About
Michelin Bib Gourmand and Michelin "Service of the Year" awarded restaurant in 2024. This was a monumental milestone in our journey, showcasing that high-quality cuisine and outstanding guest experiences can achieve world-class excellence simultaneously. Our chef Szabolcs Nagy focuses on contemporary yet traditional Hungarian cuisine and the use of seasonal ingredients. The freedom offered by the bistro kitchen is not only conducive to seasonality, but also to more daring and interesting dishes, where you can always taste something exciting and new. For our chef, offal is one of the cornerstones of his traditional cuisine, and he makes it his mission to introduce his guests to these ingredients, which have been very popular since opening. We offer a daily changing lunch menu from 12:00 to 15:00 and an à la carte dinner from 18:00. With a wide selection of national and international wines, including curiosities, everyone can find the best match.

Wow ... what can I say !!!
N28 Wine and Kitchen is outstanding .... First location ... really easy to find ...
Service ... amazing ...a 10 out of 10 .. everyone from the moment we walked in to the minute we left were friendly, answered every questions we had. Perfect hospitality. Everyone speaks flawless English and English menu are available for this e who fear the language barrier.
Wine selection ... well there is almost 500 bottles on the list ... we told our waiter that we enjoy Sauvignon Blanc and that we wanted the Hungarian version and he recommended an excellent one.
Price are very fair but a bit on the high side for Budapest, still coming from the US prices are excellent.
The food ... I had the famous "Hungarian" goulash a couple of times before during this trip and it really didn't wow me or impressed me, but the waiter convinced me that the N28 version was amazing ... and wow he wants wrong ... it was possibly the best dish of the night ... WOW, WOW, WOW
We had some shrimp roll that was yummy and for mains we had river fish and veal cordon bleau .. and all the food was amazing .... Food was 10 our of 10
Dinner for 3 that included ... 2 starters, 1 bottle of excellent wine, and additional glass of wine and 3 mains plus a nice tip (yes you do tip in Hungary when you receive EXCELLENT service) was 150 Euro's ... this meal in Paris, Rome or London would have been at least double.
We enjoy our meal here and I highly recommend it
MUST make reservations !!! we arrived at 1900 and were the first ones there by the time we left at 2100 it was completely full
A perfect 10 out 10 and our best night in Budapest !

Here we have a surprising wine restaurant! It combines great cuisine with an extensive wine list, several by the glass. At lunch, during the week, there is a well-priced option for 2. We can choose between starter, main and dessert. I went from creamy mushroom and rooster soup to wine and my wife chose cod and chocolate mousse, all delicious and very well executed. The 2-stroke option costs 70 reais. Efficient and friendly service.

Really good food. First class Hungarian wine offering. But the service and ambiance let it down a bit, so I doubt it will get its Michelin star that soon. That's a shame as the food itself, it's top class and very good value given the quality. We had the crispy prawn and avocado and the bone marrow and Parmesan starters. Both very good. In terms of the mains, you need to be aware that the Magalica pork is a dark pink even when cooked. The risotto with the vension saddle was too al dente even though I like it al dente. The lighting in the restaurant is bright and the tables are very close to each other so you are bound to either end up chatting to those on the neighbouring tables or listening to their conservation. I guess what I am saying this restaurant might not be the best place for an overly romantic occasion but it is a good place to go if you want to experience a modern take on Hungarian food washed down with good local wine at a fair price.

I was disappointed by the fact I was expecting a great restaurant and a great wine place from what I had read. The restaurant is NOT disappointing. Food is prepared in a semi-opened kitchen. The dishes are very tasty. So if you like your food, please do go. If you also like your wine, like I do, you may be a bit disappointed. It is difficult to interact with the Somelier, and she tends to propose a few of the same wines to all the tables. So not a great variety, despite what I was expecting. The tables around where I was seated had roughly 2-3 different wines only. So in conclusion, disappointed with the wine offering but pleased with the creativity and excellent tasting of the food

It is not easy to decide whether it was a good or bad experience.
We asked for a new wine in mid-November, it wasn't on the menu.
Instead, we drank 2022 Koch&Evans rosé (1.5dl HUF 2,200), which was already a little tired.
Also from here, a 2018 cabernet franc (1.5dl HUF 6,220) was also put into the glass, I wouldn't call it a good experience either, it almost crossed the wrong category.
It is positive that the mini-tasting amounts filled in before were not added to the list of payables.
As a wine tasting gift, we received cornbread with horseradish liver cream, which was perfectly fine. One negative note: the lady who put together the bread basket had her hand on the bread stick while slicing, which she should have done with gloves or a napkin.
The cheese plate (4,750 HUF), which, if I remember correctly, consisted of a total of three smaller pieces of cheese, we asked for a few slices of ham, and a full ham plate with olives arrived. (6,950 HUF)
My foie gras pâté (HUF 4,650) with the other ingredients was perfect.
It is rather strange to me, and I have experienced this in other places, that rosé wine, white wine, red wine, so they are all filled in the same shaped glass. Schools were based on this, which glass shape best brings out the flavors and aromas of different wines. (see Riedel)
It is also a problem that it is not the best luck to get 1.5 dl of wine for HUF 4 from a bottle that may have been opened for the first time days or weeks ago. Wine oxidizes very quickly when it is exposed to air (3-5 days), loses its character and, if you are unlucky, they fill it from a bottle that was opened for the first time several weeks ago. This problem is not easy to solve anyway, instead of winemakers, I would also produce 2-3dl bottles from the 1-2dl glass batches intended for gastro.
The best was probably the Fekete shiraz 2017 (1.5dl HUF 3,995), it was a good choice for the desserts, which were impeccable.
The four of us paid HUF 75,000, including the service fee.

As we were going to the Opera at night , a friend advised us to try this place nearby for an early dinner. We were warmly welcomed by the staff upon arrival , given a quiet table for 4 upstairs and very well advised on the items displayed on the menu. Everything was cooked to perfection, including my choice of a duck breast which I specifically required to be well done even if for the cook this must have been a sin to do so. We really liked the Hungarian touch to the dishes. As for the wines they were perfectly matched to our choice of food and allowed us to discover local terroirs.

I am familiar with a couple of high end restaurants in Budapest, but this one was a real and nice surprise for me, fully deserving to be in the next Michelin Guide.
One appetizer we took was an interesting and very tasteful interpretation of Hungarian "lecsó", which is a kind of ratatouille traditionally made out of vegetables with or without pieces of meat or sausage. This one was with big pieces of creamy duck liver perfectly cooked, slightly contrasting with pieces of various kinds of pepper cooked almost al dente, that is, a lecsó at a very exquisite level. The other one was shrimps 10-12 cm long without shell, coated in a crispy sort of very thin tempura having besides a very suitable dip of a kind of guacamole and a sort of maionese.
Only I ordered a soupe. It was a gulyás with beef cheek and pieces of sausage, again a traditional hungarian, which I considere the highest standard in the matter. Perfect texture, nice contrast crisp-soft between the pieces of the veggies and the rest, and a very good integration of the big amount of paprika which is the norm for this dish.
One main we took was big guinea fowl ravioli with an amazing taste and texture, dipped in a tasty sauce, and accompanied by a couple of fried green not hot peppers similar to Padrón variety and two balls of sour cream. Magnificent plate. The other one was lamb rumb very well cooked, with an excellent sauce, celery gratiné, and veggies (carrot, potato, asparagus and again that kind of Padrón) cooked al dente, probably first boiled and then slightly fried. Again, a splendid plate.
All plates were colorful and very well arranged, arousing your senses.
The Maître was very attentive, competent, having a clever sens of humor, but also courtly and polite. He managed to do one of the best pairing of Hungarian wines, and, although my lady followed my advice, not his, regarding the dessert (I didn't take dessert), when observed she didn't enjoyed it at maximum as the other dishes, made the offer to change it for free, and changed it with his recommendation which proved to be excellent.
All in all, excellent food, beautiful atmosphere and, above all, the best service, deserving 6 or more stars out of 5. The prices are not low, but fully match the quality.

Our go-to option whenever we want to impress foreign friends visiting Budapest downtown, also the most incredible lunch menu in the city. In terms of the dishes, emphasis is on high quality, seasonal ingredients; simplicity combined with a little twist that makes the difference. There is always great wine to match the food, and Sándor is our favorite host ever, a delight to meet every time.

The three-course meal had potential but fell short of expectations. While the presentation was appealing, the flavors lacked depth, and the dishes felt somewhat uninspired. The service was polite, but overall, the experience did not justify the anticipation.

What a fun evening. Tibor, who is incredibly knowledgeable about wine and very kind, made our evening special. The chef graciously accommodated our food requests and we had terrific Gambas Pil Pil and very special Pork from the Tokaj region. We enjoyed a great red and wine tasting of 12 different wines along with 3 sparkling wines. We learned a lot about Hungarian wines and would definitely return. When in Budapest, if one has an interest in wine, this is the place to go.

What an excellent restaurant - great food, very nice wine, excellent service and remarkably cheap for what it is. Really top class food - starters small portions but incredibly cheap, main courses much bigger and still very reasonably prices. Desserts the same.
And the staff were so incredibly friendly and helpful.
Really excellent place.

We had an excellent meal of small tapas style dishes which were out of the ordinary, try goats cheese salad, gamba pilpil, salmonjero. The food was so good we went onto dessert and had both on offer, cheesecake exceptional.
We paired this with Hungarian wines bu the glass. Our waitress offered us small tastes of different vintages or producers to guide our choices and introduced us to some very unusual wines.
It is a small elegant venue with modern decor and staff who are knowledgeable and friendly. There is indoor and pavement seating on a side street off main pedestrianised centre.

Delicious food!! I ate the rib eye, and it was very good! Will recommend. There was not one dish on the menu that was bad, the rest of the guests including me were very pleased with their food. And the service here was excellent, they talked to us and joked, but at the same time professional. Felt very personal and welcomed by the staff. The drink was so good and the staff recommended very good drinks for us! Would highly recommend!

Me and my girlfriend had an amazing night yesterday at the Wine and Kitchen restaurant. The food was really nice and the wine was even better. The waiter made us feel welcome from the first minute and gave us good sugentions regarding the courses. Overall a briljant exprience. (The second wine bottle was free and unforgettable for us;))

I had dinner here this evening. The waiter/sommelier/host was super informed on their excellent wine list and happily gave me tasting pours as I was ordering by the glass. The food is a bit of a blend between updated Hungarian classic style and traditional Spanish style. Well that’s how I interpreted it, and it works together beautifully with robust, classic flavours. All staff were friendly and engaging. Can’t rate this restaurant too highly.
