I celebrated my birthday this year in Budapest and the big day in Hotel Queen's Court located restaurant Chess. They knew about my birthday and already at breakfast I got a congrats in a form of a birthday song by personnel accompanied by a piece of cake with candle, sparkling and special attention. At dinner Adam and Bucazs, working at the restaurant made a very tasty dinner with another cake and sparkling as for the restaurant. The food was tasty and the atmosphere warm and joyful. The premises were tiny and cosy but gave an impression of privacy and cosiness. This birthday I'll remember as one of the best so far.

On the recommendation of our friends, we stopped by before a performance at the Madách Theatre, and we couldn’t have made a better decision. Balage’s professionalism, kindness, and great sense of humor made the evening even more enjoyable – such hospitality is rare! The hot cognac sour cherry soup was a true flavor explosion, full of finesse. The catfish paprikash was simply brilliant, with a perfectly refined harmony of flavors in every bite. And the cheesecake? Pure creamy heaven! We will definitely be back – and not just on show nights (though what they do on the plate is quite the performance too)!

My husband and I were looking for a special restaurant for our date in Budapest tonight. By chance we came across the Chess Restaurant and were enthusiastic from the beginning.

Excellent service and exceptional food. The waiter had a great knowledge of Hungarian wines, and the food pairing suggestions were spot on.
One thing I noticed was that the time between courses was just perfect, leaving us to savour the glass of wine. At no time did we feel rushed.
My wife had the chicken main, and I had the pleasure of having the pork.
Both were cooked nicely, and the food was fantastic.
When it came down to desert, my wife had the creme brulae, which was excellent.
I decided that it was appropriate to go exploring with the wines. On the suggestion of the waiter, I tried a red from Hungary, which was exceptional.

Brilliant restaurant! We were in Budapest for a week (first ever visit - amazing and impressive city) and wanted a good evening meal on our last evening (a Sunday). Many restaurants were fully booked and we tried this online thru their website - success! Great food (in a city that has v good restaurants) and this had 1st class, friendly and attentive staff. It was ideal for my wife and me as we don’t like busy and very noisy restaurants and there were only a couple of other couples, but given the sheer quality of the place it should have been much busier - even packed! It’s attached to a hotel so people may think of it as a hotel restaurant - big mistake! If or when we return to Budapest this will be one of the first restaurants we come back to. Thanks!

It was a very lovely place with a very good vibe 🤩! The staff was super friendy !
We stayed at the hotel “Queens court Hotel” and this is their restaurant !
The food and the wine were just perfect matching , you have to take the hungarian local wine en listens to all the amazing stories the staff Will tell and help you Where they can
We are defenitily coming back to this amazing place !

We tried the duck pate and goat cheese mousse as starters along with 2 soups. Main courses included venison, dorade, and risotto, all delicious. Our waiter David Kun gave outstanding descriptions of the menu, specialties, and helpful tips to guide our choice.

We had an outstanding meal in this stylish restaurant.One of the best meals we have ever eaten. The waiting staff were very pleasant and attentive and there was a very enjoyable musical duo playing violin and guitar.Would definitely recommend Chess for a n excellent dining experience.

Excellent food! Really nice environment, not to big not to small really quite nice for a romantic meal. The food was very tasty indeed and at a really reasonable price. The service was fast and friendly and I would certainly recommend you try this restaurant out if visiting Budapest.

Despite the out of date info in this listing, this place is open for business. Our dinner was excellent - great food and wine and good service. We were one of only three tables occupied though, which is a shame for such a good restaurant.
