Rumour is a unique restaurant concept, where during the experience our guests can enjoy a multi-course tasting menu, getting familiar with the colorful range of dishes and rare ingredients of Hungary. An evening spent at the restaurant can be compared (with a little exaggeration) to an intimate dinner with a small number of friends. Like in most "chef-table restaurants", the most spectacular elements of food preparation take place in the open kitchen, in the middle of the “stage”.

I feel I must disclose, first, that the amuse bouche served before the courses was particularly fantastic, and really did a great deal to set the mood for appreciating the food to come. The atmosphere of the restaurant, in both the physicality and the art selection, unfortunately puts off the kind of pretentious vibe of many restaurants of this calibur. This made it all the more enjoyable when I had the treat of later hearing the chef discuss how such restaurants can often lose the point in their pretension. His intention is to focus first on the deliciousness of each dish, which is sought in balance rather than potency or exoticism of flavor. I believe that this mission serves to ground the flavors here, such that I would credit the chef with being experimental but without requiring the patron to be particularly adventurous in their pallette. There were many dishes throughout that either my partner or I would generally not be particularly keen on, or would consider perhaps polarizing or divisive. Rather than simply engaging exotic flavors for the purpose of "showing off", the clearly well-traveled chef instead incorporates from the pallette of his experiences. The chef himself admitted that he would be very unlikely to order a cauliflower dish from the menu of a restaurant that would offer a more promising entree, such as a steak or a schnitzel. But here, the cauliflower is served with a beef cheek that is so thoroughly cared for as to make the bites not only as flavorful as if from a steak, but done in a manner that is surprising to the pallette as the beef is dehydrated and grated over the cauliflower, and only truly 'activates' when coming into contact with saliva. This, to me, is what makes the cuisine particularly commendable: that the intention of deliciousness is pursued with this careful attention to detail. I was surprised by how much I enjoyed some of the dishes, and surprised by how much I enjoyed Rumour. I wish them great success, and eagerly anticipate when I can next return.

Absolute no 1 restaurant in Budapest

Once you figured out how to get inside the restaurant you are in for a roller coaster of flavors and textures for the next few hours. The attention of the waiters is perfect, the table arrangement is a bit different from what we are used to but it works really well. The food is of the highest level ever tasted (wouldn't be surprised if they were awarded 2 michelin stars). No matter where you come from: always worth the trip... Thanks and congrats to the full team of rumour budapest.

This fine dining restaurant has the most wonderful menu in Budapest. I tried lots of places, but here everything is in harmony. The place is in the center of the city, but not a crowded place. The atmosphere of the restaurant is like somebody drop you back to the 1920s, the colors, the red, black, grey is perfectly give the feeling of the "secret places", where everybody wants to go, but just some of them get invitation. So if you are in the lucky 21 who get a chair for the evening, you can enjoy the perfect serviced menu of the michelin star chef, Jeno Racz. Also he is the one who introduces the menu for the guests every night. The wine is really nice, but the bartender is one of the best in his job. He has special drinks for any tastes, if you are here, you should try some from his creations. The food is amazing, the service is perfect, the design is wonderful, the music is in the perfect volume. Plus point: My mother is on special diet, I wrote about it at the reservation form, so they changed some ingridients of her menu. Thank you everything Jeno! I will come back soon!

All in all, an uncompromising and amazing experience that starts from the moment you step trough the doors. The atmosphere are wonderful. The food is innovative, tasteful and beautifully presented and the waiters tie a knot to the amazing experience with their smiling, accommodating and nice service. Huge recommendation from here.

It was a Brand new way of eating magical food compositions and watch the methods of creating it. The wayters are nice and attentive. We felt like vips. The food was perfect and special and delicious. The restaurant is superexcellent. And our talented and professional wayter was like a "friend" Szilamer. The atmosphere of the restaurant is remarkable. Highly recommended. Thanks for everything. By Brigitta & Frank Ps: I have "lactose intolerance". During the reservation process i mantioned it. In the restaurant, after a few dish. Szilamer came close to me and said - We made especially for you a lactose free dish. It was heart touching.....

We’ve chosen the theatre menu which was finally a good choice. The food was delicious and the plates were designed in a very creative and nice way. Our host Zoltán was really prepared and was able to answer for all of our questions we had during the dinner.

We had an amazing experience at this Michelin Star restaurant. Our server, Szilamér, provided 10/10 service the entire night and delivered one delicious course after another. This is truly unique experience and I would recommend it to anyone

Our first visit to Rumour

If you love food this is the place for you. The kitchen is the stage. It’s hard to notice all the details of the performance but the actors are the chefs and kitchen staff. The food on unique dishware are the props that we each get to experience. The sommelier and servers top up your beverages and present your food adventure. As the evening closes while your finishing your final courses the main character and supporting staff slowly disappear and then you realize the performance is over. Enjoy

Very expensive pleasure

The food is (étoile oblige) a delight for the palate and the eye. The staff are friendly. The price level is very high - you can get it cheaper in this category in Central Europe (including France). The crowning glory was that a "service surcharge" was charged without mentioning or explaining it - a whopping 30 euros! Not that that is generally the norm... I also found it inappropriate that the time of the reservation only partially coincides with the time of the meal: Here, the guests are first gathered together, have to wait for a quarter of an hour (as in my case) and are then gradually asked to sit down at the table. I had never experienced that before...

Wow, what a unique dining experience!

The food was great, the experience was very individual and more intimate than I had expected. Staff were very kind, caring, knowledgable and welcoming for guests who are creative restaurant novices. You also feel super exclusive and special during the dinner, as all special requirements are taken into account to prepare your food (different diets, allergies) as well as the staff will help guide you to the bathroom very diligently. You also get to select your own knife for the main course :) Two things I don't like: 1, half of the table appear to eat before the other (even though by very little), but it feels as if it was a spoiler - I had wanted to hear the explanations all at once. 2, it would have been more theatrical to ask the staff to come out and bow at the end :) Overall, was a lovely experience that we would recommend - definitely not a regular restaurant visit!

I visited this restaurant in june. The food was amazing. Chef Rácz Jenő is a real professional in his profession but what is more important he is a kind, good person. I think the food is the absolute best with its presentation ih whole Hungary. This is just a different experience. It was better than anything else what i experienced in my life. Tge amuse bouche was a nice touch to start the dinner with. Followed by the organic tomato salad what really reminded me of my granny's tomatoes frim her garden. This experience was so special because had triggered memories and emotions in me. My absolute favourite dish was the Burned caulifliwer with that Brown butter sauce was just out of this world. Honestly the service was something really special as well. Szilamér served me who was not just a real professional but he is the most entertaining waiter that i ve ever met. He drove me through this amazing experience and i just trusted him because he was so nice, professional and friendly from the beginning. The wine pairing was rellally good as well. Well selected hungarian wines in the nr. 1 wine pairing (They have 3 different wine pairings :) ) All matched perfectly with the food. Gave me a completely different experience. Well done for the Sommelier team. This place definitely deserve at least 2 Michelin star.Finger Crossed for them to get that. Would be well deserved. Thank you Rumour. Thank you chef. I ll be back.

Very good food. Nice ambience. Good service! Worth a visit! On “display”, an 11 course tasting menu which offers a broad range of flavours, ingredients and impressions. Beautifully crafted, most of them with tweezers :), the team of 15? (there were so many people in the kitchen) prepare little delights in the open kitchen. Which you can overlook from comfortable high chairs at a long “chefs table”. There was a very special pre dessert tested yesterday which was white chocolate yeast with caviar! Worked perfectly!

Culinary orgasm! As the restaurant has few reviews, I am happy to put one on as a gourmet restaurant lover. After spending years scouring the starred restaurants of my region, in France, I found myself living a fabulous experience in Hungary! We are on a great menu (11 courses) where each dish has been able to delight our taste buds by its correctness of taste, originality and magnificence. We are of course on small portions and the absence of bread makes it possible not to feel on the verge of explosion at the end of the meal. I specify that bread + homemade butters are served as a first course! Of course, I do not regularly frequent the great Parisian restaurants or other French tenors, but I found at Rumour a tasting pleasure that I do not often see around my home (even at equivalent Award)! For me, we are easily on a 2 star taste level (with respect to tastes and originality). Especially desserts, where we quite often risk staying on our end, which both blew me up in terms of flavors (with bonus trumpet the incredible eye on bananas). In addition to all that, the "culinary show" aspect allowing to see the staff preparing the dishes in front of us was a pleasure in my eyes. Finding all the guests at the same table (U-shaped around the kitchen) also allows pleasant exchanges with other enthusiasts. Practice of English is a real plus for all explanations, even if a staff member spoke French. Service level, no complaints, impeccable end to end with very friendly waiters who do not hesitate to chat and joke with customers. As for the price, of course, it is not given but it is well worth it. We got away with 406€ (with the +15% service) for two with a glass of wine. Note that a water package is automatically dispensed. Of course they don't warn, but we paid 3€ for two... I've never seen such an honest offer. If we add wine, the bill can (very) quickly rise with the food/wine pairings offered (especially with prestigious wines: more expensive than the menu itself...). We have opted for wines by the glass that are very decent Award (< 10€)! In the end, one of my best culinary experiences in a restaurant that I recommend to all lovers of taste! And fast before they catch a second star:)

Excellent restaurant

Amazing food, excellent service, ambiance and art. We felt genuinely welcomed by our server and the cook who took time to speak both about the dishes and the artwork. 5star food that I highly recommend (my favourite were the re-interpretations of Hungarian staples) to anyone visiting Budapest.

An amazing experience

Amazing experience. The dinner consists of 11 dishes, each has a different twist which would take your dinner to the next level. Cocktails were extraordinary, thanks to the amazing bar manager who took care of us. The restaurant would take into consideration your personal food preferences. (e.g. if you do not eat fish the chef would provide some alternatives).
