The Polo Pub is is located in Buda side near the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, two corners from the DANUBE RIVER.
Within one week I visited this place twice, first we held a club event there with 50 people and yesterday we had dinner with friends there.
Food excellent, service excellent, staff friendly and speaking languages!
Great place, this is why always full with Hungarians living nearby!
They have international kitchen but also very good Hungarian Specialities.

My girlfriend and I stopped one midday without having booked, having found the place by pure chance.
the location is very beautiful, typical Hungarian in all its style.
They make us sit on a wooden mezzanine, located above the bar counter. We book two second courses with duck-based meat side dishes: very good, everything cooked perfectly, accompanied with two beers: €35 for two. Very low price considering that in Italy you spend at least €10 more and the cover charge. The staff was very kind, the service was perfect: not too fast and not too slow, just enough to make you enjoy your lunch and not make you lose patience while waiting. Highly recommended.

Great dining experience, we stayed i. This place two evenings and ate divinely really spending the right, about 18/20 euros each
Excellent atmosphere and the waiter who immediately makes you feel at home. He immediately offers you the aperitif with an extraordinary palinka, excellent dishes and fantastic dessert

This is a nice place for a drink and the live music was very enjoyable. The staff were also friendly and attentive. However, the food was very poor, it was not fresh and it was served cold. We sent it back, quick blast in the microwave and then reserved. On a positive note it was cheap which was just as well. Perhaps they were having a bad day given how positive other reviews are here but certainly this evening’s “food” was outstandingly bad.

The pub itself has a good feel, the staff are friendly and attentive and the Czech dark beer was fantastic. The food on the other hand was disappointing , the duck was dry and overcooked and the goulash soup was bland and like out of a can. Maybe chef had a bad day but definitely go for the beer

Nice place in front of the Parliament. Good choice of drinks and local food. I really enjoyed the sztrapacka with bacon and sheep’s chees and wheat beer. A local guitarist plays nice American songs, good atmosphere 👍

This place is lovely! We really appreciated both the meal and the service (they've been very friendly and made us feel like home). I loved the fried calf's feet with tartar sauce and fried potatoes and, besides that, they are very generous in quantity! I think that in this place you taste the real Hungarian food!

This place is spectacular. Highly recommended if you want to visit the Buda area and try typical foods, we try Toltott Kaposzta (RECOMMENDED and very typical) and Turos csusza. Very welcoming place, and the charming waiter attended us impeccably at all times. I know that if I ever return to Budapest, this will be a mandatory stop.

We stumbled on this charming pub on Easter Saturday, when Budapest was quite busy. We were looking for somewhere to have dinner on the Buda side of the river, to be able to view the lit Parliament bldg after dark, since we missed out on booking a river cruise. After a busy day with higher crowds than we had experienced, I am so glad we looked for dinner on this side of the river. It was so quiet and empty, and we were worried restaurants would be closed. We were warmly received by Roland and Adam, who were so friendly and helpful to us. We had great beer, wine, and delicious meals along with nice conversation with them both. Thank you very much for the wonderful time we spent with you- we are the couple from USA who were celebrating our 50th wedding anniversary on this trip to Europe, and we chatted about the Easter Bunny, the tooth fairy, and other customs that differed…We will remember you both as a special memory of Budapest. Thank you!

Excellent value for money with local Hungarian dishes. The building is nice and cozy with delicious food with all the family loving it! Great service with the food arriving quickly. Highly recommend! Truly a hidden gem!

I found this place by accident. I was just staying round the corner. Was craving a pint of Guinness. They had a sign outside. It’s a time travel back to the 70’s type pub. I mean that in a nice way. Plenty wood effect all over the place. A nice bar. Didn’t try the food, but the menu looks decent.Live music at the weekends. After buying a couple of Guinness they offered me a palinka. All in all a decent find. A nice sized terrace for the summer.

Walked past and thought we’d stop for one drink but stayed to eat. Lovely bar, beautiful inside. The Hungarian dishes were very good. The staff exceptionally friendly and helpful. Would definitely recommend it.

Lovely traditional pub on the Buda size just minutes away from Bethany Ter. Great food, friendly staff, great range of beers and palinkas. We seek it out when we come to Budapest. Budapest fantastic city isnt it, you can visit time and time again, you havent been yet? Why not?

A pub I always look forward to visiting on any holiday I take to Budapest is Polo Pub.
This is a great British style pub,interior is superb, set over two floors, dark wood features abound, a solid wood serving bar dominates the main room, pubby decor and furnishings including plenty of seating options spread throughout this pub, its a great pub to unwind in.
We were greeted with a smile by a very pleasant member of staff, we ordered beers from Staropramen Brewery, these were served in excellent condition being iced cold and sparkling and we just kicked back and took in the great pub we were in.
A big fan of this famous beer from the Czech Republic, its a golden, light and hoppy lager style beer bursting with taste and very easy to drink especially when served freezing cold as in this pub, it was also nice that the barman who served us spoke impeccable English, had a good chat with him while enjoying our beers.
We really enjoyed our beers in here before we moved on and although our visit was only fleeting as on every other visit to Polo Pub we had a great time.
Polo Pub is easy to locate along Batthyany Utca.
Opening hours are;
Monday to Sunday, open from 11.30am.
Well worth checking out if you're in the area.
