We had heard of the authentic, cheap food here. The night before it was packed, so we decided to come earlier the following night for dinner. There were tables for 2 outside but the doorman/waiter told us we wouldn’t fit (my husband is a big...guy) which was a bit ridiculous. We angled the table a bit and fit fine. Drinks came quickly, ok prices. Food - goulash had a couple of bits of meat, beef dish was tough but chicken paprikash was nice, although noodles were gluggy- possibly that’s the Hungarian way. I don’t know if they were cheesed off by how much we spent (3 small dishes and 4 drinks), because when we got home and did the currency conversion, we saw that we’d spent $110 Australian which was crazy- we could have eaten at a really nice place for that. Went over the bill and they’d added the 9 course chefs choice, which comprised half the bill! My husband returned (our hotel was 5 mins walk away) and got a refund and they were obviously chastened/guilty and gave him a free shot of palinka. Was it a mistake, or do they do this to dumb, non-Hungarian tourists who can’t read the bill and don’t understand the weird Florint currency? You be the judge! By the way, they added 2 gratuities to the bill so we didn’t bother tipping, the guy at the table next to us was raving about the place and tipped 5000 huf which seems excessive. Eh, we’re Aussies….. 3 stars for food, service and value, minus one for ripping us off. (Or trying to…..I’m sure if we were staying further away they’d have got away with it).More

the worst place to go for dinner. We called many times to book a table but no one answered. Once we arrived at the restaurant we asked if they had a table for six people, they said yes, so we waited more than 30 minutes....after all this time they wanted to make two people eat inside the restaurant and four outside. unacceptable.More

Great to try typical local dishes, but the restaurant is tiny, so hard to accommodate large families, specially with baby strollers. I had beef stew and loved it, my wife got pork shank stew and it wasn't good, bland and too much pork fat in...it. We also had a typical dessert, marked as a favorite, and it was so so. Prices are not the cheapest, adding up to 31 Euro for two dishes, one beer and one dessert.More

TERRIBLE TREAT 💔 we were excited to try it as it has decent reviews on google maps. First, the waiter IGNORED US, even though he saw us waiting at the DOOR. He passed by us as we don’t exist … despite of this, we asked...if there was an available table (there was an empty table inside). He just replied in a rush that were no tables. Shocked by the way he treated us, we left. So sad, we wanted to try the food here .More

Traditional hungarian dishes for a good price. Restaurant is quite small with only few tables and we had to wait for few minutes to get our place, but then both service and food were great. We had four different dishes and all were perfect.

Don't let the line infront of the door fool you. The food is not as good as the lines length. The Gulash Soup had meat that was not cooked very well. The chopping of the meat and vegetables were sloppy. The soup had almost no...flavor. The Chicken Paprika i ate was too salty. Chicken was cooked well. The pasta that came with it was not good too. The sauce was the salty thing on the plate. Sauce ruined all of the meal for me. Tho the meal was bad the dessert made it a little bit better. Because the apple pie that comes with vanilla ice cream is probably best thing that this shop sells. You might aswell eat at the other restaurant thats just infront of it for the meals and eat your dessert here. So dont judge a book by its cover even tho it looks good. I dont reccomend this place at all. Also the man at the restaurant of the place doesnt really like the customers. He was acting rude. Also you might wait 1 hour to just eat there its not worth the wait.More

The food was mediocre. Soggy mushrooms and tasteless sauce. The service was not great but the worst of all was the house wine which tasted like rubbing alcohol mixed with grapejuice. The price is cheap but not good value compared to the experience.

The place is very modest but the food was very good! It serves typical hungarian cuisine. We were in budapest for five days and everyday we ate in restaurants and Kisharang was the best. It is a small restaurant so come early or you will...have to wait for a table and they do not take any reservations. Forget the overpriced restaurants and come here for the best goulash, breaded chicken and lemonade. Shout out to the restaurant waiter, you are the best!More
