Strongly recommended by my brother we went to Riso on a lovely October afternoon. With no reservation we could not get a table on the terrace but were lucky enough to get one inside. Erika, our charming waitress led us to the table and was efficient and professional throughout the meal. We had the Guinea fowl soup (excellent), Sweet chili king prawn salad with mango (excellent), Grilled branzino fillet with sun-dried tomato and spinach risotto (excellent) and Cottage cheese dumplings with sweet sour-cream (out of this world) – unfortunately not always available. With a glass of Villa Maria Sauvignon Blanc (highly recommended) the bill came to HUF 17.000 (with 12% service included) – not cheap, but for this level of food and service well worth it. Paid parking is available opposite the restaurant. Coming down from the Castle, or visiting Riso just for the experience, don’t miss it! Arguably one of the best restaurants currently in Budapest.

After navigating crowds of tourists at Buda Castle, Riso offered a welcomed respite. We sat outside in partial shade, I noticed there were blankets available at each table, if it got chilly. There was also room inside, but the temperature and weather was perfect for al fresco dining. The waitstaff was friendly, attentive, and service was prompt. I had risotto with mushrooms and beef while my husband ate goulash and my son enjoyed a Margherita pizza. It was all fantastic! Along with alcoholic drinks and after-dinner coffee, our total (including the built-in service fee common in Budapest) was $66.00 or about 55 Euro. A very decent price for the excellent food, service, and atmosphere. There were other families, couples, and a large group all enjoying themselves. It was easily our best meal and dining experience in Budapest.

We had the beef risotto and chef’s offer of pork knuckles. Food was bad especially the pork knuckle was not we were expecting. It was something like jelly. We were charged additional 10% of service fee. If the food and service were good we were happy to pay the service fee. But from what we saw here, the TA reviews uploaded their receipts (the latest one was the dinner around 1 month ago), they weren’t charged extra 10% of service fee. It wasn’t a big amount, but it’s just unfair to know the staff randomly charge on customers when they want to.

We arrived to the restaurant around 6.30pm on Thursday, when having only few tables in use, but seated us somewhere at the back in a small table. After my request finally got a table in the terrace in a mid table, where the atmosphere is much nicer.
Waiters attitude is quite ok, but not on a level expecting from such a high class restaurant and guys are not wearing mask properly.
Drink was not offered or asked for 15min, just made the order together with the dishes.
Drinks and soup arrived quite fast, both were good, but not extraordinary.
After the soup mains came within a minute by surprise, not letting us for a small talk either.
My lady's gnocci was acceptable, but my lasagne was so strange without any taste, hence let most of them on the plate. It was recognized by the waiter and said sorry, but no any free coffee or discount offered at the end.
But the nightmare came after 20min on the way home, started having massive snag in my stomach and we were praying to got home in time without any "accident". Finally got home and then spent half an hour in the toalet, then again and again.
After all painkillers and some tea helped me for some sleep, but woke-up during the night with the similar pain in my stomach.
It seems got a massive food poision thanks to the not freshly made lasagne, so sure will not return to Riso again.

Super good food, one of the best we ever had. Also pasta was very nice.
But first the pasta came..and who ordered pizza needed to wait. Pizza came when the 2 persons who had pasta did already finish their meal.. ecxuses received, a lot of persons ordered pizza at the same time..but then better wait to serve the pasta.

Even though is restaurant is perfectly located next to the castle, prices were very reasonable. The menu is a bit of a strange mixture as if they could not make up their minds about being an Italian pizze/pasta place or offering Hungarian local dishes. Our food was ok, there would certainly be room for improvement on the presentation side, everything looked a bit bland on the plates. Not really a gem, venture elsewhere if you have the choice.

We had a lovely family & friends dinner with a friend visiting us. We called 2h before to book a table for 5 for 8 pm and the staff was super helpful and nice (we called before 3 other places and could not find one table on a Thursday evening).
We tried pasta, pizza and risotto dishes and everything was delicious and very nicely presented. Our friend who ordered risotto with duck liver was overwhelmed with joy - he was soooo excited about his choice. We had limonade, beers, wine and coffee (not all together 😁) and they were perfect. And we could not leave without trying deserts, so we ordered the rice ice-cream, the tiramisu with chestnut purée, the chocolate lava cake and the floating island. We could barely stand to leave the restaurant after so much food, but everything was perfect: service, delicious plates & drinks and the atmosphere.
I have a feeling this will become our favourite Italian place in town.

The best restaurant we visited in Budapest. After a few days only eating Hungarian food it was a welcome change. We had just done a free walking tour around the castle district and we had all worked up an appetite. Having done some research the night before I found Riso in the Buda area and went ahead and booked after reading good reviews. We were all blown away by the attentive service from start to finish. The food was perfect everyone was so happy with what they ordered. I had the bruschetta which was so fresh, followed by the prawn and salmon cream risotto which was delicious, the prawns were so juicy. For a table of 10 people the final bill was very reasonable and we couldn’t stop commenting on how good it was for the rest of the night.

The quality of this place, unfortunately degraded significantly in last 2 years.
Food is no more of good quality and preparation.
The Carbonara they served was made with bacon and milk cream, with overcooked spaghetti that were melt8ng in the dish.
The waiter, when asked how was the food and I told that, just raised his shoulders showing incurance.
Waiters don't give attention to guests and to have anything you have to move hands like a windmall for minutes because are talking between them and don't giving a...
It is a pity, was ine off hte best places in Budapest

Visited today for lunch with 2 friends and the staff were really accommodating. They quickly added a chair to a table to make room for us all and were quick to take orders and bring food out.
Pizza was delicious! We all enjoyed ours.
Place was very busy, staff were efficient and friendly.

Riso has become our regular place to visit now every time we travel to Budapest. The restaurant has a wide selection of Hungarian and Italian delicacies that is just delicious! The service was excellent; the waiters and waitresses were very kind and were there to explain everything we have had questions about. The owner is also very lovely, looking forward to being back soon. So if you’re ever in Budapest, Riso is a must place to visit.

At beginning of April 2023, I celebrated with my family,10 people, at Riso Ristorante & Terrace in Budapest. A week before I corresponded with the owner, Mr. Takacs Lasloz, and reserved the places. On the evening of arrival, we were greeted by Mrs. Felicia.
She very patiently explained the menu, even to the children among us, and emphasized her recommendations. Throughout the meal, Felicia took care of our comfort and responded to requests with a lot of goodwill.
The food was delicious, served hot to everyone present.The serving was very aesthetic and the desserts at the end very tasty. I thank all the staff and especially to Mrs. Felicia for her contribution to the success of the evening. Next visit to Budapest I will come again. Marcel, Israel.

We visited for dinner during our recent trip. Had the sharing starter and 2 steaks. The starter was very nice, good quality meats, cheeses, and bread.
The steaks came with thick cut chips, molten hot. Very nice the star of the show is the steak. Top class meat cooked to perfection, no sign of fat.
A little more expensive as it is a hotel restaurant.
