About
Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa...that is the Sicilian cook and Sicilian table. According to a Roman saying this is the secret to a healthy life. They came, saw and conquered: the Greeks, Carthaginians, Romans, Arabs, Normans, Angevins, Hapsburgs, the Bourbons...Yes, every one of them! All these people, they left something in Sicily - Trinacria, for example, belonging to Greek mythology, the Gorgon in the middle and the three legs as tips to protect the island. The Arabs, skilled breeders of goats and lambs, and with them their milk, processed caciocavallo, provola pecorino. The testimony of the Saracens from the "sweet tooth" in Sicily is a legacy left by the nuns who handed down the memory, and it is thanks to them that today we have the real dough, cassata and Siculus coquus et Sicula mensa "cannoli". With the succession of all these peoples, Sicily today has a very diverse cultural heritage, that leaves a lasting impression for life, the memories of all those travelers who have had the opportunity and the chance to visit it. Between the oleanders and colorful bougainvillea, under the shade of the thick foliage of olive trees, savoring the delicacies of Sicilian cuisine, including fresh fish of the sea, the warm sun that enriches and gives an unmistakable flavor to fruits and vegetables, sipping her wine noblest, is unforgettable. Equally memorable are the inhabitants of this fantastic island, famous for their warm welcome and availability, full of life, with their kindling a sense of humor, with the inimitable "coppola" placed on their heads, with a joyful noise you preach good appetite. This atmosphere we are ready to offer here in Budapest! "Baciamo le mani!"(kind of typical Sicilian regards) Salvo Sgroi and La Coppola Team

1st night of our Budapest trip, looking for somewhere different to eat and found this absolute gem.
Food and service was spot on, worked out the exchange from Huf to uk pounds and couldn't believe the bill was only £21 per person.
A must visit if you're in Budapest.

The pizza was one of the best I ever had and they made it custom according to my vegan request. The vegetables were all fresh and delicious. My husband had the Diavola and just devoured it, it was so tasty. The salmon with rosemary potatoes my father had was also perfectly cooked and very delicious. The service really impressed me because the owner really made every effort to make us feel good and meet our needs. We did not have to wait much, though the place was pretty busy.
All in all it was a great experience!

It is a very nice place, but also relaxed. Not stuffy at all as some Italian places can be. The presentation for my food was great, and sneaking a peak at the next table theirs was better. I had the Tortellini and it was outstanding. The meat inside was ground down very fine and it was very tender. The sauce was fantastic. I almost asked for more bread just to finish it off. Also, everyone did their best to accommodate this English only speaker which is always a concern for me when I travel. Highly recommend.

Just had a fairly pleasant meal here, but must say was quite surprised by the prices (especially of the wine which i was put off ordering with the cheapest bottle starting at ~£18) also the service was quite slow (40 min wait between courses). Mozerella and parma ham salad starter, then a spinach and ricotta ravioli with 2 mojitos was ~12,600 HUF (about £33) whilst this obviously isn't outrageous it is comparable with UK prices and most other places here are cheaper. The food was fine though but nothing extraordinary.

Dear Customer,
Thanks for your positive review anyway!
We are sorry if you do not agree with our prices! I would like to remind you that since the “Cppola” is a 100% Italian restaurant all our raw material comes from Italy, than thanks to the covid we have had serious increases that unfortunately do not depend on us!
Certainly the prices of our restaurant cannot be compared to the prices of other Hungarian establishments!
Thank you

We had a combination of starters (carpaccio, courgette flowers) and main dishes (salad with tuna, pasta), plus wine. For 5000 Ft (about 16 Euros) we got 3 courgette flowers (not stuffed with anything) and two anchovies, each filletted in half, plus greens. That's much dearer than I've seen in Nice, which is a much more expensive city. The carpaccio was better. Be careful of the wine prices, too. We had
a pinot grigio for 11000 Ft (about 35 Euros, high even in western Europe), at the waiter's recommendation. It was
good but not worth the price. Otherwise, the quality is quite good. The pizza and
other main menu items appear good and reasonably priced. Be careful what you choose and you should have a good meal.

Dear Client ,
Thanks anyway for your positive review!
Thanks for being our guest for us it is always a pleasure!
Weekly we have in addition to our traditional and classic a la carte menu, the special menu, ( chef consiglia ) that is the proposal of our Chef!
All our raw materials are selected and the origin is exclusively 100% Italian, for us the quality and genuineness of our products is very important, we use only the best!
Obviously, like all specials, the prices are adequate to the quality standard that we have been offering to our customers for 12 years! One of these is the buffalo “burrata”, with battered zucchini flowers and marinated anchovies.
I hope to have you again as our guests soon!

The food took 40min to arrive. I ordered swordfish and came just with 1 tomato for about £25 and it was overcooked and no taste at all (it supposed to be lemony) I asked the waitress if he could ask the chef to agree that it was overcooked and get a new one. He said it will only take 5min and took another 15...my boyfriend couldn't wait for me as his food was getting cold for the wait. I had to eat by myself a piece of swordfish that I make at home much better and I am not a chef.
Very disappointed fish dish. Not worth the wait.

We are talking about a particular evening, and in particular the days of formula 1 in Budapest!
We made you sit with the super crowded restaurant and you didn't even have a reservation!
Our dishes are always inspected by the chef before leaving the kitchen!!… but our customers' satisfaction comes first and therefore even if we disagreed we made the dish that was identical to the one before.
Obviously not being a fast food restaurant and being the restaurant super full we did our best to get the dish ordered as soon as possible!
You knew that by remaking the dish obviously your boyfriend would have to eat and that you would eat later but this was your choice and we satisfied you! If you are as strong as you say at the stove, then you probably have the wrong position seated at a table, we are waiting for you in the kitchen, show us what you can do!
End of all, do not make fun of us and do not offend us we have an experience of over 35 years in the sector and we work very hard to offer the best for ALL our customers, in terms of hospitality, quality and professionalism!
Good luck!🍀

Our family, all big fans of Italian food, reserved a table at La Coppola (when we dropped in the evening before a big fuss was made about the need to reserve, but this is probably part of the show). We ordered a diverse range of starters and mains. Mine was Linguine Vongole, one of my favourite dishes and it was quite simply the worst I've ever had. The Linguine was so undercooked it was hard to imagine how they got it so wrong. I had no choice but to hand it back and the waiter returned saying I would not be charged (no offer of an apology, no offer of an alternative plate). I asked him did the chefs agree that it was inedible (in case he thought I was being fussy) and he laughed and said, "yes they said it was like rope and just left!!" The final bill was the most expensive we paid in a week amazing food in Budapest, ruined only by this experience and the way the staff dealt with it.

We were served beautiful fresh authentic Italian dishes. Staff were very accommodating and explained wait times and what dishes comprised of. Perfectly cooked risotto and waiter was knowledgeable on diet restrictions. Highly recommend for a relaxed dining experience with stunning food.

The best meal I’ve eaten anywhere in a long time.
Seafood risotto was to die for!!! It was packed with clams, king prawn, squid, mussels and dressed with caviar. My son had, what he described as, the best pizza he’s ever had. My wife and daughter had equally delicious pasta dishes followed by panacotta with fresh fruit. Everything was too good!!!
Not expensive. Great atmosphere and service. Absolutely recommend this place.

We have travelled extensively in Sicily and therefore when our hotel suggested this restaurant we had high expectations. We had their Pizza Pane and Pizza Quatro Stagioni with Rucola e Parmigiano accompanied by a local red wine. The pizzas were definitely not what we were accustomed to. Pricey meal for 2 by Budapest standards during our 4 night stay.

We were there for dinner with a party of 12 on August 16, 2020. I am stating the exact date because I. want to give the opportunity to the manager to have a serious discussion with our waiter. He was unprofessional and obnoxious. Due to his incompetence, we had to send back the bill, because we were charged for items he never delivered.
Story #1: some in our party ordered cocktails and asked for it “straight up”. Obviously the waiter had no idea of what is that so we explained “no ice, but cold”. He went on to a lengthy explanation about how is that impossible because the drinks are stored at room temperature. ???? The bartender new better and we got the drink right.
Story #2: of the other drinks we ordered 2 glasses of vine and a pint of beer was served way after the food was on the table and only after repeated reminders.
Story #3; two of the appetizers we ordered have never arrived. Two of us got their main dishes only after everyone else finished eating. When we complained, he went on another lengthy explanation about how we mixed up the ordering (we did not).
Story #4: when we received the bill the 2 appetizers we never received were on it. Also an extra beer was charged. Our waiter was simply unable to handle the complexity of serving a large table.
Story #5: the tip was automatically added to the bill. If we had a choice we would have donated the same amount to the homeless people in Budapest.
The food was good.

We had a fantastic meal. We sat upstairs in beautiful surroundings. The restaurant was very cozy. We had starter, main courses and dessert and they were all delicious.. The waiter was very attentive and thanked us for our patience when we had to wait a while for service..It was pricey but worth it…

Went here for an evening meal on our recent trip to Budapest. The restaurant has an authentic Italian feel with the decor. The portion sizes are generous and you are given the time to relax and enjoy your food. The prices are reasonable and they serve a good gin and tonic!!

We wanted an I tali an dessert and good coffee, so we stopped at the first Italian restaurant we so. Unfortunately, we already ate. The smell of the food was delicious 😋 we had tiramisu and coffee. Like in Italy, there was more foam than coffee😉 but it was a good coffee (finally)
I hope we will have the chance to try the food next time.

My family & I were looking for a restaurant for dinner and were caught in the rain and wanted to go eat somewhere before we got soaked.
I quickly looked for a restaurant and saw that this nearby Italian place had good reviews.
We arrived and were seated and then seated within a few minutes. Very pleasant surroundings & atmosphere was my first impression.
We ordered drinks and they arrived promptly; they make a good negroni and the wine we had was great.
We ordered bread, pasta and pizzas and all were excellent. Some of the best pasta I’ve had. The pizzas looked superb, the dough and sauce was excellent.
The service was very good, my pasta took longer than the pizzas so they gave me one of the hero is free of charge. This was a nice touch.
The bill was ~€100 for 4 main courses, bread and 6 drinks. The most expensive meal we had eaten that week was ~€80. I had no issue with the cost as I felt it was worth it for the quality of the food and the service.
Very much a positive experience; I’d certainly return to eat there again. Top marks.
