An impulsive stop for our party when looking for a dinner venue. Took advice of "man on the street" who suggested this place. It was an excellent suggestion. A small local family run restaurant, we were warmly welcomed and attentively served. Red and white checkered...table cloths, with well used wooden chairs add to the family atmosphere. We ordered duck legs with potato and cabbage plus a veal cutlet. All were generous in portion and delicious to the palette. Meal was served with a Pilsner beer that complimented our meals perfectly. A great dining experience.More

Sat outside and were promptly given menus. Ordered food and drink from a somewhat sullen waitress. Drinks came and then we waited. And waited. And waited. Our waitress was nowhere to be found, and after 45 minutes as customers who arrived well after us were...getting their food, I caught the eye of another waitress and shrugged, indicating we hadn't been served. She shrugged back, went inside, came back, and indicated the food would be out shortly. We finally got it (from the second waitress) and asked for more drinks. Nope, not gonna happen. Food was just OK, but the service spoiled everything. Never did see the waitress who took our order. To add insult to injury, after we left I checked our bill to find that we had been charged for side dishes that the menu indicated were included in the price of the entrees. My bad for not noticing before we left, but fair warning to others--don't get ripped off. Our only truly lousy experience during 10 days in central Europe. Oh--bring cash. They don't take cards.More

Best schnitzel ever! Dont go for the giant one, its too big. Goulash soup ok, avoid chicken paprika. They do not accept card for payment.

Nice neighborhood restaurant, cozy, with the largest schnitzel ever. It was delicious too. Friendly service, nice red-checkered tablecloths, would recommend highly.

If u visit Budapest do not miss out on this place! Their schnitzel is the best (and i swear i tried plenty of places). The giant one is enough for two if u get side dishes as well. Potato salad is delicious as well. Everything...is yummy here, of you don't feel like eating schnitzel ask the kind waitresses what they recommend, what is very fresh... you can't go wrong with this place. Summertime their have a terrace, sometimes busy, so make a reservation. If u are not hungry just take a seat, order a beer and enjoy the atmosphere. By the way, plenty of locals visit the place, which is also a good sign.More

Among the best goulash soup ! Huge portions, pick carefully :-) giant schnitzels are really huge (pizza-sized). One giant is enough for 2/3 people ! I would go back and get less food.

Sadly, a really bad experience... First of all, we aksed a table outside, but all of them was bussy when we arrived. So we agreed that once a table free up, we can sit there, while we are waiting we will sit inside. We ordered...a wiener snitzel plate for two person. While we were waiting we noticed that new guest are getting a table outside, so I called the waitress to ensure that we are still waiting for our table outside as well... but they never called us. When the food arrived, we were schkoed. It was a typical Hungarian deepfry plate fro two, with chees, mushrooms and grilled chicken. So I called the waitress AGAIN (because they never took their time check on us whether are we satisifed, or do we need anything!), and told her that we did not ordered this. OOO, that must be a mistake cuz we ordered a plate for two, we should ordered separately, they cant too anything about it now. Well I asked for the check immediatly. I wanted to pay with credit card, but they don't have a terminal, so I said welll I might not have enough cash with me.And the respond from the waitress was the following: there is a cash machine in front of us. The service, was simply awful. Wouldn't call it a service at all tbh. They didnt gave us a talbe outside, although they promised and they wasnt willing to solve the order issue at all. There is no customer focus at all. I'm not recomending them at all.More

Was staying across at an Airbnb and decided to check this place out after seeing the GIANT schnitzels... It was mid afternoon, on an very hot summer day. I picked a table on the outer edge of the patio because it was more open and...there was a bit of a breeze. The place was pretty dead and I ordered the giant chicken schnitzel, potato fritters and a glass of wine. The first attitude I got was when I asked for 10dl and didn't accept the offer of 20dl... Wanted to try it first.. The wine came, it was nice. Then a group of 9 showed up and the waitress asked me if I would move mid-meal to an inner table where it was surely quite stifling... I said I would prefer not and she popped with even more attitude. I pretty much got ignored until I asked for another glass of wine. Then when I asked for the check one of the servers didn't even understand what I was asking for. Instead of asking the main waitress to come over my request got ignored. If finally saw the main waitress, asked for my check, presented my credit car and she immediately said "cash only." There was nothing anywhere stating that and I looked. That was enough for me. Paid my check and walked away and resolved to be sure to place a review here. Good luck. The food is great, although a bit over priced, but the service is horrible.More

I had aubergine pate that came with 4 slices of toast but the toast was cold, not nice and warm from the toaster. My boyfriend ordered TRANSYLVANIAN WOODEN PLATTER which is basically a mixed grill (pork, veal, tenderloin, bacon) but he got only 3 slices...of pork and a little piece of bacon on top... Nothing to do with the food he ordered. Very dissappointing even in itself but when we saw the price we got even more annoyed. You could have a lot nicer dish for this price in the central food district in Liszt Ferenc square or in Gozsdu court. On the top of all the waitress tried to give us the wrong change even though we are Hungarians... Though this could have been an honest mistake, but not sure about it.More

If you like deepfried breaded meat, called schnitzels, you'd love this place. Wiener schnitzel is a tradition in Hungary, and this restaurant is a good franchise.

I ate a "halászlé" followed by Gundel pancakes. The fisherman's soup tasted excellent with a lot of carp in it. It was probably cooked in a very savoury soup consisting of small fish followed by the carp. It was of sufficient quantity and the taste...was excellent. The Gundel pancake was filled and it had too the right temperature. it is also possible to enjoy a good beer, I had a Münchner Weisse Hofbräu. To sit outside among the tall trees and looking at the Bauhaus building gives you an excellent feeling that few places offer. It is fun to see all the people walking by.More

We've been here with kids. The service was OK, but the food really underperformed our expectations. It looks way much better than it tastes. There are better places around to sit in.
