and were starving. Our host suggested this place which was just around the corner. It is just opposite the Astoria Metro station. It has a nice outdoor patio a glassed in area and an inside area. Our server was delightful and helped us make a selection. I had a beef... More

Staying in District VII / Jewish Quarter

Neighborhood Profile
District VII / Jewish Quarter
District VII is the very heart of Budapest and houses the city’s Jewish Quarter. Its streets are lively and colorful, its buildings narrate different histories in an assortment of architectural styles, and its cafes and bars are frequented and loved by the enthusiastic crowds. Grand and magnificent, the striking star of the district is the Great Synagogue, the largest in Europe and one of the biggest in the world. Distinctly Moorish in style, crowned by the twin onion shaped domes, the Synagogue is the very emblem of District VII and one of the main attractions in the capital.
